  1. Thanks for your prejudice, but I'd be willing to bet it all that I've done more caring acts within the past year, with tangible results, than you might in a 100 lifetimes. I'm not easily offended, but you just shit on a lot of people in here who are American, and believe it or not, caring people.

  4. Since when is it okay to generalize an country of 300 million on a fucking roller coaster fourm? The are caring people and assholes in America just like any other country. Rode Skyrush for the first time since opening year, I hated it then but found it much more enjoyable this time, and it still felt very intense. Wonder what they did do it.

  5. I was visiting friends I made in Korea, first some in Niagara, and then a couple days later when I met some friends who lived in Pennsylvania, they offered to take me to a park for my birthday and my choices were Knobels, Kennywood, or Hershey's but they also threw in the option of Cedar Point and grabbing a cheap motel to make it two days there to justify the drive. I chose Cedar Point but still regret not getting a chance to try Skyrush or pretty much all of Knobels.

  7. Avalanche closed for the season is confirmed. At the top of the Avalanche page on their website (and on the roller coasters page) it says... "Avalanche will be closed for the 2021 season." https://www.kingsdominion.com/play/rides/avalanche

  8. Had the opportunity to ride Kondaa four times yesterday. This is what Walibi Belgium desperately needed: a thrilling rollercoaster with an orignal layout and within a good themed area. Had two middle row rides, one in the back and one almost in the front row. In the early morning, the ride is already amazing, but in some spots it just missed the expected 'umpf'. My backseat ride was in the late afternoon and maaaaaan... The forces and airtime are insane. It changed the ride experience from 'amazing' to 'mindblowing fantastic'! LOVE the first drop and the following two airtimehills! The ride is also super smooth. Is this my favorite rollercoaster? Don't know. Maybe? Can't really tell. But it's the best ride of my homepark for sure! I hope this ride, and all the other new improvements, help Walibi Belgium to gain more visitors and popularity! My last ride was an hour from closing. When we entered the first drop, it startend pouring rain like Hell! Although the pain on my face was almost unbearable, the forces and speed made me disorientated like never before. In-sane. Love the views you get from the queue!

  9. For me, the REAL question is whether Storm Runner or Knoebel's Flyers will open first. And not even joking, because one opening before the other would really sway where I'd go to first once the parks are open for daily operations...

  10. Like Elissa said, I think the fact that Velocicoaster has been consistently testing since November helps its reliability now. That is over 5 months of working out bugs. And the block system is much less complicated than Hagrid's it seems. I do think crapping on Intamin's reliability is outdated. Their newer rides (that are simple and proven concepts, not crazy prototypes) seem equally reliable as new Mack launch coasters, new RMCs, or even new B&Ms. I am happy to hear it is running consistently. Velocicoaster and Iron Gwazi were both at the top of my list for "awesome new rides that I NEED to ride when I move to FL this summer." At least one of those coasters is open to rave reviews and consistent operation. The other is a beautiful statue that should be located in a museum.

  14. I visited Atlanta last week to see the Phillies play against the Braves and also went to SFOG last Saturday. It was my first time visiting the park as well my first trip to any Six Flags park besides Great Adventure. The park really exceeded my expectations. Operations were great with multiple trains on the coasters and fast dispatches. The employees were also great. I expected my favorite coaster was going to be either Twisted Cyclone or Goliath and while they were fun, my favorite might have been Dare Devil Dive. It was so smooth and I'm always a fan of a coaster with inversions and just a lap bar. The non coaster ride selection was also great. I liked how there was a train that gave a history of the park and past rides which was good when taking a break from the coasters. Monster Mansion was also very impressive for a Six Flags parks with all the animatronics throughout the ride. If I am ever back in the Atlanta area, I want to return to the park especially because I missed Mindbender which has been on my coaster bucket list for a while.

  15. Just got back from Opening Day at Waldameer. Overall enjoyed my visit as usual. Some of my observations: - X Scream and Sea Dragon were down. When we were leaving, Wipeout was being worked on as well, but it was running earlier. - Mask wearing was about 70% not wearing to 30% wearing. Many employees were not wearing them either. Being fully vaxed and wearing my mask, I am not overly upset about it, but I was surprised. - inside the Whacky Shack, the park painted the interior of the rotating drum, making the effect much more convincing. All stunts were working as well. I love the fact that the park maintains this classic dark ride so well. - Ravine Flyer 2 was running great. Lots of track work was done including the 90 degree banked turn and it maintained its speed quite well. Such a great coaster. - It boggles my mind how many people wait until opening day to process their season passes. That line was enormous. Despite the park offering a couple days before the park opened (and even having a few rides open), most people seem to enjoy waiting. Hey, to each their own. Again, I enjoyed my time at the park and it was just great to be out on a gorgeous day. Heading to Cedar Point with my season long FL next Friday. I saw that Math and Physics Days are going on each Friday in May, so it might not be a long visit!

