  1. I love when things like this happen because all the enthusiasts who say things like "Six Flags doesn't build B&Ms" or "no parks in the US will ever build Intamins again" have to put their foot in their mouths.

  2. Six Flags Fiesta Texas has sent us a press release announcing their new B&M Dive Coaster, Doctor Diabolical's Cliffhanger! Six Flags Fiesta Texas, The Thrill Capital of South Texas, today unveiled plans to debut the world’s steepest dive roller coaster—Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger. This exhilarating new dive coaster features a cliffhanger hold, which suspends riders as they face straight down a 95-degree, beyond-vertical drop, then releases them moments later into a terrifying 150-foot dive. “Six Flags Fiesta Texas continues to push the limits of thrill and innovation as we prepare to introduce the world’s steepest dive coaster during our 30th anniversary season,” said Park President Jeffrey Siebert. “Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger joins an already stellar lineup of record-breaking roller coasters, rides, and attractions. With eight intense elements including dramatic inversions and extreme airtime, it will quickly become a fan favorite,” added Siebert. As guests enter the ride queue, they will be immersed in the story of Dr. Diabolical and her evil quest to create menacing creatures to frighten the world. To give her creations life, Dr. Diabolical constructed a machine to capture the essence of human adrenaline and fear. Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger features three 21-passenger trains that keep the adrenaline flowing as riders reach a height of 15 stories, then pause face-first before diving at 60 mph and flying through a variety of high-thrill experiences. Key features of Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger include: Three sleek trains with three rows of passengers, seated seven across; 2,501 feet of soaring track; Thrilling anticipation while the ride vehicle pauses in a face-first cliffhanger hold before plummeting 150 feet; Spectacular, beyond-vertical, 95-degree first drop; A second 75-foot, near-vertical drop; An Immelmann inversion, during which riders enter a half-loop, followed by a half twist, then exit the element traveling in the opposite direction making a 180-degree turn; Four intense elements, including an extreme airtime hill, wild-banked turn, high-speed spiral, and 270-degree zero-g roll; Speeds of up to 60 mph; Immersive steampunk theming that tells the story of Dr. Diabolical’s plot to harvest fear; and Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger is a custom-designed roller coaster created by Bolliger & Mabillard. Riders must meet the 52-inch height requirement. Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger was announced during the FT92 Fan Event, and will debut in the summer of 2022 during the park’s 30th Anniversary season. It will be located in the Crackaxle Canyon Screampunk District. For more information about Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger, and all the exciting events planned for the 30th Anniversary season at Six Flags Fiesta Texas, visit https://www.sixflags.com/fiestatexas/new-experiences. Bert is at Six Flags Fiesta Texas today sharing details from the announcement as they are released: Will update in a moment. . but it's a B&M dive coaster! "Doctor Diabolical's Cliffhanger" Special built with tons of custom elements - and he referred to it as a record breaker. and also specifically mentioned B&M is doing custom trains (I believe he said 7 across) for this ride. He showed an animated video. . which I'm sure will be online very quickly, if not officially from TPR. . .but here are some stills from the presentation. and the host character is "Doctor Diabolical" who wants to harness your terror for her elixir. Doctor Diabolical: Name reveal then Jeffery teased two versions of Dive Coasters. . .each one bigger than the next. . until the final reveal: Nope: Nope HOLY CRAP !!!!

  3. I wasn't going to gloat to people who only got a $13 voucher but yeah, when they said that they would compensate you a decent amount for every charge between certain dates on credit cards I knew I would have a ton, spent about an hour looking through statements and got a $200 direct deposit from them the other day. It's quite legit.

  4. silly. . I saw him. I was just commenting she sang GaGa to close out the presentation. they then all went out front to pose with park attendees today. . . in the Texas heat - in leather and vinyl. I hope they got double pay!

  5. This is also true. I can easily get like six Bud Lights at the park with that money.

  6. Getting SF to direct deposit you $200 (that you're just going to give back to them in exchange for more beer) is absolutely something you gloat about on TPR.

  7. ^ Pre-show? Or .... they're pulling a WTF and putting the Gift Shop first in the queue .... followed by having to use lockers at the station. That was a joke.

