  1. It's a welcome addition because there aren't any coasters for the under 1.1m's at Efteling. But compared to Eftelings normal efforts this kind of seems a bit rushed and the lack of theming doesn't help. You couldn't see Europa Park or Phantasialand installing this with-out loads of theming, seems a bit of a missed opportunity.
  2. I live about 20 miles away from this plot of land and it's in such a busy road location. It's located near to the Dartford crossing on the M25 which apart from the other side of the M25 where the junction is to the M4 is (Legoland is located here) is probably one of the busiest motorway sections in Europe. It looks like they will build a new bridge or tunnel crossing a few miles down the road but this could be 10 years away. Maybe they see all the passing traffic as a good thing but I'm not sure how many families would see it as a positive, fighting there way back though the traffic at the end of the day.
  3. Won't be long before Merlin have more accomodation options than rides at all their parks!
  4. I visited in 2002 and then again at the start of 2017, the only new attraction in the main park in all that time was Buzz Lightyear.......15 years with one new ride! I think its says a lot about how good big thunder mountain is that attendance stays that high. The less said about the studios park the better. Think there are rumours about some sort of revamp coming this Spring but who knows.
  5. I would imagine the money is coming from the hotels at Alton. I live just outside London and have a 6 and a 2 year old and I never visit Chessington or Thorpe (Thorpe for obvious reasons), Chessington hasn't had any real investment for years now apart from the two new hotels. I would still always prefer to visit Alton as it just has a nicer atmosphere, the new coaster will also help. I find Legoland incredibly expensive. I would have thought with the new coaster, Merlin would be going all out on great customer service this year to make people remember how good their visit was, people that may not have been for a while. Seems counter productive to open a big new ride (heavy marketing) and increased attendance and then actively try and make peoples visit worse.
  6. This is just going to be a very solid family, low thrill coaster with a 1.2m height restriction so similar to Thirteen or Paultons new suspended coaster. Which the park need pretty badly. The theme is just to make the ride to a wider base of people than just families. The dark theme will appeal to adults and teens and the fact my 6 year old can ride what she thinks is a big adult ride appeals my daughter very much. The fact the park has 3 nice coasters for the under 1.2m market now I realise isnt that important to the enthusiast but as a dad to a 6 and 3 year old is a draw.
  7. £9 per person per ride!!!! Is there some sort of family discount, to take my wife and two kids on a major ride it's going to cost me £36?
  8. Not sure whether Mustic timbers is on a flat site but there is a hell of a lot of ground works on a site like this, don't also forget they had to remove the old log flume as well.
  9. We will see what the marketing stuff says I guess but I think what the park (and Merlin) do is general is build a family attraction with a low height restriction, something like Thirteen and then stick a more adult theme on it. This way it appeals to a broader audience and they can market it to wider audience. I guess adults are slightly disapointed in it but kids love it. Thirteen still gets pretty decent queues now after all the hype died down so it must be a fairly decent attraction.
  10. Because the park has a tired 30 year old flume ride that needed to be replaced and needed another family ride to replace it with. This is much the same as Mystic Timbers, Heidi or InvadR.
  11. Does it actually have a world's first, maybe I've missed it (probably have) but I don't remember seeing anything offically released saying there is a world's first element? Is it not just guess work as Merlin normally try and attach a gimmick?
  12. It's just a decent family ride with I would imagine a 1.2 meter height restriction replacing another family ride that was very old and tired and nobody rode. Merlin have been incredibly guilty before of over-hyping stuff but they haven't released much yet apart from a name and logo and a few videos. This is just coaster enthusiasts building a fun family coaster up into something it's not. I'm sure my 5 year old daughter is going to love it and that's what Merlin want through the gates, families that spend the money.
  13. It's a good ride but it's much more family orientated than say Transformers or Spiderman, when we rode it my son was 6 months old and he rode and enjoyed it, there is nothing like that in DL so it makes a nice addition. My kids loved it and personally along with TOT I thought it was the best ride in the Studios park........but that's not saying a lot!
  14. I probably shouldn't have put it on here, but I think it's becoming more well know. A UK centre parcs break in school holidays starts at £799 in Feb half term and goes up to £999 in summer holidays. European centre parcs and about half the price, some years there school holidays don't fall at the same time like last February and it's less than half the price. You can do days trips to Efteling, Toverland, Walbi, Movie Park and Phantasialand plus more quite easilly. You can see a crawl with all the cars with bikes strapped to the back driving up on the Saturday and Monday mornings.
  15. A lot of people travel out of the UK over to the centre parcs in Belgium and Holland over the school holidays because they are pretty much 50% cheaper than the UK resorts. All these parks are pretty close to Efteling so it's getting much more attention than it use to, one of the centre parcs (Het Meerdal) also do a deal that gets you a weeks entry into Toverland for a single days tickets, so whilst I completly agree that DLP is a much more well known in the UK, other European parks are slowly becoming more recognised. How-ever it wouldn't take much from Disney (star wars land) to grab a whole bunch of media attention and drag the spot-light back on Disney in a big way. The breakfast expeierence at Santa Fe was horrific but it does save about £30+ a day for a family of 4 which adds up if you are visiting for a few days.
