  1. ^^Hmm--I think your assumption is correct. @Mike240SX I'm certainly not expecting "full operations" before Memorial Day Weekend, which isn't unusual (for example, they usually don' t start operating the water rides before then). But the park hasn't announced anything officially yet, so who really knows? They also have to bring staffing up to speed. That being said, who's up for the . . . Food & Wine Festival Report The park was bustling last Sunday, even with reduced attendance in effect, but this wasn't the busiest I've seen it this year. That was a few weeks ago when all the spring break madness was going on during the first weekend of the Food and Wine Festival. They were really slammed then--especially with two food booths, Brazil and Mexico, closed (on a Saturday). It was smoother sailing last Sunday, despite the large crowd, thanks to all the booths being open. But the food lines got pretty long as the afternoon wore on. Festival operations were a mixed bag. I visited four booths: South Korea, Brazil, Virginia, and Mexico. The first three acquitted themselves pretty well; for example, Brazil had a fairly long line, but it moved quickly. Mexico, however . . . ugh! More on that later. On the upside, the food was very good at each booth, and there was no waiting at the Brauhaus (Grogan's in Ireland had a longer line). Waits for rides were a mixed bag. I waited about 15 minutes for Apollo's Chariot and Griffon. The wait for Verbolten was posted at over an hour. Based on three-train ops and a full queue, I'd say that's about right (at least they were using all the rows). InvadR looked pretty slammed, so I didn't bother, and Finnigan's Flyer was posted at 45 minutes. They had a few more flats open in Festa Italia. They also put up a temporary wall just before the Roman Rapids and the pizza-and-pasta buffet, which hasn't been open all year. (Word is that they want to renovate that restaurant.) The only full-size restaurant open is the Festhaus (and that's with socially distanced seating). So, get ready for plenty of food pictures, although not quite as many you'll see in a typical Adam TR. They've been doing some work around Pantheon, too, which I'm taking as a good sign. Hmm--a few more people than usual milling around England today. Almighty Zeus, Father of the Gods! We humble mortals of Busch Gardens beseech you! Send us a sign! Zeus be praised! I think those metal railings on the ramp and stairs were added recently, too. The lightning-hurling Zeus has blessed us with two signs! But are we worthy? (I think this is the main queue entrance as seen from the train.) Well, being as I'm already in Festa Italia and just got off Apollo’s Chariot, I may as well hit the South Korea booth. There was no wait, so Zeus be praised, again! The pork rib was pretty good. I even like the Korean coleslaw. What’s this? The Brazil booth at a “Dutch angle”? Is it the lair of a 1960s Batman villain? I ordered one Churasco (skirt steak with chimichurri sauce), but they gave me two. Not a complaint, just a yummy observation. The wait for Griffon was a between 15 and 20 minutes. Acceptable. The wait for a shrimp taco, however . . . At least it’s “crisply.” “Crisply-ness” confirmed. It was quite good, but I doubt I’d wait in this line again--especially if there’s another fussy kid in the group behind me. The kid was harnessed in what appeared to be a tricycle combination baby stroller (never seen a rig like that one before); that is, the kid could ride it like a trike, or an adult could push it like a stroller. It was some Radio Flyer hybrid toy. Spring . . . achoo! achoo! . . . time in Virginia. Shore is purty. No wait in the Brauhaus! Star Hill “The Love" wheat been for the win! Hmm--the Virginia booth in Scotland isn’t too busy. May as well score some of these tasty, artery-clogging bacon-and-cheddar hush puppies with honey butter. If you have $49.99 burning a hole in your pocket, you may as well buy one of these new models. With any luck, we’ll see all three of these coasters operating this summer. Get your vaccine, and thanks for reading.

  2. LOL in the shot of people with "no masks," literally no one did not have a mask, and only one wasn't wearing it halfway-properly. That guy might have just taken a sip from the souvenir cup that he's carrying. Sorry, but a sample size of 3 does not indicate anything. Also, for your own furthering intelligence, I'd recommend staying off of TikTok.