  8. Today I pulled the pin on our USA road trip since the next US travel review isn't until the 21 August. Just want to shout out to Cedar Point customer service. They refunded our breakers money in full plus didn't quibble about refunding the fast lane passes either. Compared to Hershey that offered a voucher for next year and Kings Dominion and BGW who didn't even reply. Great customer service CP. Thank you for accommodating our situation.

  9. watching the live stream now. . . he's talking about Frightfest stuff (not to the new ride). . but confirmed new Logo for Poltergeist, and that the queue will now have an indoor and AIR-CONDITIONED element. the theming of the stage is VERY steam-punk circus. . we shall see when they announce! Forgot to come back and post this: new Poltergeist logo:

  10. No, I don't think I've mentioned it here but I can absolutely confirm that this is legitimate. Enjoy your voucher.

  11. Don't worry, the Internet will keep your secret. We promise. Coasterstock does look like a good event. I'm going to have to make it one of these years.

  12. Sucks doesn't it. Not living right in your neck of the woods but having been there a number of times through my growing up years I have seen the change. The area was always religious and conservative but we were there right after the 2016 election and people had put up all sorts of billboards rejoicing that HC had lost the election and the vitriol in these completely unnecessary "ads" was unbelievable. That's when I knew things had really taken a vicious turn. BUT nobody should be deterred from visiting, SDC is a really great park and the employees will go out of their way to be helpful.

  13. If I may chime in for a sec. . . I made my first trip to the park last month. I was pretty impress. Now, the food sucked but the atmosphere, the ride selection and the overall feel of the park was very welcoming to me. I consider myself a person that gets to a lot of parks and have been doing so for some time. I can see how someone who has been going to the park for 10 years could say the park has changed but honestly, what hasn't changed in 10 years? My philosophy is if the good outweighs the bad then i'm good! With growth comes growing pains and I hate to be that person but things could have gotten a lot worst in the last 10 years especially for a family owned park. . .

  15. That's true. He would never take the time to look through and read a lot of posts. He just relies on me to give him any important info.

  16. Holy crap! What a pleasant surprise. I don't think anybody saw this coming. Also, a two-tone track color scheme? Six Flags building a large B&M? Is it the 2000s again? I am extremely curious to see what additions the other parks are getting, if at all, and if they are perhaps moving beyond their copy-paste business model finally.

  26. that's the thing about being part of the LGBTQ community. . you get to choose your family. yes, it's nice to be close to blood relatives, but if you don't see eye to eye? move somewhere and become part of a community that won't judge you (or more accurately, you WILL be judged, but it doesn't mean that you won't be welcomed and supported regardless )

  28. I've done the lantern tour and it was worth every penny. You get into some parts of the cave that the regular tour doesn't go, there's actually remains of a cabin down one of the offshoots. If you can maneuver it, try to be at the back of the tour group, i found it interesting to occasionally look back into complete darkness (especially if you can lag back just a step or two and shut your lantern off for a moment). We haven't been in the cave for a long time, it was closed (along with Grandfather's Mansion) most if not all of last year. And due to our schedule we haven't been back yet this year; watch it have to close again by the time we go in the fall.

  29. The two days following Coasterstock, I was on both Windseeker & Diamondback during the fireworks. It was fantastic. Just lucked out. Sorry I missed you guys at the event. Soooo much better than Coastermania at that place up north.

  30. Just a quick FYI: Like all customer service industries in Illinois right now, Great America is fully open, but not fully staffed. I didn't get to the park for my first visit this year with my Membership until July, but I have now been there a few times this month. Yankee Clipper is SBNO. Logger's Run has limited hours. Demon is SBNO (according to the staff, it is in need of some hard to get mechanical part) but "may" reopen later this year. It only operated at the beginning of the season, but intermittently even then. Roaring Rapids is sometimes running, sometimes not. Mardis Gras Hangover is largely non-operational. American Eagle is only operating with the Red Side running. Blue trains are not even on the track. Approximately 30% of 'snack stands' are not operating. No Single Rider Only line on Goliath, but the one for The Joker is now open. Flat rides are anyone's guess. I have seen them all operational at one point, but on most visits, there are at least two that are not running. The Train is back! I believe it has way more throughput than Superman. (Ugh, I hate that line though I like the ride.) Waterpark has been super-crowded every visit. That's it for now.

