To be fair, the park already has two coasters that dive off the quarry wall. And I would personally rather they keep the wall "natural" rather than cover all the remaining bits in coaster in track. It's a very nice looking area/backdrop that has "enough" coasters on it, in my personal opinion. But I get where you're coming from and the name is definitely a bit ironic. Iron Rattler's dive off the wall is better than any drop on a B&M Dive.3 points

someone has already referred to it as a "family" coaster, because 150' is not a big enough drop. . .3 points

I love when things like this happen because all the enthusiasts who say things like "Six Flags doesn't build B&Ms" or "no parks in the US will ever build Intamins again" have to put their foot in their mouths.3 points

Not sure when exactly it returned, but the music is back in the shed.2 points

Maybe BGT can use IG's queue and station for one of the haunted houses. It could count toward ridership numbers and they probably won't even have to take the decorations down for next year.2 points

Dive coasters have been enjoying quite the resurgence during the last few years (for example, at Cedar Point and Liseberg). The ride looks like fun, and I'm curious to see how well the queue is themed.2 points

Today I pulled the pin on our USA road trip since the next US travel review isn't until the 21 August. Just want to shout out to Cedar Point customer service. They refunded our breakers money in full plus didn't quibble about refunding the fast lane passes either. Compared to Hershey that offered a voucher for next year and Kings Dominion and BGW who didn't even reply. Great customer service CP. Thank you for accommodating our situation.2 points

Did they forget they have an actual cliff they could have used?!? I get it, they wanna spread things out lol. When I first heard about the 7 seating configuration i was as confused as I am now but I guess it makes sense. Can't wait to get down and try it out!2 points

Yeah, Aftershock will more than likely be closed. I think the temperature and winds above 150' are what do it in, and north Idaho octobers army necessarily known for being sunny and 70 degrees unfortunately... You never know and the park may try, but I don't think I've even ever seen it listed as being a ride during Scarywood. I'm hoping Stunt Pilot isn't as finaky because an RMC raptor in near pitch darkness sounds incredible! Plus TT Backwards is always a good time!1 point

I would kill for an S&S Air Launch style coaster, but I feel like well end up getting a 4D Freespin since were overdue for one anyway. Fingers crossed though.1 point

While I don't understand either of them. . . I think I enjoy the dude who tries, but never quite succeeds in writing in "Haiku" format, more than I like Carol's attempts.1 point

I watched the POV. I couldn't tell if they had masks on or not, but the park was doing a terrible job of making sure people were socially distancing in the queues. We couldn't be happier...1 point

That's a bit of a bummer but to be expected, I guess. I always feel sorry for parks that are heavily affected by something (like this or Covid) right after opening a major ride. At least they're not done for the season1 point

I, for one, am SO EXCITED FOR THIS! I ACTUALLY REALLY WAS HOPING FOR A SMALL-SCALE DIVE MACHINE!!! I am a huge B&M fanboy. I see a LOT of the coaster YouTubers are whining about this, but I think it is important to remember that the past three coaster additions have been ultra-intense, low-capacity coasters; this will finally be a looper that will cater more to the general public. Plus it is AWESOME to see that Six Flags is officially working with B&M again! With this project most likely having a budget of about $17 million between the ride and themeing, it is amazing to see Six Flags going for some higher-priced additions. Also this has to be one of my top three favorite coaster themes with the other two being Mystic Timbers and Orion. All that being said, I really hope that this is a testament to how the new CEO plans to carry the company forward. I really want Fiesta Texas to be the mold for other Six Flags parks going forward with them going through and renovating old rides to breath new life into them, creating brand-new themes, creating new park events to tailor to that park specifically, etc. One last thing to note: Six Flags is already blowing Cedar Fair out of the water for 2022. I mean a brand-new raptor for Six Flags Magic Mountain, and a large one at that, a brand-new B&M dive coaster with new elements for a dive coaster, the mystery project at Six Flags Over Georgia, and then all the holdovers from 2020 (which shouldn't really count). All we know for Cedar Fair is a Free Spin and MAYBE the Gerstlauer.1 point

Talk about lesser known DC characters. I think this one qualifies. Looks like a great addition for the park. I look forward to riding it next year or two.1 point
-
Holy crap! What a pleasant surprise. I don't think anybody saw this coming. Also, a two-tone track color scheme? Six Flags building a large B&M? Is it the 2000s again? I am extremely curious to see what additions the other parks are getting, if at all, and if they are perhaps moving beyond their copy-paste business model finally.1 point

**Ahem** Lol all jokes aside, it will definitely be unique to the area and finally Six Flags has a dive coaster in their coaster portfolio!1 point

^ Pre-show? Or .... they're pulling a WTF and putting the Gift Shop first in the queue .... followed by having to use lockers at the station. That was a joke.1 point

