  1. Pro tip: Please make sure that you and the others are not reading my upcoming Phantasialand trip report. I really don't want to cause any exhaustment on anyones side because of photos I took. I for myself liked @Mike240SXs complete post as I am not able to go to CP in the forseeable time and I didn't mind to see some photos that are similar to each other.

  2. I didn't realize how similar some of the Windseeker and Ferris Wheel pictures were; I'll edit them down. Sorry that you had to scroll through 5 "duplicates" at most. When you're putting up a ton of pics you don't really pay attention. If you notice in the Valravn pictures, they're actually all kinda different, following the train through the course. @prozach626Thanks for the backup brother.

  3. I'm glad I didn't put up any of my pictures of my trip to CP! I'd hate to offend anybody's delicate sensibilities of how they should look!

  4. Yeah, if it's a safety thing, you'd think that identical trains would have an identical height requirement. Cedar Fair just puts theirs way higher than other parks and I don't know why. So as long as they do that, their parks are just not going to be as great for families with younger children.

  5. The other frustrating thing for my youngest (who is 7), is that he's least fearful of all my kids about rides! He's actually the one who caused my older two sons to ride Zumanjaro earlier this year, as they were too scared to ride, but after my youngest was going to with me and my daughter, they felt they had to not to look shown up! lol He wanted to ride Kingda Ka, and rode Millennium Force, and wants to ride everything he can, but is held back by random height policies. For instance, he can ride Goliath at SF, but not Steel Vengeance at CP. I get that SV is a lot bigger and more intense than Goliath, but when almost every other RMC (including Twisted Timbers) is 48", it's strange to think 4" will make a difference on SV.

  6. I shall call this still life: "people shitting on plastic toilets on the beach" It can be the title of the debut album by Murderous Steel.

  7. Of course we know why these restrictions are in place. But as @SharkTums said once: Try to explain a three year old why he is not allowed to ride a ride at Heide Park or Tripsdrill when he is allowed the very same ride at his home park and he knews for sure it's the same ride. It's perfectly okay why these things are as they are. Every park is allowed to have its ground rules. But sometimes it's not logical. And if Sue-Happy-Merica is less strict than my average german park, it's even getting a bit funny.

  8. Nitro and all of the other coasters were running yesterday according to the app/queue-times.com. Jersey Devil and El Toro are still down; JDC has yet to reopen from the RMC-ordered shutdown, and we all know what's going on with El Toro.

  9. Who's "we?" Maybe next time he won't do a TR at all, since you referred to it as exhausting to get through.

  10. Not always. My kids were able to ride 310ft high, 90mph Millenium Force at 48 inches before they could ride 208ft, 70mph Ride of Steel. Both Intamins at two different chain parks.

  11. Thanks for writing everything up. I'll be back there in a few weeks after taking a several year Florida hiatus. Ops have always been terrible. I worked Gwazi for a short period of time, back when it was... Gwazi... and visited at least once a month after I moved to Orlando, but the management at BGT never cared, and being a ride supervisor at SeaWorld I got to experience the workers that didn't give 2 shits first hand. Some of the management did a really great job (pats self on back ;)) at setting a good example, but I feel as soon as a supervisor left a ride to go to another ride everyone went back to their old ways. There are always exceptions and some people were awesome, but overall there was no customer service / getting trains out fast mentality. Manta was the absolute worst for several years, though. lol. I'm excited to go back! Oh, and that garden grill place used to be a sit down pizza/pasta buffet. I'm guessing it changed once COVID happened since buffets weren't really a thing anymore. It may have changed well before that, but last I knew that was the case. I've only been on it once or twice, but Falcons Fury is an awesome ride. I wish more parks would get something like it. Definitely my favorite (not so) flat ride / non coaster that I can think of. I don't normally care for drop towers but that thing is a whole different level.

