  2. Visited the park on Friday evening for the first time in four years. Deno's new coaster Phoenix was great. Wonder Wheel was fun, but I feel like we used to cycle two consecutive times without any loading/unloading before... not one. Hard to swallow $10/person. Spook-A-Rama is always a hoot. The star of the evening was the Cyclone. Got a front row ride at night. Out of nowhere, this ride shot way up my top woodie list. Such an incredible and unique ride. Air time was *solid* and the laterals into each turn is still super aggressive in the best way. I can honestly say I was so impressed and I know I didn't feel that way after my first ride back in 2010. Thrilled to see it running the way it was intended to run (no brakes, etc.)

  3. Pretty sure Kings Island would RMC Mystic Timbers before even considering RMC-ing the Beast

  4. Day 3: Seabreeze I thought about knocking out SFDL and Seabreeze in the same day. A brief brewery stop in Rochester led to three brewery stops so I decided to spend the night and do Seabreeze the next morning. It was a cool overcast morning and I arrived at the gate as the park was opening. I walked straight to Jack Rabbit, which wasn't running just yet. I decided to wait for it as I really hadn't done any research on this park and wasn't sure what else I was going to ride. I just knew I had to ride this one. The queue pretty much the whole time I was there: Them's the brakes: Since the ride operator was on the opposite side of the track, I took a quick selfie: I loved this coaster! Nice little pops of airtime in the front seat on the hill to the turnaround and the last hill before the helix. The tunnel at the end was great. This coaster is amazingly well maintained. I got 12 or 13 rides all over the train in between rides on Bobsleds and WhirlWind and I think the front was my favorite. Bobsleds was a really cool, funky ride. I have really enjoyed all the park-built rides I've been on the last four years. This was no exception. I rode WhirlWind 3x because it was fun and I hadn't been on that exact model of Maurer Spinning Coaster. There were nice views of the lake from there. Eventually the overcast day turned into a drizzly day. I don't like getting caught in the rain so I headed to the nearest brewery, K2 Brothers for a Piña Colada Milkshake IPA (I know, I know). It was tasty. All in all, Seabreeze was quite the gem of a small park and well worth a stop for Jack Rabbit alone. I drove to Utica before deciding to stop for the night, with visions of riding Alpine Bobsled the next day dancing in my head. That's as close as I got.

  6. There was a grander plan back post wild thing before Cedarfair grew so large for VF to get a hotel on site and to expand further into the flood plane but that was lost in the company’s growth. The park has seen growth in attendance from valleyscare but attendance has been disappointing otherwise and when you ask most people who aren’t season pass holders why they haven’t gone to VF in a while they say what’s new there? One major investment won’t permanently solve the attendance problem it will only be temporary but it keeps the park relevant and that counts for something otherwise it’s just stagnant. You make major changes/investments every four or five years and it keeps the park current.

  7. Wouldn't the opposite be true? The bigger the crowd, the better case you can make, for investing in a major ride; Small crowd is risky, asking the question- will bigger crowds come with a new major ride? Bigger crowds on the other hand can make a board say "I should keep going with what's drawing them in", that is true. But it also says, I have a crowd to safely support the new rides investment too, as evidenced by lines of people on the existing rides.

  8. Nah I'm sure they heard the 5 enthusiasts complain about them so they spent millions researching a new train that should satisfy enthusiasts.

  9. I just watched the Behind the Attraction episode about the Tower of Terror rides, and I'm even more intrigued with Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout. Pretty impressive what they could pull off in 11 months.

  10. Morey's Piers July 24-30 This year, my family rented a big Air B N B house in Wildwood, New Jersey. While I visited the shore earlier doing a day trip, it was fun spending the week down the shore. I finally was able to get on Great White (a favorite of mine), relax, have a few drinks, & spend time with the family. We even went dolphin watching & I actually got some cool pics of dolphins in the wild. Not sure when or where my next trip will be in 2021 as work is killing me, but it'll be posted here. Thanks again for following & enjoy the pics! I haven't been on the Great White since July 14, 2019! Without a doubt my favorite coaster on a beach! I just thought this pic looked cool on my way to the beach. The good old Jersey shore! Not sure what it is about the Runaway Tram, but I really enjoy it! Rode this with my daughter lol. A relative took this on Wild Whizzer & I just thought it was a cool pic. Dolphin watching! Just a good pic of the sunset. One of my favorite pics of nature I ever took. Thanks again for reading!

  13. DAY 2: Six Flags Darien Lake and Letchworth State Park June 29, 2021 Darien Lake is a park I've heard nothing but negative things about. So I set my expectations low. And was still disappointed. I understand staffing issues and pent-up demand by park goers to get out. But this park just didn't do it for me. I did not arrive at rope drop as planned because my hike at Letchworth State Park went a little long. The first thing I noticed was a lack of shade. And the blacktop. It was a scorching hot day and the heat from the blacktop made it a little worse. I wandered over to ROS and the queue looked a bit long and mostly in the sun, so I decided to come back later. That lead me to Viper, just to ride the coaster that stripped my first big coaster Carolina Cyclone of its inversions title (not really, I'll try any Arrow looper once). The wait was brief and the ride was okay but a bit jarring as expected. This Ferris wheel makes me sad: The boomerang was looking good, but they are not my cup of tea: I was walking by the boomerang looking for a path to Motocoaster. They had what looked to be a temporary exit set up. I asked the person there how to get to Motocoaster. He explained that I could exit there and re-enter the park right by Motocoaster. Strange. Motocoaster was okay, but I wasn't expecting a thrill ride. From Motocoaster I could see that Tantrum had started testing, so I headed over that way. I hadn't done this particular model of Euro Fighter before, and they are fun rides. When I got there the queue was almost back to the covered area. Brutal wait in the sun. Then I thought to myself, at least they are running two cars, even if they are low capacity. For reasons unknown to me, they were only loading the front seats of each car. After the Tantrum ride I figured I'd grab the ROS credit and boogie. Of course ROS was running one train operations and the dispatch times were awful. At least the queue was now in the station so I didn't have to bake in line. The ride itself was great. I left with the idea of possibly doing Seabreeze the same day. Predator and Mind Eraser never ran while I was there. I had no intentions of riding ME, but I would have given Predator a shot. I drove to Rochester and hit a few breweries (Iron Tug, Three Heads, and Nine Maidens, all were good) and decided to save Seabreeze for the next day. No coaster content below this point! The Letchworth park hike was amazing and highly recommended. I did about 9 miles total, but you can drive to most of the overlooks as the trail never got too far from the road.

  14. been getting some really bad health news (my Spouse, not me). . and we moved my Dad into assisted living (against his will), and spent weekend in Houston trying to sort / clean his house so we can sell it (hoarder crossed with collector, but he hasn't touched anything in over 4 1/2 years since my Mom died. . so yeah, it was / still is pretty bad). so even tho my Brother is doing most all of the Heavy lifting with Dad (he lives in Houston, and moved Dad to a place a few blocks from him) I'm so stressed. . can't stop eating, and prolly put on 10 lbs in the past 2 weeks.