  3. Skywarps are absolute trash. An empty plot of land is better than a Skywarp.

  4. Take the Skywarp challenge. Try to watch a video of a painfully slow full cycle without moving on to the next video.

  5. A short film from yesterday evening when they continuously cycled Monster with the lights on. Monster with lights on

  6. And I bet they'll even let you charge your phones for the low-low-price of $10 an hour too when your battery dies.

  8. My issue is... if it's more than a 15 minute wait... I can't handle it...

  9. Unfortunately Eagle's best airtime hill was removed years ago. A couple of those drops of the turns in the second half of the ride have ejector air in the back though. And that's fun.

  10. Watch the media day footage of Tidal Twister, which is arguably the most boring looking one. The park reps and journalists trying to build the ride up as exciting is entertaining. Most of the ride is just trying to get up to speed to clear the 30 foot hill.... Screamin Eagle is like The Beast, for me. It's just a cool ride. The air seems mild at most, but we love it.

  12. BREAKING NEWS!! Busch Gardens and Six Flags Great Adventure better be taking notes cause... Silverwood has announced that they will reveal Stunt Pilot's opening date TOMORROW!!! They will also debut Stunt Pilot's commercial tomorrow along with the opening date, as part of their new "all-access" YouTube series "The Silverwood Show". (AND I finally figured out how to embed Twitter!!) The first episode came out 2 weeks ago, and I thought it was pretty good. Part of it featured an interview with Fred Gubb and Jake Kilcup from RMC about Stunt Pilot as well as a mini-tour around the RMC factory. Later, they broke out just the RMC segment into it's own video so I'll include that here if anyone hasn't seen it (because obviously that the only part that us coaster nerds actually care about): The full episode is on the park's Youtube page. My guess is as good as any, but my bet is on Memorial Day weekend. That to me makes the most sense based on where they are in construction and my expectations for the initially promised "Summer 2021". Fingers crossed its not later in the Summer or Fourth of July... Either way, only 10 DAYS TILL THE 2021 SEASON STARTS!!!!

  13. I only got one ride Friday night and it was a middle row, so maybe that is why. The woods and dark was awesome and its pacing is always great, I just did not get the air I got last fall I'll be back at least once this year and I am excited to give it another go! I really want to love it, I know before this weekend trip it was my favorite wooden in the park.

  16. Some say the ride experience is worse. Slow and forceless. Yet somehow rough and painful. And the reason why a plot of empty land is better: They're loud as hell!!! And not the charming B&M roar kind of loud.

  19. ^^ I wondered when you were going to bring Cedar Downs up. And I totally agree about that freekin' Swing, too. Short cycle, but omgomgomgomg! Here it is! And it's called Skyhawk. (Photo from the net)

  20. If I ran a theme park I would not open a major new ride right now. Either you cap capacity and reduce potential returns or you have a huge crowd and when pictures of that crowd go viral you have a huge PR problem. It sucks, but I get it.

  21. Cedar Downs is (by far) my favorite flat at Cedar Point. it's SO much better than it looks when observed from the sidelines. (the Screaming Swing at CP is really good too - tho runs a short cycle. Can't think of the name of that off top of my head.)

  23. New rumors suggest Flash Pass is moving to cellphones very soon. That's one way to fix the 1.5 hour lines to get the device and no risk of losing the device, etc. Good move. Will be interesting to see how parks that are hard on bags and lockers try to accomplish this.

  24. Next stop was Holiday World. Home to Voyage (and other fun coasters at that time) Got the opportunity to do a walk to the back (turn around) of this coaster and get some pictures from that area. Fun times

  25. I'm sorry but I just had to give an exasperated laugh. Why would they not use clear dividers, good grief can you even imagine the immediate and constant frustration of being a ride op in that situation

  26. In fairness to the park, I have not been anywhere recently that is actually still enforcing social distancing in common areas. It’s treated as a suggestion at this point. As others have mentioned, the CDC has found that the risk of exposures from surfaces is extremely low. I should also add that you should not being going to a theme park if you are worried about social distancing. If you are willingly going to a place you know there will be thousands of strangers, you are assuming the risks with that.

  28. Too bad Volcano isn't still around. It was ahead of its time not only technologically, but it already had limited capacity down to a science.

  29. It's really sad that this is probably the number 1 or 2 waterpark in all of Cedar Fair!!!! Can we just move it out of Cleveland?