  12. Well, to each their own opinions, but they share a great many similarities to me.

  13. After the safari and about 8 rounds of hand washing to get the giraffe slobber off my hand (it was worth it), we went around for some re-rides. Even after the 3rd or 4th Falcon's Fury ride, it's still absolutely terrifying but incredible! Found this little gem in between Falcon's Fury and Kumba. It's stuff like this that makes me stop and wonder why this belongs in this beautiful park. BGT has a lot of games and stupid filler fluff that could be used for much better things like an animal encounter/more plants/food stand. No I didn't see how much it cost, haha. The tiger exhibit is a must stop by, just to see which angle you're going to see the tiger from in the bubble. And holy crap the tiger is nuzzled up right there! I wanna pet but also that paw is the size of my head....nooooooope, I'm happy being here in my bubble! Sunday was still a busy day at BGT but quick queue turned every coaster into a walk on! Kumba is incredible. Heading back over to Cheetah Hunt to catch the cheetah run! A short demonstration, but very cool and informative. It's pretty much up to the cheetah if it wants to play/run. Definitely stop by when they are doing these! She got some yummy chicken in the end. I believe there are 2 times a day they do this. It's 100* and time for a flight! You're My Boy Blue was a yummy blueberry beer! It's awesome BGT has this bar. Not my photo, this is essentially what you can get if you want to sit out in the heat. There is some shade. Mr. Nile Crocodile wanted some beer too. Majestic. Mature. Beauuuuuutiful! And the side eye! She's over it. Pokemon Go just got very real. One of the baby nyala! We got absolutely drenched head to toe on Stanley falls! Lovely flume, but watch out. 2 adults = soaked. For some reason I didn't take many pictures of Sheikra. Sheikra blew me away. Between Sheikra, Valravn, Griffon, Sheikra had the best airtime by fair. The classic over the shoulders, the dive loop had fun floater air, the foliage and plants all around the coaster... this ride is incredible. Walking back over to Montu as it had finally opened with maybe an hour or two left in the park. The Cobra's Curse/Montu area is really cool looking. I do admire how all of their coasters are 'terrain' diving in and out of tunnels, canyons etc. Montu is incredible, it's crazy how fast it is. Wish it was open more on Sunday but I have a lot of 'wishes' when it comes to BGT. We waited a good 20-30 minutes in Quick Queue for our Cheetah Hunt rides and got a night ride to close the night, which was pretty fun! We rode Tigris in the front and it's front or bust for that ride, imo. Those trains are so weird and tight. We all hate the comfort collars they're so pathetic. BGT Final Thoughts, Negatives: The operations were dismal and it wasn't the lack of workers, it was luck of any happiness or enthusiasm. Aside from the bartenders, the 1 guy at Tigris who might have been on his 48th red bull of the day, and safari tour guides, it seemed like there was no responsibility or structure. Do they even have an area rides manager? People waiting in line for Cheetah Hunt, Falcon's Fury, and Montu would ask the ride operators if the ride was broken because the ops would just stand around and loaf around between cycles for so long. Cheetah Hunt's line was 2.5 hours all weekend, Quick Quick was 30 minutes usually. Montu, Cheetah Hunt, Falcon's Fury (I'll give you some slack), Sheikra were all down for significant portions of the day. Cobra's Curse never opened. Food was garbage. Bengal Bistro was closed (now it's turning into Forbidden Jesus Chicken), the summer specials featuring fresh delicious food were closed, the Twisted Tails pretzels aren't what they used to be (confirmed by multiple people) so we were stuck with cafeteria style pizza/burgers/panda express knock off. We ended up sticking with the 'pretty good' pretzels, drinks, and oh we actually got hummus and pita/veggies at the Giraffe bar. Then Mediterranean on our walk to the hotel after park close. No skyride. So you're walking or taking the train. The train was only running 1 train and not all stops were open. So you'd have to wait 30-40 minutes for the next train if you missed it, and you would be cause of all huge line that builds up between cycles. BGT Final Thoughts, Positives: The summer nights firework show was solid, I'm happy they were able to offer that! The safari was well worth it, I'd do it every visit. The coaster collection is stellar. B&M's finest, a really fun, long Intamin launched coaster, oh yeah, Tigris, some classic smaller coasters like Scorpion and the wild mouse WHICH YOU CAN HIT YOUR HEAD ON THE TURN OVER THE LIFT!!! WTF?! Someone else please acknowledge this if you know what I'm talking about! And obviously Gwazi will make BGT even more alluring. If you like booze, the selection of beer and mixed drinks will keep you entertained for a whole weekend. The animal exhibits - lions/birds/hyena/savannah, were all awesome. Only the gorilla/monkey exhibit seemed abandoned. We walked through it and there were just a bunch of confused people wondering what we were doing. I just hope Gwazi has a smooth opening and the park focuses on creating a better guest experience. I can't imagine going there without Quick Queue on the weekend waiting in those lines in that head, the awful quality of food for the price, and having to walk 10 miles to do the whole park/revisit rides. I could totally see this place being the best park in America, but it has a lot of work to do. Okay one last jab, haha. Looking for decent food we see on the map "Garden Gate Cafe". Look at this place, it's stunning. Probably a great place to get a salad or sandwich and chill out, right? Wrong. They had 2 food choices. 1) foot long chili dog. 2) food long BBQ hot dog. You've gotta be kidding me. BGT is still trying to open their new sit down restaurant, but this place looks like the prime candidate for another sit down offering. Maybe they can move Bengal Bistro to here and make it a real bistro? A sit down full service restaurant with a massive patio and indoor section would be a cash cow. See ya in 2022 Gwazi!

