  1. I think Battlestar Galactica (USS) does fits the bill The ride closed just too weeks after the park opens, reopened in Feb 2011 then broke down in July 2013 again! Up till now the ride is still...well...SBNO
  2. I have not visited the waterpark or hotel yet (it has not opened when I visited the resort), but I think the park is very clean for Malaysian standards and the staff are generally quite enthusiastic (not sure if it is because the park was new). The rides are in general able to cope with the crowds so the longest wait time my group had was about 20mins (Lost Kingdom Adventure). While this park has a massive kids areas all over, there are still a few adult friendly attractions, such as world famous Miniland with its usual attention to detail and the robotics hands on experience Lego Mindstorms. Food in the park is considered acceptable (but not really good) for theme parks, and it is surprisingly cheaper than Genting Highlands in Malaysia, starting from RM15 per meal. Ride photos are also much cheaper than other nearby attractions, at RM30 (compared to SGD20 (RM50) in USS and RM 50 in Genting). The only attractions that need additional fee is the game stalls at Lego Kingdoms and Land of Adventure, though I must say that the prizes are uber-difficult to win. My favourite attraction there is Lego Mindstorms and it requires advanced reservations earlier in the day (slots are more competitive that Disney Fastpasses for Soarin, at 11am there were only 2 timeslots left). On a a side note, my group actually spotted several damages even though we visited the park just 2 months after its opening. Are the other legoland parks also so prone to such damage (I don't recall seeing anything like this from other parks like USS or HK Disneyland). Please do drop by at seconddrop.blogspot.sg for a detailed trip report.
  3. Hi, I cannot find any posts about this so I decided to create one myself. Adventure Cove Waterpark opened in the Spring of last year as part of Resort's World Sentosa's Marine Life Park Expansion. Occupying an area of about 15 acres, this small Waterpark still packs a big punch for having a number of special attractions like Rainbow Reef (snorkeling, similar to Discovery Cove) and one of the longest lazy rivers in the world. Overall experience: The first thing one realizes when he enters the park is that it's theming is really stunning (for water park standards). With carvings of mysterious creatures and other legends of the deep, I felt like I was in Atlantis or something like that. Unfortunately, because of its small size, the number of slides is significantly lower and they also tend to cramp very close together. Staff in general are very young, vibrant and friendly, though I do not like to photographers who will break your fun so that you have an opportunity to purchase SGD35 (USD 28) souvenir photos. Rides: My favourite attraction there is the Adventure River. It is very long, at 642 meters, and includes several exciting features including an aquarium like tunnel, stingray exhibits and a dark grotto. The pacing of the water is about 0.5 meters per second, and it translates to a 20 minute long experience. There is also a snorkeling reef and the fish density there is really high. It makes the whole place look colourful and vibrant. No doubt the biggest draw is the water coaster Riptide Rocket. It is a Proslide Hydromagnetic Pipeline attraction through nearly 1000 feet of slide and includes 3 upward launches. Personally, though, I think that the drops in the ride are too small (I do not feel much dropping sensation) and I much prefer the Hydromagnetic Mammoths like Mammoth at Holiday World Splashin Safari. There is also a pair of mat racers called Dueling Racer, though due to space constraint there are only 2 lanes. There are 6 slides in total. The wave pool is quite nice, and there are life jackets provided for non-swimmers. However, I think that the lull period between waves of 15 minutes is too long, and it is not uncommon to see guests being bored once the waves are over. There are also sandy relaxation areas in the more remote areas of the park, though from what I see no one even notices them. Park Operations: As usual, this is Safety Paranoid Singapore, so the number of lifeguards is just astounding to say the least. On the Adventure River, there is like a lifeguard every 20m, and their director of safety told me they needed 65 lifeguards just to keep that 1 attraction open. Also, the lifeguards will not dispatch new riders until the previous has completely cleared the splash pool. This means lines move very slowly. On weekends, 90minute queues for a 30 second slide is not uncommon. Also, lockers are SGD10, and a set meal in the park will set you back SGD12, so a family of 4 is likely to spend SGD150-200 on a trip to Adventure Cove. For more info, you may refer to my blog here.
  4. I have seen the construction work of Battlestar Galactica at the park. It is honestly too soon to tell what exactly is happening. However, what is clear is that the scaffolding only wraps around the entrance of Human side. In fact, even the l0ck3r area just beside the attraction entrance is not affected by the construction work (there is still a rope cordoning it off, though). There seems to be a few more pieces of scaffolding behind the translucent films. This makes me wonder if it means the park is trying to modify or restore the entrance in preparation for its return. What really puzzles me is why only the human side is affected. I will imagine that if there is a redesign of the ride theme, both sides will be affected. The only thing special about the human side entrance is that that wheelchair bound guests are required to use human side regardless of whether they are riding human or cylon. So perhaps they are modifying the wheelchair accessible paths?
  5. Wow, I am impressed that there are still so many people visiting after the park has closed. Here is my analysis of what kind of attractions to expect!. Particuarly, the released images indicate to me 1) There might be a b&m flyer or wingrider coming 2) The musical fountain concept is so awesomely romantic Also, please take note that some indoor attractions like Genting Skyventure (similar to I-Fly) are closed as well!
  6. 1) People who jump between the normal and single rider queue lines 2) Parents who force their scared young children to take the big scary rides
