  1. We've been posting all week on our Instagram and Facebook "stories" from our current So Cal trip but since I know not all of you have accounts on those platforms, I'll re-post that update here as well. This was our first day at Disneyland Resort and "Avengers Campus." Needless to say... we loved it! Read on... 2. A solid park adds another solid coaster, sounds good to me.

  3. it's VERY much like Jeffrey Siebert tho . . he's done some AMAZING things since he's been Park President.

  4. I'm inventing a new drinking game called "take a shot every time somebody wishes that this dived off the quarry wall." I'll take the themeing over the diving off the quarry wall. I'm pretty sure I've watched every analysis video and nearly every single one has talked about the fact that it isn't on the quarry wall. (For reference, Superman was announced to have a ton of themeing, but they underestimated how much it was cost to stabilize the quarry wall and they had to nix the themeing due to the cost of adding extra support for the wall.)

  5. Some grammar would help here, then this post might be taken a bit more seriously... At the end of the day, whether or not a ride is economically feasible to operate will be the deciding factor on if it is closed or not; barring a legal reason.

  6. Yes, as previously stated, Aquaman Powerwave is wating on parts for the new turntable apparatus. The park management apparently came to their senses and realized that a one train operation on this thing would be insane.

  7. Visited the park on Wednesday and while it was 95* I had a great day due to low crowds. I honestly anticipated to ride Orion at opening and maybe Mystic but I was pleasantly surprised to see everything other than FoF at a 20 minute or less wait. Yes Mystic has the music working again. Park music variety is back, it's not just those bluegrass covers all over on a loop. There's actually diversity in the park so idk if they paid up or what but thank goodness. Had the best rides on Orion. I still don't gray out at any point on the ride but I never remember hitting the trim as hard as it did. Which sucks but I really felt some airtime on the wave turn (almost took my ray bans off!!!) And the speed hill was epic. You can look back at my posts not raving about Orion airtime but damn it was hauling. No, it's still not better than Fury, though haha in my opinion. Racer blue is running better than red but they're both running like new. Especially Red. I rode Invertigo for the first time in probably 10 years and it's time for it to go. My head is so skinny how does anyone else fit their head between those padded OTSRs?! Damn that coaster is intense and rough. Windseeker is still playing the Harry Potter theme which is hilarious and confusing. The blue ice cream beer is so fucking good. How good is it? The brewery that makes it can't keep it in stock or on draft so it's pretty much a KI exclusive at this point. Sonder makes all of KI's beer and is close by and it's one of like 2 locations to get it. And on the opposite of good, KI is still experimenting with gourmet popcorn and I think they'll have plenty of chive in stock for a long time

  8. 8-wide was probably too wide (and would require the large track like Valravn/Yukon I assume), and perhaps 6 didn't have the capacity they wanted. I actually like 7-wide, it gives an exact center seat which is extremely rare on a coaster. The only others I can think of are those janky Zamperla Thunderbolt coasters. The reason I find the 7-wide surprising, however, is because it's a new custom train, which costs more money I would guess. Rather than just grabbing an existing train design from Emperor/Valkyria or Valravn/Yukon. Everything about this whole project is very unlike Six Flags and I love it.

  9. We were just there about a week ago. Jet Star II requires two riders per seat. We were to grown adults, and we barely fit in together. Three adults is pretty much going to be impossible. We were pleasantly surprised that for Cannibal, once you get past the main queue entrance (where someone will be screening to make sure you have no loose items and if so, put them in a locker--this process takes forever), the rest of the line moves really fast. Wait time with a full queue from the entrance line to boarding was about 15 minutes. Lines for Spider really crawled (no pun intended). Lines for Colossus/Fire Dragon really flies and rarely has a line. Really, nearly all their rides are generally not found in other parks, so hit as many as you can. Don't miss their two dark rides, and their unique collection of flat rides. Also, if you bring a Coke can, you get $9 each person's admission at the gate (up to 6 people for one can).