  16. Sports took a year off with fans, but now it’s back! And so is this thread! First up, the braves new stadium, Truist park. It’s about 10ish miles outside the downtown area in the middle of a business complex, but they built a nice “citywalk” style place outside to give fans and locals more reason to visit. It’s not going to be memorable as a classic stadium, but it does pack all the modern amenities in to make for a nice experience. a staple of every stadium is statues honoring their teams great players. Atlanta is no exception. Probably the coolest thing in the stadium is they did a version of “monument park” inside the concourse featuring all the teams greats and showcasing the teams history terrapin has a brewery on site as part of the shopping center where they brew some beers exclusive to the stadium. With covid protocols, only this stand was open and not the whole restaurant inside every modern stadium also needs a kids play area. This one had a whole midway of carnival games and even a small zip line ride. every seat on the lower level had mesh (much needed for summer heat) and a club to go to to purchase food and drink. My seats had the chipper jokes club, which due to covid just functioned as a normal snack stand and not full club menu. ...but the concourse did have a 2ft burrito for sale, so naturally I had that. Barely finished it. some overview shots. Definitely a nice place to catch a game, but not a place that will be remembered as an all time great stadium.

  17. Yesterday was my first opening day visit to Cedar Point. After last year's dreary closing day (and what felt like an especially long winter), I felt great being back at the park and really enjoyed my visit. BRTeller captures a lot of my thoughts well, but a few additional/reinforcing points (all from the perspective of someone with Fast Lane Plus): Most guests were unmasked outdoors (including on rides), but masked indoors. Virtually no one social distanced, and the midways felt packed. I didn't mind, but as BRTeller says, people should understand what they're getting themselves into and understand that the park doesn't seem to be enforcing masks or social distancing at all. Interestingly, employee mask usage was very inconsistent. Many employees were wearing masks outdoors, but many weren't, and mask wearing almost seemed to vary by ride crew. I wonder what the official employee policy is. I didn't wait in any, but the food and beverage lines all looked insanely long, longer than I've ever seen before. Maybe it's an opening weekend phenomenon with so many enthusiasts at the park, but Fast Lane (Plus) seemed oversold. It seemed like almost half of all riders had it, defeating its purpose. Steel Vengeance's new locker system allows riders to keep their phones in line without reducing the ride's capacity; however, the Fast Lane Plus line is now longer than it was before (due to the addition of a Millennium Force ramp-like merged line), and the process of merging and re-splitting the FLP and standby lines feels clunky. But the park looks to have invested a lot in these modifications, so I expect them to stick. Beware: the early ride closures are no joke, at least if opening day is any indication. It seems like the park wants to cycle all riders off all rides by park close. I got off Skyhawk 8 minutes prior to park close and immediately started running to find something else to get in line for. I managed to pass several rides in those 8 minutes, but not only were all the lines already closed, most of the lines (e.g. Maverick, Millennium Force) were already nearly empty. Some rides (e.g. Iron Dragon, Derby Downs) had already seemingly powered down! I entered what seemed like an open and short Power Tower line 2 minutes prior to close, but an attendant immediately ran out to shoo me away. I understand this is an unusual year for the park with limited staff (and money?); however, I think the park needs to be more upfront about and consistent with these early closures, especially considering it's such a shift from the park's pre-pandemic policy of keeping all ride lines open until 5 to 10 minutes after close. For example, the park could post "this ride closes [x] hour(s) before park close" at ride entrances, or simply shorten the park hours. But saying the park closes at 8pm when there's little to do after 7pm seems dishonest to me, and if the overflowing Guest Services line is any indication, bad for customer relations. Also, it may be a coincidence, but this was the most congested exit (park and parking lot) I've ever experienced outside of Halloweekends.

