  1. The escalators are still there. One of them is basically in the entrance into Journey into Imagination on the left as you walk in. The other is to the left of that near the gift shop but I believe it's walled in at the bottom. Here's a photo of the escalators from the Imageworks. To the left is the ride entrance.
  2. Heh, that stuff is all still up there. Just a little worse for wear!
  3. It's great to see that Disney continues to innovate so much with their operations. I think this is a fantastic move and will no doubt be a part of the future at every other serious theme park around the world as the cost of the technology drops. Privacy may be a concern for some but I think in the majority of cases people's misgivings come as a result of not properly understanding how the system actually works. Plus there's always going to be the 'tinfoil hat' wearers who'll jump up and down whenever RFID is mentioned. I can't wait to try this out next time I make it to WDW! Ultimately it means more rides and a more convenient guest experience, which can't be a bad thing.
  4. Are you headed to Moscow? Clues which suggest this are: Elissa getting McDonald's in America 'while she can' - Moscow McDonald's is the busiest in the world. The Airbus A380 is the world's largest passenger jet - Russia is the largest country. Denver Intl Airport is the largest international airport in the US - again reflecting Russia being the largest country in the world. The flight path is congruent with Moscow. Also, in the last clue the three colours of the Russian flag are present - blue, white and red (although I guess it's more pinkish).
  5. I think you guys may be headed to Hawaii - possibly as a transit destination. In this photo, Elissa has two pieces of paper and is holding up three fingers - 23. United Airlines flight 23 goes from LAX to Kona. Also the Volcano suggests Hawaii
  6. This website has some really cold vintage style Disney attraction posters: http://www.posters57.com/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_result&search_in_description=1&zenid=b8h8g8d10q4akujs83epv4io42&keyword=disney
  7. You can absolutely be a character performer while on the CP, however there are very strict criteria relating to height and build. If you want to be a character look-alike then you have to look a LOT like the character. They will line you up with heaps of other people and choose the best one. You are not required to take classes but you can if you want. Some of the classes I've heard of are 'personal branding' and hospitality related stuff. If you decide to take classes you will get 2 days off per week, and will be required to take a 4 hour class at Disney University on each of those days. There are exams, presentations, etc just like normal university. As for Disney careers, there are some opportunities. If you have an engineering background and do lots of networking it's possible to get involved in Walt Disney Imagineering (degree required), however it's not easy to get your foot in the door. A lot of CPs end up moving down to Florida and working here full time because they like the lifestyle. Some end up as coordinators and managers, but unfortunately most just end up working as full time cast members. To be honest I wouldn't give up your dream of being a teacher to work for Disney. Like I said, opportunities for progression do exist, but are very hard to come by. The college program is a lot of fun and you'll meet a lot of great people. But in the end the reality is that if you move down here with the hope of gaining a career you'll more than likely be disappointed. Good luck!
  8. Thanks for the replies! Knott's is very tempting but if it takes up to 2 hours to get there I don't think I'd have enough time to really enjoy it - I'd hate to be constantly checking my watch. Hopefully I'll get the chance to visit KBF and SFMM after I finish in Orlando. The thing I'm concerned about with Santa Monica is that I'll get there, have lunch, do a few rides, and then have nothing else to do. I know Venice Beach is in the vicinity - is it possible to kill a few hours checking out the shops and stuff around there?
  9. Hey everyone. I'm flying into LA from Australia next month on my way to Orlando to work at Disney World for 6 months! My flight lands at LAX at 10am and my connection to Orlando departs at 10pm, which means I have 12 hours to kill (and don't really want to hang around the airport). I've been trying to think of things that I could possibly do in the time I have which wouldn't take me too far from the airport. I originally wanted to hit up SFMM and Knott's but ruled them out because they're too far. I'm interested in hitting up Santa Monica Pier but after doing a bit of research on public transport in LA I'm just really, really confused...Oh and I also really wanna go to In N Out! Can anyone provide any tips on: a) stuff to do in LA close to the airport, b) public transport to said things and c) any other useful tips? Thanks!
  10. Hey! I'm coming from Australia and will be arriving on the 17th of July for an attractions role. So excited!
  11. Artist - Thom Yorke Album - The Eraser Price - $20 Tracks - 9 Verdict - 8/10: Not bad, not great.
  12. Hey, can anyone tell me if there are any major attractions/theme parks on the I-95 from NYC to Tampa (excluding the obvious Florida parks)? Any parks that are like an hour or two off the freeway? Would PKD be on the way? I really have no idea about US geography! Also, what's the drive like? Is there a lot to see or is it pretty boring? Also, does anyone know how long it takes driving from NYC to SFGADv? And how long does it take to get from Washington DC to Busch Gardens Williamsburg? Wow, sorry about all the questions. Thanks!
  13. ^It's f*cking close to water!
  14. Moonsault Scramble pulls 6.2G's, but it's no longer operating. http://www.rcdb.com/id1292.htm
  15. My 'crackpot' theory is that it's something to do with Scientology. On the main page there's a password-protected link at the bottom that says 'theta9', which reminded me of thetan, which is what Scientologists believe to be a spirit or soul or something. Also, like it said in the YTMND video, there was the thing about 'audits' (another Scientology term) and the 'handbook' sounds like it could be something to do with Scientology. Oh, and their server is located in Melbourne! But yeah, it's probably nothing.