  10. Lagoon has many historical rides. By your definition of 25+ years, that would qualify Roller Coaster, Colossus the Fire Dragon, Jet Star II, Puff, and many of the flat rides like Centennial Screamer, Rock-O-Plane, Flying Aces, etc. I would honestly recommend all of these rides if you get the chance, depending on your taste in coasters and your tolerance for spinning, etc. The seats on Jet Star 2 must hold a minimum of 2 people (no single riders), and it may hold 3 if possible, but usually only for 3 smaller kids. Fitting 3 adults is almost impossible. 2 adults and 1 child would also be a very tight squeeze. It all depends on the size of the guests but the seats may hold 2 or 3 people, just not a single rider.

  11. I am pretty bummed that this did not dive off of the actual existing cliff that this park is built within... BUT, this appears to be a fantastic addition to a park that I absolutely loved visiting for the first time this year. It sounds like they are adding a queue experience to Poltergeist which makes it even more awesome: I thoroughly enjoyed the pre-ride experience on Joker and it definitely made the wait better. Hopefully they are bringing the same vibe to Polty.

  12. Wow, this is a really nice addition for SFFT. I also think B&M might really be on to something here with this "budget" (for them) dive coasters that run about 2,500 feet of track and stand about 150 ft tall. Emperor at SWSD is basically the same thing. Obviously that's still a really big buy for a midsized park or a park in the Six Flags chain, but it does open up the possibility. That B&M door had basically been closed to anyone but big spenders for a long time now.

  13. Just like what constitutes a "new" ride for SFSTL, which will probably just be our delayed flat that was supposed to go in for this year. I'm happy for you all down there but our poor park (one of the original 3 ground up parks for Six Flags) just quietly celebrated our 50th anniversary. I mean it was very very quiet. We got new paint, and some fireworks, and a new kid's structure in HH......oh wait that isn't done yet despite there only being about a month left of waterpark operations. Pfffft. Seriously though congratulations to SFFT and those of you lucky enough to have it as your home park!

  14. To be honest, I think skip-the-line passes should be A LOT more expensive than they are now. They should be a premium service, not an alternative line. This way it's a win-win: park gets a significant revenue yet lines are not that affected because there will be fewer people buying them (of course, parks should really limit available units). I hate when parks basically give away those passes. You either make them completely free, like Disney's FP or Europa Park's return time for Voletarium or just don't bother at all.

  15. Glad to hear that they opted for this in the end. It seems like it'd make a big difference.

  16. A great addition and a spot-on location. A quarry-wall drop would have looked cool from an observer's perspective, but these rides look great free-standing as a central attraction as well. Excellent choice for this particular park.

  17. I watched the POV. I couldn't tell if they had masks on or not, but the park was doing a terrible job of making sure people were socially distancing in the queues. We couldn't be happier...

  18. Well, that kind came out of the blue But really excited to finally see B&M having a beyond vertical drop, considering they were among the first to have really steep/vertical drops with their dive machines.

  19. Y'all go ahead and impress the SFMM management with the width and breadth of your vast knowledge. I'm sure they'll be shocked and amazed and get on changing that sign that they've had for about 45 years now right away.

  20. Welcome to the new normal. Summer work nights have consisted of babysitting hundreds of people blocking the streets in our downtown bar district. Our goal is to prevent shootings. 8 guns seized. This past weekend we dodged fireworks shot/thrown at us, while listening to the gunshots a block away trying to add more intimidation. We were called everything in the book, while trying to work a traffic crash with injuries, which required cops from three surrounding agencies to keep the crowd from mobbing in after they tried to catch one of the cars on fire. There are some neighborhoods where it's unsafe for us to go in with less than 5-6 people, bare minimum. Keep in mind, the city in which I work has a population of only about 30k people. This is the worst I've ever seen in the general public, period. It's no wonder it translates into private businesses. The new Illinois anti-police legislation that went into effect July 1st doesn't help. There's your Tuesday pick-me-up.