  18. I finally returned to Knott’s yesterday after 433 days (yes, I asked Siri how long ago was March 7, 2020). It felt so nice to be back at the park. I have never gone this long without visiting Knott’s since I was a toddler. I will NEVER take parks for granted again! It was a wonderful visit. Oddly enough, the slowest moving line was Silver Bullet and the fastest was GhostRider. Quite the contrary on a normal operating day. The upper and lower floors of GhostRider’s building were extremely socially-distant, only utilizing a few switchbacks, and they were keeping an empty row between parties on the train. It moved very quickly. The line started outside the building and I waited approximately 30 minutes both times. Still a wonderful coaster that will forever be one of my favorites. I cannot believe the re-tracking was 5 years ago now. It still runs like the day it reopened! Silver Bullet was a bit more frustrating. The line still moved quite well, but I don’t understand why are they are loading every other row on this coaster. It just doesn’t make sense when people are much closer together (and for a longer period of time) in the queue line. But at this point, I didn’t really care. I was just so excited to be back at the park. Hopefully they start loading all rows again soon and this coaster goes back to being the capacity monster of the park. Even at half capacity, it keeps the line moving “enough” to not be unbearable. Xcelerator and HangTime were both running very well, and their respective queues were quite manageable. Xcelerator was never too far down the ramp. They are also running two trains, which is nice to see, but really does not help capacity too much for anyone familiar with this ride’s block system setup and operation. They were loading one party per car, which is actually quite similar to pre-COVID days. A few empty seats per train but it felt like pretty normal operations. Same goes for HangTime. This coaster hardly ever filled every seat pre-COVID. There was always an empty seat or two per row, so this coaster’s operations felt normal as well. They just weren’t grouping pairs of two or singles. The line was never more than 20 minutes. Managed to get a front row ride. This is still a wonderful addition to the park, and I will never get over how much of an improvement it is to Boomerang. One of the best additions the park has made in the last decade. And the lighting package, of course, is fantastic. It really livens up the Boardwalk. I didn’t wanna brave the line for Bear-y Tales. The new facade and theming seems very nice and much improved over Voyage to the Iron Reef. But I’m just not a big dark ride person, and the line was not worth it to me yesterday. I know how slow-moving it is from my experience with Iron Reef. I will ride it eventually. I am moving to Florida next month, but I plan on returning to California around the Holidays for a bit. Hopefully the park is open to out-of-state visitors by then. But Bear-y Tales does seem like a great upgrade. I am excited to ride it eventually! Overall this was one of the best visits to the park I’ve had in a while. Part of me actually enjoys the socially-distanced lines and how quickly they move. Even pre-COVID, the cattle pen queue lines were never enjoyable. I’ll attach a few photos from yesterday. If you are a SoCal resident and a pass-holder, I HIGHLY recommend visiting before it opens to everybody on the 21st. Crowds are very reasonable, all rides are open and running at decent capacity, and food facilities hardly had lines. The 10pm closing was also great for night rides! Knott’s is BACK!

  19. yeah. . if you see it operating. . go over there. it's a decent drop tower, but the main reason to ride is the spectacular views you get - Mach Tower rotates the gondola as it raises. totally worth it for that portion, even if the actual drop part of the ride is only so-so.

  20. Last week I had the opportunity to attend an annual passholder preview of the Jurassic World VelociCoaster at Universal's Islands of Adventure... I'll start the report by simply saying this thing is AWESOME! The VelociCoaster is designed with a fun first half that weaves in and out of itself after the first launch before throwing you into a much more intense second half. The drop coming off of the top hat gives some insane airtime and the inverted stall is such a neat maneuver. The final roll over the water is also intense and flips you only a few feet above the lagoon. All of this said, the coaster flies over and around the guest paths and viewing areas without nets, which makes these flyovers even more exciting--this is accomplished by requiring all riders to put their belongs (save for their park tickets/annual passes) in the lockers in the queue so nothing is dropped below. The lockers are double sided, so you load them in the queue and you access the other side and open the locker in the exit flow. The queue for the coaster is very cleverly designed, wrapping around the ride in key areas and setting the story of a rollercoaster in the raptor paddock being the newest attraction in Jurassic World, the still-open dinosaur park on Isla Nublar. The coaster sits inside of the Jurassic Park island with some of the land's design elements matching Jurassic World's aesthetic while others still tie into the Jurassic Park's styling. Let's take a look around... This view greets you as you enter the park... The top hat's wide curve is deceiving--that drop feels way more steep than it looks. There are many spots outside of Jurassic Park where the coaster can be seen running. Hello beastie! According to one of the creative team for the project (on Twitter), these raptors facing off against each other is a not to the former entrance sculpture that was once at Dueling Dragons. Outward banked airtime! Hangtime! Such a great dive! I really do love that there are no nets beneath the coaster. The plaza is full of kinetic energy. No nets! In case you were wondering where the entrance is in relation to the Jurassic Park Discovery Center. Dive! Dive! Dive! So great! Looks so great! The entrance of the queue is covered but not fully enclosed. Despite this, giant fans help to keep the space well cooled. This queue space is absolutely filled with dynamic lighting. There's definitely nods to different elements of the franchise's iconography throughout the queue. Very cool. Hard to photograph, but Robb & Elissa's video shows the effect really well. The raptors chase after the trains as they go through their second launch. BD Wong's Dr. Henry Wu makes an appearance for several videos in the queue. I can't say I expected animatronics to be featured in the queue... Clever girl! I love that they brought Mr. DNA into the queue loops! A look at the double-sided lockers. inGen gets a nod in the exit of the attraction. There is a separate location for single riders to use lockers. A pop-up VelociCoaster Store has been set up at the ground floor of the Jurassic Park Discovery Center, which double's as the exit path for the VelociCoaster. Merch, merch, merch. Walking around Jurassic Park, you can get some more fun views of the coaster in motion. My favorite photo spot because you can see the train move through a ton of different portions of the first half of the coaster. Here is the first launch... Going up... Going down... Heading into the second launch... In the back row you get a bit of hangtime as you move through this element. Hairtime! Prepare to be launched! VelociCoaster is a great addition to the Universal Orlando Resort and a fantastic addition to Central Florida's world-class collection of coasters!
