  1. Just to be clear I'm a big Wild One fan. It kind of sucks in wheel seats but in the middle row of any car that's a solid ride. Given it's cool history it makes it one of the only "can't miss" rides in the park when we visit. I know I keep saying this but you need more Phoenix in your life... like right now, lol
  2. You could hope that but it's been the policy on almost every ride every day since Six Flags took over the park almost 20 years ago.
  3. I rode Roar in the 2015 season and it was a very bad woodie (that's saying it nicely), but it was a totally different experience in 2016. When you get back to the park ( hopefully before they RMC it ) I would give Roar another chance. Coasters are just like us, they change. Okay fine but if this is like the time they convinced me to give X2 another chance I'll hate you forever. It's a brand new train they said... It won't try to make your insides spontaneously combust they said...
  4. You can't choose your seat on anything at Six Flags New England except Superman (until it goes VR) and Mind Eraser. Luckily every seat is a good seat on Wicked Cyclone. Ride Superman in row 1.
  5. Never been to Over Georgia but I love JB's at SFNE. Dat Boom Boom Sauce Doe...
  6. Cam 2 is perfect. That's the only camera that matters.
  7. I know, seeing it test today is only fueling the anticipation.
  8. Yeah Gotham is really the biggest problem with the park and its amplified by the fact that the best coasters in the park (minus Wild One) are all back there so it's where you spend the majority of your time. It's hilariously ugly back there.
  9. Oh and sorry for the double post but this just in from the webcams... the big day is here! Testing has begun! . Were you expecting something else? Then get your priorities straight.
  10. Right. You can fix anything if you're willing to invest the money. Look at the multi-year restoration project Busch Gardens just finished on Le Scoot. That's just one of many parks to do a major flume restoration in the last few years.
  11. Personally I can't wait to see what they do for Holiday in the Park. If anyone can polish up this turd it's the guys from Oak Island Creative who they contract to do the lights. By the time they're done with it I might actually like the place.
  12. I don't know that I'd call Kings Dominion one of the top 10 parks in the U.S. but at least you acknowledge that the two parks aren't comparable at all. I don't care if you classify it as terrible or not. Personally I'd put it a step above Jolly Roger in Ocean City and Conneaut Lake and Lakemont so it could be worse
  13. You can't be serious? Yes... yes it is. I mean... Busch Gardens Williamsburg? The most beautiful park in the country? The park with great rides, amazing atmosphere and great natural landscaping? Yes... a park with a bunch of crappy clones where they don't do any cosmetic maintenance ever in an open field with no theming or atmosphere to speak of is terrible compared to that park. And Kings Dominion puts it to shame too. Come on, if you don't think BGW blows SFA to hell then you're delusional. You're beyond delusional... Who's complaining about the clientele or the staff? I actually think the staff and the clientele are both fine at this park. The staff is probably even a step up from Great Adventure. I've complained about operations but that's because the park insists on running one train on everything and understaffing the rides. Your post it totally out of line. Not liking terrible amusement parks doesn't make you a racist. What's wrong with you?
  14. My thoughts, along with many others exactly. I actually think locals overhype the park because they're judging it against itself and see it improving. They're 100% right, the park is improving but it's still terrible compared to other parks. I actually think non-locals are more objective because they're not judging the park against it's own reputation and seeing improvements (and they are improving so hats off to them), they're judging it against other parks in the area like Kings Dominion and Busch Gardens which completely blow this park to hell despite those improvements. And I don't mean to go out of my way to hate on the park but if someone asks about visiting and you don't set their expectations accordingly you're almost being mean because these poor people will show up expecting a respectable amusement park and instead they'll have to spend the day at Six Flags America.
  15. I was on board for a minute but here's the fatal flaw. Nobody except for a few enthusiasts wants to go to an amusement park by themselves. Many people would probably buy 2 seats or more so they could go with their significant other / friend / kids... whatever. In this system it's highly unlikely that everyone in the group would win. So let's say now the kid wins and not the dad so the kid can't get to the park, or one friend wins but now it's not as much fun because they have to go alone. I like the idea of your system, it's noble... but the current system is probably less of a headache for the park and for the people who register.
