No news here. But how was your visit? Was Superman open? My visit was great! Superman was unfortunately closed for annual maintenance. My rides were as follows... The Joker - x2 Wonder Woman Lasso of Truth v2: Vertical Velocity Kong Medusa Daredevil Chaos Coaster Boomerang I entered the park at opening...memo to members: all the lines at the entrance take memberships. I walked straight over to The Joker and basically walked on (two train wait). Operations were good, although the ride operator seemed slightly less than excited that we were all there. Nevertheless, I got seated in the front row and really enjoyed the ride. The Joker is absolutely in my top 10 coasters. I loved how convoluted the layout was and the airtime pops were awesome. (10/10) After the Joker, I west straight to v2, which was walk on. I rode in the front row on this as well. Good ride, although not as good as it’s sister in Chicago. (7/10) I decided to round out the superhero area and get a ride in on Wonder Woman. Since my home park is SFOT, I had already ridden a giant discovery, but I enjoy these rides so much. SFDK definitely has a winner on its hands (9/10) This is the part of the day when I started making stupid choices. I decided that, having never ridden a Vekoma SLC, I should give Kong a try. It was walk on, and for good reason. It was only slightly less rough than X2...and that’s saying something, and unfortunately, not very thrilling. I’d hope Six Flags is investigating options to revamp or replace this coaster. (2/10) After Kong, I headed straight over to Medusa. Despite being in desperate need of a new paint job, the ride is fantastic. I was also pleasantly surprised at how quiet the ride was. I had to skip a second ride, but the coaster was solid. (6/10) After Medusa, I decided to be super stupid and try the Daredevil Chaos Coaster. Not my cup of tea, just leave it there. (4/10) I took off immediately for boomerang, walked on and immediately regretted my decision. I’ve gotten to old for Boomerangs (2/10) I got another ride on the Joker before heading out. All in all, a great day!

I’m visiting the park for the first time tomorrow, and noticed that Superman is closed today. Anyone have any information regarding the closure?

What about a Mack power splash like Pulsar at Walibi Belgium? That would be a spectacular look on the entry lake.

I have a quick question...my wife and I visited SFGADV on October 30 and rode just about everything. We found however, that Green Lantern was nearly unbearable as a ride. Does anyone know if this is an issue with B&M stand ups or is this ride just aging badly?

^Runaway Mountain is indeed a great ride, but it lacks ridership over the other coasters in the park, especially with the new revolution being implemented on Shockwave this season.

I know that I'm going to catch hell for this since its June, but with my visit to the park last week, I have started wondering what the future holds for SFOT. It seems to me that while the old shopping area behind Gotham City may be easiest to construct a new ride (specifically if SFOT is slated to be the next 4D FreeFly, as the theming would flow right into it), however, Runaway Mountain and the area adjacent would be prime real estate for a new ride. It also occurs to me that the last 100% new coaster construction in the park occurred nearly 10 years ago (Tony Hawks Big Spin/ Pandemonium). I'd love to see SFOT build a dive coaster. I just rode Sheikra and loved it. Thoughts?