Six Flags Fiesta Texas has sent us a press release announcing their new B&M Dive Coaster, Doctor Diabolical's Cliffhanger! Six Flags Fiesta Texas, The Thrill Capital of South Texas, today unveiled plans to debut the world’s steepest dive roller coaster—Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger. This exhilarating new dive coaster features a cliffhanger hold, which suspends riders as they face straight down a 95-degree, beyond-vertical drop, then releases them moments later into a terrifying 150-foot dive. “Six Flags Fiesta Texas continues to push the limits of thrill and innovation as we prepare to introduce the world’s steepest dive coaster during our 30th anniversary season,” said Park President Jeffrey Siebert. “Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger joins an already stellar lineup of record-breaking roller coasters, rides, and attractions. With eight intense elements including dramatic inversions and extreme airtime, it will quickly become a fan favorite,” added Siebert. As guests enter the ride queue, they will be immersed in the story of Dr. Diabolical and her evil quest to create menacing creatures to frighten the world. To give her creations life, Dr. Diabolical constructed a machine to capture the essence of human adrenaline and fear. Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger features three 21-passenger trains that keep the adrenaline flowing as riders reach a height of 15 stories, then pause face-first before diving at 60 mph and flying through a variety of high-thrill experiences. Key features of Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger include: Three sleek trains with three rows of passengers, seated seven across; 2,501 feet of soaring track; Thrilling anticipation while the ride vehicle pauses in a face-first cliffhanger hold before plummeting 150 feet; Spectacular, beyond-vertical, 95-degree first drop; A second 75-foot, near-vertical drop; An Immelmann inversion, during which riders enter a half-loop, followed by a half twist, then exit the element traveling in the opposite direction making a 180-degree turn; Four intense elements, including an extreme airtime hill, wild-banked turn, high-speed spiral, and 270-degree zero-g roll; Speeds of up to 60 mph; Immersive steampunk theming that tells the story of Dr. Diabolical’s plot to harvest fear; and Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger is a custom-designed roller coaster created by Bolliger & Mabillard. Riders must meet the 52-inch height requirement. Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger was announced during the FT92 Fan Event, and will debut in the summer of 2022 during the park’s 30th Anniversary season. It will be located in the Crackaxle Canyon Screampunk District. For more information about Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger, and all the exciting events planned for the 30th Anniversary season at Six Flags Fiesta Texas, visit https://www.sixflags.com/fiestatexas/new-experiences. Bert is at Six Flags Fiesta Texas today sharing details from the announcement as they are released: Will update in a moment. . but it's a B&M dive coaster! "Doctor Diabolical's Cliffhanger" Special built with tons of custom elements - and he referred to it as a record breaker. and also specifically mentioned B&M is doing custom trains (I believe he said 7 across) for this ride. He showed an animated video. . which I'm sure will be online very quickly, if not officially from TPR. . .but here are some stills from the presentation. and the host character is "Doctor Diabolical" who wants to harness your terror for her elixir. Doctor Diabolical: Name reveal then Jeffery teased two versions of Dive Coasters. . .each one bigger than the next. . until the final reveal: Nope: Nope HOLY CRAP !!!!1 point

Getting SF to direct deposit you $200 (that you're just going to give back to them in exchange for more beer) is absolutely something you gloat about on TPR.1 point
-
I wasn't going to gloat to people who only got a $13 voucher but yeah, when they said that they would compensate you a decent amount for every charge between certain dates on credit cards I knew I would have a ton, spent about an hour looking through statements and got a $200 direct deposit from them the other day. It's quite legit.1 point

I got that email, too. However, for only $13, I don't think it's worth following up on.1 point

When you are there make sure to go through Marvel Cave, it's free and the entrance is in the big gift shop that you walk through at the start of the park. It is the whole reason the park exists and is really a cool cave.1 point

This is nothing but opinion based on my own experience. I worked Grizzly Run at GL for 4 seasons. We had rafts flip a few times, never with guests (while I worked there). They would only flip when water levels were too low. Causing the raft to hit the bottom or something and flip. Again, not stating that what occurred on one ride 20 years ago is the same cause that occurred on this ride. Just my first had experience from being an operator of a raft ride.1 point

EDIT: The park said that the fire is contained and the park will be open! Original Post: PSA for everyone in regards to Silverwood. There is apparently a wildfire burning about 1.5 miles west of the park along Brunner Road (the road at the south end of the park). The park was evacuated yesterday around 5, although they say that they are planning to be open today assuming they are not told to be closed by fire authorities. I would expect that the park will say whether they will be open in the next hour or so. Reportedly, the fire is about 87 acres and 30% contained. So far no injuries, deaths, or damage to homes has been reported. The fire wasn't on InciWeb (the online map of fires in the west) yet, but I'll keep checking to see if it appears. Photos courtesy of the local news: That's a little to close to comfort, if you ask me... Hoping everyone who lives, works, or visits in that area stays safe!1 point

Probably. I don't see how that statement is verified based on your facts. Just because there is water visible in an area in drain condition in an aerial doesn't mean it could not be 3" of standing water and the drain is functioning. This is kind of dangerous extrapolation without the facts or expertise (or ability to accurately verify that information) before putting it out there and drawing strong conclusions. Written very artfully and dramatically without any legs. Extra points for sneaking in a political bias based on irrelevant donor information.1 point

Wow, what a rambling series of disconnected thoughts. Paragraph upon paragraph describing Google Earth images. This is not "research." There is nothing firsthand in the entire article. The author read some articles and used some mapping programs and wrote about an Internet search. Nowhere in this entire piece is there any original reporting or any actual journalism. It's sensationalism. Moving on.1 point

My son and I took the 3:45 tour on Tuesday. The tram derailed as we went around the curve at the bottom of the hill. I'm sure the tour after us got the free tour back to the entrance that they warn you about. Don't know how long it will take to fix.0 points
