  1. They're counting down the years until they get a new coaster.

  2. You're right it went up to $330 + tax, even August during the week. I'll go before they reduce their hours again, looks like 10pm weekdays go thru the week of Aug 9. If you aren't a weirdo and wanna tag along to make this trip more cost effective please DM me haha.

  3. ^Yeah, I love that they have a "Surf" coaster themed to Fire! I mean, fire makes any ride better so it's fine with me!

  4. As far as Joel making it onto Orion from Beast with 5 minutes to spare...........he has pulled that sort of thing off a bunch of times. Amazing that he can make it all the way across a theme park in a couple minutes but takes him hours to clean up his room or do a simple homework assignment or take a shower, etc, etc, Teens. Are. Annoying.

  5. It looks like it is the end! It's actually surprising the owner still keeps it open! Probably a matter of weeks. While it's very sad to see it go, CLP went on for so many extra years. The park was doomed many times but somehow always survived. This is why we should never take any park or coaster for granted. You just never know when it will be the end so you have to go to the parks while thay are open. I'm glad I went there a couple times. I really enjoyed the Blue Streak.

  6. So a real estate developer bought the park and is clearing the prime real estate near the water so it's now just an empty lot with a nice boardwalk, slowly closing everything permanent and throwing up a few carnival rides that they can tow out of there in a few hours to reveal more empty, buildable lots? Sounds like the future of the park is looking bright! I'm sure Blue Streak will reopen in no-time.

  7. Swamp Fox! Beware the back seats on that thing. They can do a number on your back. Family Kingdom also has Sally Corp's first ever shooting dark ride. It's great. I was down there a couple weeks ago.

  9. I realize he bought the park pretty last minute to fix this place up entirely. But it certainly seems like he could've gotten the mini golf up and running, as well as the Flyers, Tilt-A-Whirl, etc. Putting in these VERY temporary looking rides just seems pretty short-sighted. Clearly not somebody who has any experience running a park. May not have an interest in doing so beyond this year. Ain't no way in the world he will put his own money toward fixing the Blue Streak if he can't be bothered to put the $$ into fixing the flats they still have left. I'd love for the park to succeed. Blue Streak, the Carousel, and Devil's Den are worth keeping around (as were the Turtles).

  10. Got back a little bit ago from going to GAdv with my kids for their first time to the park, and we all had a great day, on a manageable day crowd-wise! (The same could not be said for Hurricane Harbor, apparently, based on them reaching capacity again, having a security incident that briefly closed the park, and then making the decision to go pass-holders only the rest of the season!) Even my 7 year old rode everything he could, including Zumanjaro, and Jersey Devil! Jersey Devil was my first RMC Single rail coaster, and our first two rides in the morning underwhelmed me, at least based on my expectations for it. I rode first in the front seat, then the back seat, and while the back was definitely better than the front for air, it wasn't as wild as I was expecting. At the end of the day, after dark, and presumably, after the coaster had sufficiently warmed up throughout the day, it was a different story! I rode in the 4th seat from the front, and 3rd from the back (on the last train of the night!), and both were awesome rides, wild, and full of airtime, just like I was anticipating! So clearly this is another coaster that gets better as the day goes on! Waits were manageable all day, with none ever topping a half hour for JD (I hate the "Coaster" part of the name, so I just ignore it, FYI), so that gives an idea of the crowd levels of the day. It broke down a couple of times, just that I saw, but never seemed to stay down long. All in all, it was a great coaster, and a great addition to the park! I love the area around it, and I'd say it settles in nicely as the second best coaster at the park, behind The Bull! I'm not sure what our longest wait of the day was for, but it felt like it was for the parachutes ride! lol Only two chutes were operating, which turned what seemed like a reasonable line, into one that pretty much matched the wait time for Superman nearby (I went on Parachutes with my 7 year old while the older three kids went on Superman, and there wasn't much time difference between our experiences!) The longest wait of the day may have been either Kingda Ka (with a breakdown included), or Green Lantern (for obvious reasons), but even those topped out around 40-45 minutes. Not bad for a Summertime day at GAdv, and we were able to pretty much do the whole park that we wanted to do! We skipped Joker because we're not crazy about it in general, and we preferred to get more rides on JD. I attempted to get on Wonder Woman, which would have been my first Giant Discovery, but as it had been doing all day, it broke down as soon as I entered the line, and it was near the end of the day, so I didn't bother staying in line. I don't think it opened again. It also was pulling a large wait, it appeared. The longest wait time of the day on the app was stunningly Nitro, which was listed as 70 minutes! I couldn't believe it, as B&M Hypers are usually people eaters. We rode it early in the day and it was a walk-on, but we skipped a second ride at night due to the wait. All in all, a great day at GAdv, and I have to say this is definitely my favorite SF park for rides, and thrills! My kids also loved it, and my 7 year old looks forward to coming back when he's over 54", so he can ride everything he missed this time around! I have a few other thoughts about the day, and the park, but I'll have to post them at a later time, as I have to crash right now, as we're hitting the road to make the 12 hour trip back home in about 8 hours.