  14. Those new Mind Bender trains LOOK GREAT - that nice shiny purple. But reclined headrests (with a hard plastic back attached to the back plate, hello pain), bucke-y seats, and a seat divider have NO place running on a Schwarzkopf. It was an improvement for Revolution because it was better than the custom mess that ride was running since '92. I know ... Premier, etc., old rides, parts/availabitly.. blah blah most of it's crap. Take a good long look at Montezooma's Revenge, Fire Dragon, and a few others... those trains were designed that way for a reason. You get the thrill of 70s loop coaster with the freedom (and laterals - where applicable) of a classic wood coaster. If you're a big Schwarzkopf fan like me and you appreciate those old trains (and the remakes of them on the others not at Six Flags) ride Shock Wave while you can. One of my favorite parts on Schwarzkopf loopers was always those curves cuz you get to move around while still being safe with the built-in seat divider those individual lap bars provide. It's a genius design. Sliding back and forth (and perhaps squishing your partner) is much more fun and comfortable than being awkwardly bent sideways over a seat divider. Seat dividers have made many of our kind hate laterals (Legend).

  16. Photo (-TR), August 19th through the 21st So, I was at Cedar Point the above dates. Nobody really needs to hear my wait times, and there really wasn't anything notable about the trip (aside from what I'm about to mention), but here's a bunch of photos! I honestly can't remember what the entry way looked like before this.... A rare sight indeed! Millennium Force's station without a grouper! Poor Dragster. Next up will be a whole bunch of pictures of the "Cedar Point Nights" event that was held on the beach, and was generally free for anyone (really only had to pay for food, drinks, or games). Some night shots of Windseeker. Why does it seem like this one has a much better light program than the others? Amusingly, this one does not keep the base structure (the blue part) for the emergency escape platforms at the bottom of the tower, as I've always seen on KI's and KD's. I've seen the yellow "arms" near Gatekeeper, but never the blue base part. Some night shots of the Ferris Wheel. When did they upgrade the lights on this to a programmable LED system? Now, some night shots of Wicked Twister. RIP. And now some night shots from the Skyride. How have I never noticed the wing lights or red eyes on Gatekeeper before? The irony of them issuing a FL+ wristband with Dragster on it, when its days at the park may be numbered... Some more shots of Wicked Twister, taken before my final ride. And so long, Cedar Point...until Halloweekends! BONUS! A night video of a complete Wicked Twister cycle! VID_20210820_211542565.mp4

  17. With Amazon Prime you are paying a flat fee for a year of service. I have no idea if they pro-rate if you cancel. With Six Flags, after twelve months you are essentially on a monthly contract that you can (and at least two of us in this thread have done) easily cancel. I can easily afford $220 a year. But if somebody wants to sell it to me for $90, I'm taking that. I don't understand the disdain for monthly payments. But I don't have to, it's your money.

