It seems like 90% of records being claimed by every chain and every manufacturer now are total bullshit. I don’t know why people are constantly surprised by this. The ride looks fun, the park is a great and this is a huge investment for them. I don’t know why anyone cares that the record is kind of bullshit. Remember when Valravn broke 10 world records? Or when Hangtime broke Dive Coaster records? Remember the “combined speed” record for that stupid thing at Discovery Kingdom. Embrace the fact that it’s all bullshit and just focus on the fact that the ride looks fun. Whatever they have to do to market it and bring in money so they can build more cool rides is fine with me. There’s no rules committee on coaster records and there never was. The record could be that this ride has the world’s tallest and fastest double-platypus dive for all we know.5 points

Unpopular opinion: I know everyone criticizes Intamin but RMC is just as screwed up and seems to get a pass just because we all love their rides and it seems like at some point we have to acknowledge what a clusterfuck they are. Like Intamin, plenty of their rides are reasonably reliable-ish but they have some total messes too. Lightning Rod has never worked, Steel Vengeance crashed on its opening day, threw a drive tire and needs so much structural work that it can’t even open for early entry on weekdays, Stunt Pilot and Jersey Devil are getting shut down constantly by the manufacturer and now this ride totally chucked a wheel towards a guest area and people (not so much here but everywhere) are acting like “yeah... that’s normal” . Nah, that shouldn’t just happen. Wasn’t Steel Dragon 2000 closed for like a year because it did that?4 points

Can we give this man a cookie? Yes, this has been in the planning since I left the company five years ago. Originally planned for the cliff but it's just about impossible to shoehorn something off it like this. For anyone that can't really pick out where it is going to go pretty much right below the main building below the 4D Theater. The record claim is well, a much click baity sadly though it is an excellent addition regardless. Listen to people like coasterbill and get out here. Early June is a great time or if you want to hold off till after Labor Day the park is pretty quite. You might not want to come right now though unless you like a 6-7 hour drive. (Hopefully that mess will be cleaned up by Winter.)4 points

Yeah it's unfortunate, but maybe you can ride it again when it gets moved to Michigan's Adventure2 points

^2.1 has been a rougher seat for as long as I can remember. The good news is a large stretch of track from the 90 degree bank into the valley and back up the hillside is being replaced this fall along with some touch ups in other areas. Hopefully someday the PTCs are replaced. Regarding the authorities, a dog has been left in a car TWICE by the same owner in the past week. The Gift House is low on merchandise due in part to very high in-park spending at rates never seen before coupled with combating supply chain issues that have plagued multiple industries this year.1 point

That theater has been gone for like 3-4 years now, you know, right?1 point

PLOT TWIST: they’re just reversing the trains and painting it purple But in all seriousness, I’m a little sad because it was the first ride I ever operated when I worked there, but I truly do not care for the ride at all.1 point

Was at the park earlier today for a quick visit and it was far busier than I was expecting. While most of the crowd was in the water park, the rides still had slightly longer lines than usual. Ali Baba and Mega Vortex were both down. The one thing that really surprised me was that Ravine Flyer II was incredibly rough. I sat in Seat 2.1 and there was a LOT of rattling and jackhammering. It was probably the worst ride I have had on it since it debuted in 2008. Maybe I’m just spoiled by riding Mystic Timbers so much this past year, but RF2 was one and done for me. Also, The gift shop looked like it was going out of business. I asked if it was closing and the girl said that since the season ends soon, they were just out of merchandise. I don’t recall seeing it look so empty before, even on the final weekend of the year. Another odd thing today as I was on the Sky Ride, an announcement was made over the park’s PA system asking a specific guest to return to their car immediately as “the authorities were waiting”. Since you can see the West 6th Street parking area from the Sky Ride, I noticed There was a police car with its flashers on blocking in someone’s car, so I don’t know what happened. Just seemed unusual. And finally, props to the Dude operating the Music Express. He was really getting riders into the “scream if you want to go faster” bit and even had some funny lines like “what is this, a library? No, it’s the Music Express. Let me hear some noise!l” Not sure why but that made me smile! I also saw Mr. Nelson zipping around in his golf cart, which is always a treat. He always looks like he wants to run someone over, but he’s a legitimately nice guy!1 point

^ being honest? Capaldi is one of the handful of "stunt casting" that just doesn't work and adds nothing to the film other than in your head going "hey, that's (insert stunt cast actor). the main cast are all very good tho, and makes this among the best of the DCU films. and I can state as a fact, this is the best acting John Cena has done in a film. . he's excellent in this, and I can see why he gets a prequel spin off TV show on HBO Max.1 point

^ Thanks, I'm only a 90 min flight from Osaka or an 2 hour flight from Tokyo so hopefully when corona is done I can get back to Japan. I think the pictured one in my post is probably not for sale anymore, since it seems although the flavor is an exclusive TDS staple, they do constantly update and change it. In the game, they're ice lollies, which was inspired by the creator's TDS trip, and that seems to have come from a really long time ago since I've never seen an official picture, only fan recreations.1 point

so. . ."Suicide Squad" (spoiler free) IT. IS. AMAZING. incredibly violent, lots and lots of cussing - and earns it's hard R rating. starts off a bit "iffy" but by the time the opening credits roll around, I was all in. King Shark is astounding, as is Ratcatcher. And of course Robie as Harley - perfection. Really? all the characters are on point. if I had ONE complaint (and it's a minor one) it's that the use of Music really comes across as "Gunn trying to do "Guardians" here" but still. . . no real spoiler to say it has a fairly high death count. . . and I guess because I read so many comics? I was pretty damn accurate on whom I thought would survive (tho there is still a surprise or two). Highly recommended.1 point

