  1. Mods can we please edit the title? The English major in me is having a heart attack. "Coaster You've Ridden That is Furthest From Your Home" Please and thanks.

  2. time for some more Cedar points pictures. The next day started cloudy but it get pretty warm that day. Fun times walking around in the sun, not having to stress about getting or rides and taking lots of pictures Here's a couple from that day. nice way to start the day, it was fast.. and long (ish) but that was it (for me) I had been in Expedition GeForce just a couple of weeks earlier.. and that ran crazy awesome that day, so this just felt mehh maverick was so much fun to ride and look at still wondering what would be with the inversion here..

  4. Well the woodies run one train all the time...and the ops are hit or miss so those lines can range from 45 minutes to an hour and half, although they tend to change throughout the day. The park counts their busy season as the 4th of July through Labor Day, but some days are better than others. Days to definitely stay away from are Opening Weekend, 4th of July, Toyota Tuesdays, or pretty much any day the waterpark is closed. Boulder Beach (the attached waterpark) is the "people eater" for the park, so not having it open really puts too much of a burden on the theme park. I think the Canadian bo

  5. ^Fixed! Oh, and I may be able to win this one! Offhand my guess would be the time I rode the mall roller coaster in Adelaide, Australia when I lived in Sarasota, FL. Total distance: 9,992.86 mi (16,081.95 km)

  6. I wonder if they could put the new lap bar only restraints on Maverick. That would be AWESOME!!

  7. Or they could just close it and leave it rot and not put anything there, which is the cheapest and likeliest option.

  10. Everyone focusing on the record-breaking, and talking about most inversions just reminds me of the original Smiler rumors that the first section of track would be a washing machine style spinning piece of track that could be adjusted to make sure the ride never lost its record of most inversions. I know marketing loves the word record breaking but it can be anything, look at Hagrid's coaster. The fact it's a Harry Potter roller coaster sells itself but they jumped through so many hoops trying to justify the 'biggest free-fall' or ' first story based coaster' so they could stick some recor

  16. If it's anything like the other SF parks throughout the chain, yeah, they're honoring them. In fact, they're probably still selling them and issuing them to people that buy the plan.

  19. They have so many empty areas already. I expect this to be a straight budget cut. Will they replace it some day? Maybe... but I don't think they closed it for any other reason than it's an expensive ride to operate.

  20. So a few years ago they had 3 water rides and they removed all but the worst one? ... cool

  21. They normally park trains there. Don't read anything into it. As Bill said, Ka will never launch a train with passengers while Zu's cars are anywhere other than the station.

  23. I'm a little bummed I won't be able to visit the park (for the first time) this summer as planned. I told myself I would make the drive up there from Utah as soon as they add an RMC, and of course the year they add it I got a great job offer out in Florida that I took. Obviously my enthusiast-self has zero complaints about moving near all the Florida parks, but dang. I did wanna give Silverwood a shot before leaving the West. Maybe someday. I am mostly drawn to Aftershock since I really enjoyed Deja Vu at SFMM and rode it again as Goliath at SFNE where it is utter garbage now. Of course Stunt

  25. That might work, I will check them out. We are driving into Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge the next morning and while we have done most of the mountain coasters there, we did have Anakeesta and one of the Rowdy Bear ones in PF that was still being built last time we were there to add as well. We couldn't do Anakeesta because it was closed to high wind. Then I found out when rescheduling the zipline that the coaster up there was hit by lightening and is currently closed pending a part coming from Wiegand..........! Will do our best but it's always a crapshoot trying to hit that milestone with a partic

  26. I don't mind the bluegrass music and I agree that it totally fits the theming of SDC and DW, not as much at CF parks. BUT when they started playing bluegrass versions of Bon Jovi and in particular Africa by Toto at KI...........ummm. No. Maybe I am just too much of a city girl. Or an 80's girl. Or both.

  27. Actually, before she brought the pizza out, she asked me if I wanted it cut, or to "cut it myself?" I decided to cut it myself, expecting a "pizza cutter wheel" ..... and I got the scissors. And it worked great!