  18. it's totally due to who's in charge (park president) and the results they get. Jeffery Siebert is an amazing guy, and he does a great job at SFFT interacting with the guests as well as running the park. Ron moved up to SFOT Park President from SFFT leadership chain, so that's why SFOT has been doing amazing things the past 16 months as well)

  19. Visited Holiday Park in Germany today, because its near me, for "Expedition GeForce" mainly. Man, i have ridden quiet a bit of coasters arround europe and i can say, this thing still tops all of them for me by miles. That first inversion drop with the speed into the most intense and longest air-time hill i have ever experienced and seen is enough to make you litterly launch out of your seats. As if this was not enough already, it also uses lap-bar restraints. The rest of the ride is fast paced and features standard elements and intense air-time hills too, but not so long ones as the first one. Pro tip: If you plan on riding this, definitly go for the front seat only! For some reason, i get the most of the intense air-time this way, not as much from the back seat, and on top of that you get the typical "speed wind and front view" effect.

  20. Let’s have some fun and see how much it costs to buy a day ticket and a skip the line pass at a variety of parks on a random day. Let’s say... tomorrow. Of course, Disney isn’t offering this tomorrow so we’ll just tack $15 onto whatever the price is. Also, we’ll go with the lowest level of skip-the-line pass at every other park since Disney’s pass doesn’t include every ride, sort of like regular Cedar Fair Fastlane. Also, we’re assuming a one day one park ticket at all parks. Sound fair? Alright, let’s go... Disney (after taxes and fees) and plus the $15 is $155.58. Compared to: Millennium Force, Steel Vengeance and Maverick not included. Dragster wouldn’t be included if it was open. It’s an upcharge too. This skip-the-line pass also isn’t good. You’ll probably wait 45 minutes with Fastlane for Millennium Force. Orion, Flight of Fear, Beast and Antique Autos not included. Busch Williamsburg, and this is just the one time per ride Quick Queue Universal is more than double the price. This is also just an awful ticket. It’s “unlimited express” but this is only good for admission to Islands of Adventure. Express doesn’t include Velocicoaster or Hagrid’s and you can’t ride the Hogwarts Express at all because it’s not a park hopper. If you wanted the express pass that wasn’t unlimited and still didn’t include those rides then here... this is way, way worse than what you get at Disney and it’s STILL MORE EXPENSIVE. TWICE AS EXPENSIVE. Who’s ready to get Hersheypark Happy? Keep in mind, this skip the line pass is terrible. It’s single issue per ride and it only includes the coasters, a dark ride, a flat ride and 2 water slides. You can’t mix-and-match either. You can’t go and ride Skyrush twice and use your Boomerang pass. Nope. Enjoy your Boomerang. ... are we done here? They’re within $20 of basically every park, even crap like Valleyfair, Dorney and the American Dream Mall.

  21. New motor installed on Skyrush last night. Park is hoping to have it open in the next week or two.

  22. Wildcat needs to go or have RMC come in and fix it or maybe the titan track can address it. It was not a good ride at all during my trip earlier this year. I found Lightning Racer to be the much better GCI, but it isn't anywhere near an elite GCI, so I could see Hershey move away from it for a water park expansion.

  23. I hope not! Lightning Racer is one of the best rides there. Take Wildcat, no one will miss it.

  24. Not going into detail here (tho those that are fb friends with me have seen me post on my wall). But yeah. Spouse is in hospital since “emergency call” on Friday to go there NOW we don’t know when he’s going to be released and of course I head to Atlanta for dragoncon wed morning and it’s gonna suck if I have to go while he’s in the hospital. )least of which problem is their he was going to take me to airport on wed ) the whole situation is scary and confusing and stressful so this far this weekend has sucked )but at least been able to stay with him despite Covid restrictions)
