This is a pointless argument, go back to complaining about Mystery Mine's new track or something.2 points

I just looked at that yesterday when searching for pictures of the Mule-Go-Round. (I was debating on changing my avatar.)2 points

Thanks for the report. I'm still surprised they haven't RMC'd The Boss yet, it certainly must be high on the list but I just don't think corporate seems to care a lot about this park right now.1 point

The optimist in me says they're doing this so they can transfer a second train on without having to dispatch the first from the station. The realist in me suspects the control system just broke and they waited until the last minute to replace it. On the bright side, every other ride was open including Thunder Rapids. That ride was closed all of last year and rarely runs outside of peak season due to its asinine location.1 point

I haven't ridden Untamed yet, but I'd easily put this above Wildfire. It's challenging Expedition GeForce for my top spot.1 point

decided to go check out Knott's opening day. but already had reservations for this week. since i didn't make the reservation, and my friend isn't usually available while working, i decided to just go to the information center and see if they could cancel my reservations and let me in. had to wait an hour to get that handles because they are just short staffed right now. so i didn't get in until around 1pm. by that time, the crowds really were packing in. so it made for some pretty long lines. so i just hung out with some friends and just did a few rides. jaguar!, swings and log ride. log ride didn't open until later in the afternoon and the line instantly ballooned to about two hours. i'm not sure what capacity is, but judging by the cars in the parking lot, the cars were about where they are in a normal summer weekday. so like Universal, get there early so you have very small crowds until 12-1pm, then it's pretty crowded and lines get long for everything. still had a lot of fun and will be back in a couple days.1 point

Now that you say that I very vaguely remember that they had that but frankly do not remember anything about it. I think that was around the time I was first married, spending all my non-working time showing my horses and just wasn't at the park much in those days. But as long as we are getting all nostalgic and talking about mule go round's and dolphin shows I found this when I was trying to jar my memory of the Robin Hood Show. Should bring some memories for some of you, it did for me. Including enjoying the parking lot tram as much as any of the rides when I was very young, lol. https://www.stltoday.com/entertainment/arts-and-theatre/hotlist/jet-scream-momo-the-monster-mule-go-round-and-more-six-flags-attractions-of-yore/collection_24261912-63ba-5312-94d2-045d643af7b0.html#25 P.S. - Time Tunnel was the traditional teen make out ride of it's day........! Adding the vocals was terrible. SDC had slower instrumental only versions of classic and modern songs when we were there last.1 point

Or they could just close it and leave it rot and not put anything there, which is the cheapest and likeliest option.1 point

So a few years ago they had 3 water rides and they removed all but the worst one? ... cool1 point

Well the woodies run one train all the time...and the ops are hit or miss so those lines can range from 45 minutes to an hour and half, although they tend to change throughout the day. The park counts their busy season as the 4th of July through Labor Day, but some days are better than others. Days to definitely stay away from are Opening Weekend, 4th of July, Toyota Tuesdays, or pretty much any day the waterpark is closed. Boulder Beach (the attached waterpark) is the "people eater" for the park, so not having it open really puts too much of a burden on the theme park. I think the Canadian border is still closed so that will help a bit, especially if you go later in the summer. The best days are weekdays in June when the waterpark is open, but I've also had good luck with weekdays later in the season as well. Get to the park at 10:15 and rope drop either the wooden coasters if your starting with the theme park, or Ricochet Rapids and Avalanche Mountain if your starting with the waterpark. You should be able to do each at least 2-3 times with little to no wait before the crowds show up. In general, the earlier you get there and the later you stay the better the crowds will be. Some other random tips: -Aftershock can't run in cold weather or if there's winds above 150'. If it's closed in the morning, wait till mid-afternoon (around 3 or so) and it will probably open up. You can see it testing from almost anywhere in the park, so if you see it testing start making your way over there. -The back seat is probably the best on all the coasters. Although I'm sure someone here will disagree... -Don't go to the train at the last minute, or it will be full. You should get there about 15 minutes before it leaves (the top of every hour). The best seats are either the open-air car in the middle or and further back. Make sure you sit on the side of the train station (right hand side) for the best views of the stunt show. -Chuckwagon John's (in the picnic pavilions behind Tremors) is THE BEST!!! It's all-you-can-eat BBQ, plus salad corn bread, drinks, mash potatoes, etc. Other solid options are the High Moon Saloon on Main Street, and the bake goods at the Victorian Coffee House and Silverwood Coffee Roasting and Trading. The new paninis at Caselli's over by Corkscrew look good (haven't tried them but they look really good). Most everything else is maybe slightly above average theme park food, better than Six Flags or Cedar Fair but nothing to write home about. If you want ice cream go to the South Creamery across from Panic Plunge, it has the same ice cream the main Ice Creamery is famous for but with shorter lines. -Stunt Pilot opens on May 29. It has two trains but it's a real wild card on if they'll use them, how popular it will be, how it will effect crowds on the other rides. -The magic show is really good, it's won some awards, and it's pretty popular but you can usually get a seat if you get there about 10-15 minutes before the show starts. Nick Norton is the magician everyone talks about, but Isaiah Daniels (Nick's protégé) is also pretty good. -Enjoy yourself!! The park is really pretty all times of the year, and there's more to see and do than there initially seems so take a little time and enjoy it all!1 point

The designation of an "ACE Coaster Classic" is nothing more than: a) No seatbelts b) No seat dividers c) Fixed position (non-racheting) lap bars. A couple of "ACE Coaster Classics" have had their "status" removed (both "Grand National" and "Coaster" at Blackpool), and nobody seemed to care. It's also a way that ACE kisses up to a park trying to get more perks. They decide where they'd like to hold a national event (CoasterCon, SpringCon etc...), find a coaster they may meet their criteria, give them this special "honor" and then ask for more perks, as only coasters that meet "ACE's" high standards (gag, ack, barf) get this "honor". It's a faux honor, at best. I know exactly where you're coming from. I'd heard about this thing for years, before I finally went to ride it (due to the yearly "Playland is closing" rumors). In fact, it looks almost identical to "Coaster Thrill Ride" at the Puyallup fairgrounds. While "Coaster Thrill Ride" is a fun ride (and an "ACE Coaster Classic" as well), I could only give this a 6 on a scale of 10. But, once I got up to Vancouver and rode "Coaster", I (like many others) was completely blown away!! It has some of the most severe airtime and laterals on any coaster, and it's only 68 feet tall!! I actually prefer this to Phoenix (not blasphemy!!), as it has more laterals, and still has incredibly scary airtime. In Mitch's poll last year, it came in at #23. That's still in pretty damn good company. Personally, I still have it ranked in my top 10, at #10 (out of 161 wooden coasters). It's truly a gem. JJ (Edited to add) Nice pics Bill! Now, go get a digital camera!!1 point