  28. Well, welcome to the coaster desert!! Really glad to help! Silverwood (family owned, smaller/less-frequent major investments, no rides over 200 ft tall,) is no Carowinds (Cedar Fair, Fury, lots of investment, need I say more?) by most standards, but I think it's the best the PNW has as far as the whole package goes (Good wooden coasters, unique/rare steel coasters, descent water park, good entertainment, and great landscaping/atmosphere). Wild Waves is a Six Flags wannabe (except the budget is like a 10th of Six Flags'), and Enchanted Forest is too small to get much. Oaks Park has been m

  29. Wow, thanks. Fantastic write-up and great info. I'll hang on to this. Moved out here a few years ago and really miss having so many coasters and parks within a day's driving distance (Carowinds was my home park). It's slim pickings out here...

  30. Speaking of this, as I mentioned in the SDC thread a construction fence was put up around the Waterboggan Tower area thru where the final turn of the railway is. It's a pretty small & wooded piece of land. I remember it being rumored for years SDC was supposed to get their version of Mystery Mine so who knows maybe it's finally happening. EDIT: That and we know SDC has been obsessed with making record breaking "world's first" attractions as of late.

  31. The same discussions have been going more than a decade, since SixFlagsStL.net (or whatever that url was) ... in a nutshell, Six Flags will fix the Infrastructure then we will finally get a new massive coaster. We need more attendance before anything worthwhile comes our way... yada yada. Yes we are a hopeful bunch.

  32. After six flags we drove to Cedar Point. Arrived there late at night.. but they had no power. so i think we got some flashlights and made it to our rooms. As i could see Dragster from the room window i tried to make some pictures while the entire park/area was dark. not my best pictures, but still. The next morning we all woke up early (after a short night) to get in line for the new hotness that was called Maverick.. i'll let the pictures tell the rest of the story 10 second exposure attempt this was a little better at 30 seconds..

  34. Whenever I watch a video on YouTube and they use a bluegrass-type background music (usually on the TRY Channel when they try American stuff), it immediately makes me long to be at Dollywood. Bluegrass is one of the great unique things about Herschend's two main parks. You hear it all around you as you walk around under the trees and along the babbling brooks. Those parks wouldn't feel right with modern music. For example, at SDC, they do the whole "Moonlight Madness" thing... When they do, they switch over the modern music, and the level of jarring that is to hear is BEYOND. I was in line

  35. Everyday I check this forum, and I see numerous people of different walks of life all coming together to share and talk about this park. A park that is “bottom” of the chain. Yet, we have one of the most populated forums on this site. If anything, our continuous nitpicking and wishing of what could be, just shows how dedicated we are as a fan base. Always thinking and wondering, ever curious. I hope we can all take a step back and acknowledge that even though the park may not be perfect, it brings us a sense of community and family that not much else can. I am always motiva

  36. wait. .didn't Motley *swear* they would never tour again? even making that big deal about signing a contract saying they would never tour again? I guess Vince needs the money? it would be great if Mick Mars is able to play (hell, I'd go see him play even if he had to just be placed on a throne/stool, and played the whole night sitting down)

  38. I remember reading somewhere that the reason Kingda Ka is so much rougher than Top Thrill Dragster is because the center of gravity of the train is much higher due to the OTSRs and hydraulic cylinders being located behind the seat back rather than on the floor. Soft straps would eliminate the neck banging but the train would still probably shuffle like crazy at the high speeds. Although I'm skeptical if Six Flags would even spend the money on that.

  39. One more thing worth mentioning, if you are trying to hit the park without reserving far in advance, good reservation times are opening up as it gets closer to the date if you check every hour or so. I was just able to reserve an 11:30 slot for tomorrow about 2 minutes ago. Tomorrow's slots have been full for over a day now and this 11:30 slot had been gone for over a week.

  44. At the risk of veering off topic, people are just incredibly selective in what causes of death they choose to care about. People only care if it's high-profile, tragic accident, something new and scary, etc... The last year should have proven that. We told the most obese country in the world to stay home for months and not go to the gym because it was extremely dangerous but deemed fast food Drive Thrus essential all in the name of public health. What is the leading cause of death in America over the last 12 months? Heart disease... by a mile. Just like it always is. What are we doing abo