  35. Shhhhhhh........ I did NOT tell Joel things opened back up. It did rain later and hotel employee told me at breakfast that it rained all night. I did ride Adv Express, Joel and I were just ahead of you and waiting on the exit ramp for you guys when the ball hit me. Little twerp. We rode red since their were two blue trains and one red to guarantee a race.

  37. I did get it I picked it up from the Online Store when I got back, since I discovered that although the KI Limited Edition Squishmallows were sold out in the park (and the store closed), they still had the 3 I wanted in the online store! . . . . tho it hasn't arrived yet, it has been ordered!

  38. Sounds like you had a great time at Coasterstock. Sorry you weren't able to make it to the book signing. I hope you're able to still purchase Kings Island: A Ride Through Time. It will answer all your questions about the park, and I think you'll really enjoy it!

  39. ^ Just bring a mask and you'll be ok. You'll get stares. For sure you'll get stares. Like hostile glares from multiple people. I live around here and I've taken to masking again since the rise of the Delta variant (just when indoors or when there's too many people around in an outdoor area, you know, like the CDC says). Hoo boy the distrust in the eyes of people, the wariness, like they are concerned I'm going to jump them with a knife or something. It's absolutely unreal. That attitude is the cause of why this variant has taken hold in this area. So that's what's happening. I want you to be aware of what you're walking into, but with eyes open you'll be ok. Just take care of yourself, act real friendly and be super polite, and they'll leave you alone. God, this is how I have to talk about my neighbours now. This place has become so hateful in the last decade or so.... Trust me, it hasn't always been like this. People used to be nice here.

  40. Even if I didn't had that special experience, Millennium Force is and will ever be the one coaster I'll be always thinking of if I try to rank, compare or define any coaster I am riding. It is just pure pleasure to me. We had four nights at Cedar Point in July 2017 and ended every day with binge riding Millennium Force. It's just such a wholesome feeling the darker it gets. I haven't had a comparable coaster experience yet. I rode better coasters. I rode more intense coasters. I rode faster coasters. I rode higher coasters. I rode steeper coasters. But no one gave me this complete, heart soothing enduring experience you have from entering the station to leaving it after a couple of laps while using the magic gate.

  42. Great video! I've officially conquered all the Floorless coasters in the country and Superman still reigns supreme in my opinion. The interaction with the cliff, glossy smooth ride, and unique layout puts it above the rest for me. I believe it is also the tallest and fastest one.

  43. ^ such a great coaster. . . LOL. . and I was just watching some folks lose their minds over a "Bill of Lading" shipment from B&M to SFFT that got leaked. only to have Jeffrey Siebert pop into the thread and say: Sorry folks, it's needed replacement parts to have on hand for Superman, NOT the new 2022 ride.

  45. Yep. Just booked Breakers and flights. I'm gonna shop around for the cheapest rental car but I've decided that's the best (and most reliable) option, despite being $$$$. Thank you all for the advice. I'm excited to finally come back and ride SV. Hopefully the park's operations and staffing are tolerable the last weekend in August. It's before Labor Day so I should expect most things to be open, right? lol

  46. Hi Hoosier Dude, I believe we've seen your updated review on Google. I apologize that we didn't update our response until just a few minutes ago (Google doesn't put those in our "new reviews" section). I just want to express that our team puts our hearts and souls into what we do. When a ride goes down, we will spend what it takes to get it back up and operating safely as quickly as possible. Right now, we're at the mercy of a mess of a global supply chain--both with food and ride parts, but our team is going above and beyond in so many invisible ways to get rides back and food in restaurants this year. I'm proud to be a part of that team. That said, the days of your visit were particularly unlucky days for our maintenance team. We'd like to find a way to make your experience better, but we need to be able to converse with you in an appropriate forum--would you mind sending us an email at comments@holidayworld.com?