I can't say enough about how great Celebrity is! My fiancé and I started our cruising on Carnival, upgraded to Royal, and finally landed on Celebrity at the advice of a friend. It only took one sailing with them for us to realize Celebrity would always be our preferred cruise line. The service is top notch and the attention to detail is down right scary when it comes to making sure everything is right with your trip. As was pointed out the average age of cruisers is older than most other lines but I think this is a huge plus! My fiancé and I are 30 and 32 so we stick out like a sore thumb on most of our cruises. This however proved to be a good thing when we were on our two week cruise in the Caribbean. The staff commented many times to us that we were the youngest couple they had seen, which meant they remembered us, which meant it didn't take long before the excellent service went through the roof. The bartenders finally had someone their age to talk to and someone who understands good tipping. It didn't take long before most of your drinks were heavily loaded and free. When I am on a cruise I want relaxation and a calm atmosphere, which is exactly what you get when everyone else around you is 65+ years old. It was never loud, no one was stumbling around drunk, most people were in bed by 9pm, it was easy to find a seat at any bar/pool/sun deck, and hardly any kids. Easily the best food I have ever had on a cruise. It would rival most 5 star restaurants in any city and that is just the food that is included with the price of the cruise. Even the room service food was mouth watering. I also love that they still try to keep a level of class and elegance aboard the ship in the evening, even on non-formal nights. It is not required but strongly encouraged that a "smart-casual" attire be worn throughout the ship after 6pm. I have to say I loved this and it was nice not seeing every guy in board shorts and a Hurley t-shirt. They really push luxury on their ships and it is evident from the moment you board when they had you a glass of champagne. At every port they set up a nice tent with wicker furniture at the gangway and handout cold towels and punch if its hot. In Alaska it was hot chocolate and coffee. I have not been on the Infinity but we did take the Millennium (same class) on an Alaskan cruise last May. The ship was older but still very clean, well maintained, and luxurious. The cruise itself was amazing as Alaska has some of the most beautiful views you can see while at sea. That particular cruise was only 7 days but after we docked we had an extended "land cruise" with Celebrity which took us another 6 days up into Alaska. This was a great experience to see a lot of Alaska with a great tour guide from Celebrity. I highly recommend this if you ever take an Alaskan cruise. The best part I love about Celebrity is the deals they will offer you for a future cruise while on your current cruise. That is exactly how we book ours each year. Our next cruise is an 11 day sailing in the Western Caribbean this November. We booked while on our Alaskan cruise last year and they gave us some damn good deals. They upgraded us to the highest Concierge Class level, gave us the top tier drink package, prepaid gratuities, and $500 onboard credit. They really know how to take care of future cruises far better than any other line. Like I said, I can't say enough good stuff about them. If there is anything in particular you want to know just ask. If you want to see a short video I made of our Caribbean cruise just go I'll leave you with a parting shot from Alaska. As a guest entertainer, I have travelled all over the Carribbean, Alaska, South America and most recently, I made the Transatlatic Crossing from Miami to Lisbon, all with Celebrity Cruise Lines. If you are looking a more traditional cruise experience with a modern twist, theses ships absolutely cannot be topped. I have sailed on the Silhoutte, Solstice, Eclipse, Equinox, Infinity and Millenium all within the span of the last eighteen months. The infinity is a wonderful ship with a fantastic crew. While not the biggest of the fleet, the Infinity allows you more than enough room to roam, and plenty to do and to see. The infinity is complete with every amenity and luxury one would expect to find onboard a cruise ship, including great staterooms, a full casino, shopping promenade, a wealth of nightclubs and bars, both indoor and outdoor pools, an incredible spa and gym, and a massive Broadway/Vegas styled theater. My favorite part of the ship, outside the theater, of course, is the specialty restaurant Q'sine. You will experience one of the most unique and un-ordinary menus. All celebrity ships offer a great selection of dining options, so wherever and whatever you choose to eat, you can find something you'll love! If you have never cruised before, I highly recommend starting with an Alaskan cruise. Alaskan cruises are moderate in length (7-10 days) and offer breathtaking scenery and extremely placid waters, albeit a bit chilly. Happy sailing!

My wife and I returned to visit SFGAm today with family. We used the coke promo to get ERT access on Goliath. We waited about 45 minutes to ride and were exceedingly impressed with the park officials and ride operators making sure that only members of the GP who qualified for ERT were allowed to wait in line. Goliath is a fantastic coaster, as well as a magnificent addition to the park. As an experience, Goliath does a fantastic job of hitting you with a 1-2 punch with its elements and pacing. As a comparison to Outlaw Run, Goliath has a much smoother performance with the polyurethane wheels and is vastly more quiet and menacing in its appearance, but the wild factor still impresses me with Outlaw Run. The park grew in attendance all day, and we continued to be impressed with the ride management staff. Because we were with children, we were able to experience many of the rides geared toward them. As always, the park was clean, friendly and fun.

^^ Powder Keg is actually one of the most reliable rides in the park. In the more than 20 times I've visited in the last year, I have only seen the ride down for extremely cold temperatures. As a regular of the park, and a Bransonite to boot, I would say your best option is to arrive early to the park (SDC has a fabulous breakfast buffet if you're interested), and head directly down into Wilson's Farm and Outlaw Run. The chances of getting in a re-ride are higher if you are among the first guests to ride. OUTLAW RUN experiences some downtime, mostly related to issues with new technologies the ride employs. From Outlaw Run, you are best served to hit the Giant Barn Swing and continue around to Powder Keg. Powder Keg can have pretty extensive lines, but the staff are pretty incredible at working through the lines. From Powder Keg, you have two options that generally have low wait times; Wildfire and Fire in the Hole, the latter being SDC's oldest ride attraction and more family oriented. Although there are many great food options around the park, there is an incredibly high concentration of restaurants and food stands in the Wildfire/ Powder Keg area, if you're hungry. There are several ways to get up to the Valley Road section of the park and ThuNderaTion. ThuNderaTion is, generally speaking, a walk on ride experience. I have only seen two train operations once. The best ride experience is to be had in the back three cars, where the 540 Degree helix and valley sections of the ride are particularly intense. From here, it's an easy Jog over to the Grand Exposition, which has some fantastic carnival-style attractions, or back just across the way to the ever popular Train, which is a show as well as a ride. You might also check out the Flooded Mine which is a floating shooting gallery style attraction, right next door to the train. If you don't mind damp clothes, SDC also contains three wet attractions, Lost River Of the Ozarks and the American Plunge (NOTE: Both rides will leave you significantly soaked) and Tom and Huck's River Battle (which may or may not leave you wet). SDC is also hosting its Bluegrass and. Barbecue festival right now which features some great musical acts and even better Barbecue.