  13. At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if Kingda Ka’s launch cable snapped.

  14. Just adding to what most of you have said, yeah, this is not out of the ordinary at all. Roller coasters are giant big machines and there are more and more of them so there will be more of them breaking down or having issues. Throw in the supply chain issues on top of everything else mentioned and yeah, that's where we're at. Can't wait till 2025 when we look back at this thread from whatever horror is going on then and laugh!

  16. I kind of feel like arcades, FECs, and amusement type places are similar, so I posted this here. The museum of pinball in Banning California has closed and there will be an auction to liquidate the equipment. Banning was near Casino Morongo so nice for gambling and arcade games. Despite the article, you previously were able to play all weekend for $150 or approx. $60 per day. It was a nice family weekend. I am glad the pinball place survived in Vegas. https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2021/07/a-look-back-at-the-museum-of-pinballs-huge-collection-of-games/

  17. Took a trip to the park today. For all of the “clean up” that went on, the place still looks like a dump. Actually, it looked better back in 2019. Apparently admission plans vary. The girl at the ticket booth asked if I was “just there to walk around”, and I said I’d like to ride the Devil’s Den. She said I can buy 4 tickets for $10 (each ride is one ticket). All day ride pass was $15. Plus the “water park” is an additional charge. I decided to buy the 4 tickets. The park is selling t-shirts and tank tops inside the main gate if you want to show your support Walking in, the first thing you see is that the cables and tubs of the Flying Scooters are missing. A “No Trespassing” sign is posted on the ride’s fence. To the right of the Flying Scooters, the Paratrooper is also down with no signs of life. Also at the front of the park is a new, portable Dizzy Dragons ride and a very old Swing ride which was just plopped down on a muddy piece of land (old Tilt A Whirl site). And finally, a new 3 lane portable slide was set up to the left of the main entrance. As you walk down the midway, the train is closed and the entrance crime scene taped off, the mini golf course is closed with a “No Trespassing” sign attached and that all violators will be prosecuted. The old Tumble Bug cars are just randomly plopped along the midway here, reminding guests of a ride that was just not able to be salvaged. The water slides and lazy river were doing a good business, so that was good to see. As you keep walking, the empty spot where the Bug used to reside is fenced off, as is the former Music Express site. Further back, the “new” Octopus can be seen, but it is not operating. The Blue Streak station is sitting there with peeling paint and obviously no activity. The Carousel was running and looked decent. There was an odd thing about the rides up front as there are no more paths to the rides. Just mulched areas. The Devils Den was probably the most popular ride. It was missing its classic sign, but the inside was in fine working order and all the stunts looked great. Major props to Devils Den Tom for all of his hard work and upkeep of this classic dark ride. Another funny thing was that they had carnival games set up. A ring the bottle game was set up on a picnic table. A dart balloon game was set up across the way, and a “Ninja Warrior” bar hang was randomly set up outside the Carousel. It was truly bizarre. But this is Conneaut Lake, so I guess I shouldn’t have expected any different! On the former site of Witch’s Stew sits what looks like a new portable Tilt A Whirl. It too was not operating. And next door to that was the old Trabant, stripped down with the cars freshly painted and possibly awaiting reinstallation. A very small pony ride was set up across from Kiddieland. I didn’t travel through Kiddieland though, but it looks like a few small rides were thrown up randomly and the old kiddie carousel was removed. Finally, the old midway area was completely leveled and has fencing placed all around it. No Log Cabin Gift Shop, no game buildings, no old Hostile Hostel building… just grass and a lone food stand. This is where it really sunk in that this really may be the final year for Conneaut Lake. Just looking around and taking it all in was surreal. While I will stay positive that the park will survive, I just don’t see it happening. Sorry for the long write up. I’ll try and get some pics up tomorrow.