  16. It's insane but when I was walking around the other day there were times I was legitimately missing Holiday in the Park. I don't know how it's even possible that it's my favorite time of year at the park since Kingda Ka, El Toro, Bizarrro, Zumanjaro and Skyway are all closed but it honestly might be. Also I want a waffle.
  17. I never noticed that. Also more importantly why the hell did they put an eagle on the background?
  18. It's for Charity, anyone pissed about the price (not implying you are but I'm sure someone will be, lol) is an a**hole. The more they charge the better if they can get it.
  19. Welcome to TPR! Technically speaking it's not actually a roller coaster. It kind of looks like one so Six Flags markets it as one to make it sound better but at the same time it probably leads to a lot of people being disappointed by the ride. Personally though I like it. If you compare it to other coasters it's not going to stack up but if you lower your expectations and just expect a fun little ride that's worth a 5 or 10 minute wait then I think you'll have fun. No but there is a single-bucket-on-the entire-f**king-cable-because-they-don't-care-at-all policy. They should almost put it on Flash Pass they suck so bad. But most importantly I think I'm rubbing off on you. Making the Sky Ride a priority is always a good thing. lol Oh and I believe they're the "Peachtree Sky Buckets". When in Atlanta just use "Peachtree" as a prefix for everything. Especially street names. lol
  20. Lol here you go. These were both from closing day. And in case you're wondering who the other person is and where I get this from that would be my mother. Brit and I drove down and picked up Boldikus on the way and a few hours later out of nowhere she drove 3 hours, showed up and surprised us because she's convinced that Nitro is the single greatest thing in the world and wanted to ride it in January. Nobody knew she was coming. Lol That was an awesome day that ended with us all riding Nitro for about an hour and a half straight in below freezing temps without getting off once. And random but here's Skull Mountain from closing day... Because Skull Mountain.
  21. No, I rode it 2 years ago and my experience was so bad I don't think I'd ever give it another chance. Gwazi was the only wood coaster I've ever ridden that was even close to being that bad. I think I actually preferred Son of Beast.
  22. I don't know, operations have always been so hilariously, mind-numingly terrible that I never had the opportunity to re-ride despite non existent crowds. Well... except on Roar but I wouldn't re-ride Roar if you paid me.
  23. Yeah but to be fair this park doesn't really care about wind under any normal circumstances. On opening weekend last year they stalled Nitro and valleyed El Toro on the same day. What happened on Sunday wasn't normal. There were 50 MPH winds with even stronger gusts, power lines were down all over the area and if they sent a Nitro or Toro train there's pretty much a 100% chance Toro would have been in the twister section after the rolling thunder hill (if it even made it that far) and Nitro would have been chilling out in the woods. Most importantly though there is one downside to Great Adventure's weather policy. If that same thing would have happened on a Fright Fest Saturday they would have opened up the rides when winds died down but they'll close if the crowd levels are low enough that they're losing money. It also makes it harder to open rides in the wind because of you send empty trains with winds like that you're even more screwed. A park like Cedar Point has a horrendous weather policy but the one positive is that they never close early and they never give up. I've seen them open Sky Ride with only 45 minutes left in the day when it had been closed all day and last year during Halloweekends they opened Dragster, Raptor and Gatekeeper with only about 15 minutes left in the day when winds finally died down. Great Adventure only has that same level of dedication if crowd levels are high enough. You're going on a Saturday though... you're fine.
  24. I admit I know next to nothing about this park but after seeing that last picture of a Skyway with no cars on it I got excited and thought it was a Von Roll. I guess it's a fixed grip that they took the cars off for maintenance... I'm disappointed. lol I like how the ride pulls a "Cheetah Hunt" with the Skyway though.