Not to stray too far off topic, but this is 1000% true. Everyone gives RMC (and even Mack, Premier Rides, etc.) a pass but always craps on Intamin for being unreliable. Meanwhile Velocicoaster has been running absolutely flawlessly and had one of the smoothest and most reliable openings ever for such a hyped coaster. And that coaster has cycled a TON already and recently hit a million riders after just a couple months of operation. I would argue that most modern Intamin coasters built in the last 10-ish years are equally as reliable as any other new coaster, expect for maybe B&M rides. Hopefully the issues with these new generation single rails gets worked out. I guess it's a good thing RMC is just down the road from Silverwood.1 point

Yep. Six Flags Mexico sits around 8,000 feet. Glenwood Caverns is at about 7,100 feet. Literally all they had to say was "highest looping coaster in the country" and that sounds very marketable. Not sure what they're trying to go for with that drop record lol. Nonetheless this coaster seems totally awesome. I visit Utah often so hopefully a detour out to Glenwood is in the future someday. Good for them!1 point

Depending on your definition of “not far” it’s worth a trip. The Derby Racer is great and much much better than Cedar Downs. Other than that I mean... you know... the tiki bar is cool. The Olde Mill is neat. They have a Log Flume. That’s all I’ve got.1 point

Oh wow, I didn't remember I had guessed that. But thank you, and I will enjoy the walnut chocolate chip cookie!1 point

In theory, yes it takes that irrelevant record from the previous irrelevant record holder at the same park.1 point

Me to the Cedar Point fanboys who say that I'm dumb for thinking Cedar Point isn't getting a coaster since they haven't been teasing or starting construction: "Well well well...." I know people are making fun of the record, but really doesn't this take the record for the world's highest elevation coaster? Previously it was Cliffhanger at the same park. Or am I just making this up?1 point

We had a heck of a day out in Glenwood Springs. Super busy but man, was it awesome. We drove out from Denver first thing in morning and parked at the visitors center for the Hanging Lake trail. Took a shuttle up to the hike (parking lot isn't big enough, so all hiking is done via shuttle). Did the hike in 3 hours. Came down and grabbed lunch. Went to an incredible Brewery (Casey) who is known for their Sours. From there, spent 4 hours at Glenwood Caverns (did both Caves and all of the attractions a few times). Finished up the day with the after 9:00 pass for the Hot Springs nearby. Hit all the highlights in a day. Easily could be spread out over two. Beautiful beautiful area and the park is a complete blast. Good for them, a big add.1 point

To the "I'm not going out of the way for this place" crowd, let me do my good deed for the day and tell you all to go out of your way for this place. It's incredible, the caverns are cool, the views are ridiculous, the drive there is beautiful, they have their own beer that you can drink on a deck looking down a 1000 foot mountain, the swing and mine drop are crazy, everything about it is great. Plus Denver is great and it's Frontier's home base so you can probably fly there for like $40 from anywhere in the country if price is what's holding you back. Every time I see a trip report where someone goes to Lakeside and Elitch Gardens ("BUT it's closing soon!!!!!" ... good, it should hurry up and do that) and doesn't go here because "it's out of the way" a little part of me dies. I don't care if you're in Denver for 12 hours, you should still rent a car and go to Glenwood Caverns and not Elitch Gardens or Lakeside.1 point

This place is f*cking incredible. I'm so happy they're getting this. I love them.1 point

A chain and a combination lock should work well if you can get it through security, but if not a nice wide base and sound defensive technique should be sufficient.....1 point

Today I pulled the pin on our USA road trip since the next US travel review isn't until the 21 August. Just want to shout out to Cedar Point customer service. They refunded our breakers money in full plus didn't quibble about refunding the fast lane passes either. Compared to Hershey that offered a voucher for next year and Kings Dominion and BGW who didn't even reply. Great customer service CP. Thank you for accommodating our situation.1 point

Cedar Point has announced that Wicked Twister will be closing permanently on September 6th, 2021 (Labor Day). https://www.cedarpoint.com/blog/one-last-launch “With ‘twists’ on both towers – instead of just one – Wicked Twister will be the first and only coaster of its kind anywhere in the world.” On November 20, 2001, Cedar Point announced to the world that it would build the planet's tallest and fastest double-twisting impulse roller coaster. For just about 20 years, it kept that title. At the time, there was a boom in the introduction of these types of coasters, but most with only one twisting spike at one end, and a straight, 90-degree vertical track section at the other (many with a brake that held the train for a quick second for an added thrill). Wicked Twister would dramatically change the famous CP skyline with its twin, 215-foot-tall bright yellow spiraling vertical spikes – a structure that’s as daunting as it is a work of art. Today, the coaster’s history has been written. It will close for good on Monday, September 6, 2021 as we prepare for future park improvements. Since it opened on May 5, 2002, Wicked Twister has given more than 16 million rides. For the next 31 days, we hope you have a chance to be a part of that ridership history and take one last launch on the world’s first record-breaking, double-impulse, five-time-LIM motor-launching, screeching teal and sunburst yellow steel behemoth. There are more fun details to share about Wicked Twister’s last day – we’ll reveal those later. In the meantime, just for fun, take a read of the original press release below.0 points
