  1. Between Goliath opening to the public and whatever "Coasterfest" is, Memorial Day weekend is going to be a madhouse.
  2. I'm pretty sure Duane from RCDB has one. He posted some pics from over Hades 360 on his Twitter back in June.
  3. Y'know what's a shame? That there's no concrete kinds of numbers for the amount of kids who go to a Sea World park, get exposed to these animals, and as a result, go on to become something that promotes the future betterment of animals. The little girl who pets a stingray for the first time and goes on to become a marine biologist, the little boy that had never really given any thought to these creatures before but becomes a vet, even the teenager who finally discovers his calling and becomes a zoologist...there's no way to accurately track the number of times this kind of thing happens. It's an invisible positive. Has Sea World probably engaged in some borderline shady practices at some points? I'm sure they have. But so has Busch, Six Flags...even Disney got in some serious trouble years ago with mistreatment of some indigenous birds on the old Discovery Island. No one's hands are sterile in the theme park industry. To me, the good outweighs the bad. The real test will be when the attendance numbers are released, and we see if this thing had any real effect. And that Journey To Atlantis dip is the wettest I have ever gotten on a ride, bar none.
  4. No, It should explore how Journey to Atlantis doesn't get you wet, Has broken effects, and shows you the twist in the queue line TV's On my last visit several years ago, the short dip after the big visual drop flooded my boat, I couldn't tell what was "broken" and what was "garbage", and the queue monitors that were working featured a generic Sea World logo. Was I lucky, or not? Hell, I can't tell.
  5. The next documentary expose of Sea World should explore why they used selections from the Beetlejuice soundtrack in Journey To Atlantis.
  6. Anyone wanting to prevent blight on the Dells strip had best take a time machine back to 1965.
  7. The Whizzer was open until 9, we were on the last train out. Crowds were substantial, but manageable. The weather was pretty temperate all day, I think a lot more people stayed later than had planned.
  8. Best I can tell, it's flooded at the lowest point coming out of the second corkscrew. It probably never got any higher than that, I'm assuming the park wouldn't operate the ride if the water level rose enough to actually contact the train. I miss the days that waterfall looked like tomato soup. Then it went clear, and then intermittently. I'm always hoping for a permanent return.
  9. To the best of my knowledge, the Demon's track was never submerged at either park. The closest the track came to water was on the entrance to the corkscrews, as it passed the waterfall. Not really sure what I'm looking at at 1:28, although that's what SFGAm's corkscrews have felt like for the past five years or so. EDIT: Well, shut my mouth. It's difficult to see, but the track (not the rails) is submerged at one point in that vid. I'd hazard a guess that's because of some one time water level abberation (flooding?) at the CA version, because IL's has never been like that. Good eye, mate. Good eye.
  10. Oh, of course. I'm sure Starlight Express there is the only thing restraining what appears to be a full grown German Shepherd. You've seen the previous 23 pages of discussion, right?
  11. I'm sure it was mostly a financial decision to reuse the station, but I'd like to think there was some sense of history from the folks at the park. Personally, I'm thrilled. That's the station where it took all day for my thirteen year old ass to gather enough balls to ride Z-Force, got in line at about 9:58pm. That f-ed up looking structure, all lit up at night...what a visual. It's also where I bookended Iron Wolf (first day it opened and last day of operation), front row, last public train out. I'm looking forward to a third set of memories with Goliath. The park (and also the chain as a whole) knocked this one out of the park. I'm a 76er, and a usual SP since I could drive. I had been pretty down on them in the Shapiro era, but I've been impressed with the turnaround of the operations of the park (opening at 10:30 notwithstanding, but c'mon...). They basically won back my patronage, and I'm kinda liking the jealousy from other parts of the country.
  12. The Eagle's old queue in the circus tent (one of the odd features of the park I'm glad they kept around) was pretty ridiculous back in the day, at least until the mid to late 80's. A constantly shuffling mass of humanity where one couldn't really even see the coaster you were waiting for. Z-Force used to have people spilling out on to the midway, and a lot of rubberneckers would just stop and stare at the structure (which to me, always looked cooler at night). If I had to pick one queue I really miss, it would have to be the Tidal Wave, with the sand, beach grass, and weathered rope and post accents. Now THAT was theming just for theming's sake. Anyone who hasn't checked out Steven's site is missing some incredible stuff.
  13. The Eagle and Cajun cars were both in there during the Enthusiast Day tour, and that was about a month ago.
  14. That area haunted by/formerly home to Iron Wolf is pretty narrow, and really wouldn't allow a car ride track shaped like anything but a paperclip. That area is also right across the fence from an employee area, and I doubt they want to listen to that racket all day. People tend to forget how loud those things were.
