Just scheduled an appointment to get the vaccine on Wednesday! I'm most likely getting Moderna due to when my 2nd appointment is.3 points

Awesome! I'm interested to hear if this will open with a conventional queue or a virtual queue like Hagrid's has been using. I'm thinking they may use the latter. I'd want to make sure I can actually ride this a few times in a day before booking a trip.2 points

I got mine (Moderna) three weeks ago this Wednesday; my second is in a week!2 points

I'm so happy this is happening after our next trip. It looks great and I can't wait to ride it in the fall but also I would rather shoot myself in the face than go there opening weekend and it was looking like a distinct possibility.1 point

The park is looking pretty good, considering last year. Considering Catwoman is going to need different clearances, I would only imagine significant changes will take place in that area. I don't expect anything to happen this year when attention can be paid elsewhere. I'm with everyone else hoping something is done about Eagle's queue. I mean... is verbal communication even a thing anymore, for the oncoming workforce?... This is always a conversation. I don't understand why people keep eating food at SF parks. I wouldn't wait an hour at my favorite pizza place, let alone for park food. Not even cinnamon bread is worth an hour. I think the balance will still be there, replacing Superman with a visually imposing thrill ride, which also capitalizes on height. Superman was probably my favorite drop tower and it will be personally missed, but only to an extent. (The loss won't personally be as bad as when we lost Mr. Freeze...) It seemed so much taller than it was and the view was good. But, as far as popularity goes, I don't think SFSTL is missing much. The Moon Cars ate shit after Evil Kinevil was added. I remember we were all surprised to see them come back and the opinions were mixed at best. I was looking forward to taking Eve on them, as one of the only rides she could go on, but it's a good long term play.1 point

wonder what the total attendance was set at? Did they attempt to keep it smaller, and hence sold out so quickly? hope to meet up with some of my fellow TPR folks while there!1 point

I don't believe the park is using the virtual queue this year. For that reason, it's definitely possible to do both in one day. I would recommend going on the water coasters at Splashin' Safari immediately after the water park opens. If you knock those out early, you will avoid the longest waits. In my experience, the water coasters always have longer lines than the roller coasters. In most years, the coaster lines max out around 15-30 minutes.1 point

It's not going to close. First of all, it's going to print money once people start traveling to NY again. Second of all, if I'm wrong and it loses a ton of money the taxpayers will just dump buckets of money into it perpetually forever like they've been doing for two decades now...1 point

YES! Got tickets for both! Haven't been to KI for a few years, and missed Cedar Point last summer for the first time since 1976! Seriously! I have gone every year from 1976-2019, working there 1986-90 and 2000.1 point

got literally ZERO work done this morning, but did manage to get ticket to CoasterStock at Kings Island, a Hotel Booked, a Rental Car booked, a Flight Booked, and time off requested for it. pretty dang good, for something that was just mentioned to me as an idea that "you should attend, it's always very good" on Friday. . oh, and tickets go on sale Monday, so you have to decide quickly. it's gonna be an adventure! a park and city I've never been to. and it made me very happy. . now, if Covid can just stay under control (sorta) for 3 months, so as not to screw up this trip (or Dragon*con in Atlanta over Labor Day weekend), I'll be VERY happy.1 point

I was just looking at the mall directory map and was shocked by how few stores there are. Theyve resorted to listing both (3?) floors of shopping on a single image to make it seem more full than it is...1 point

I wonder if CraZanity is closed due to concerns about guests keeping their masks on. The one ride type that has routinely been difficult to keep my mask on has been these giant frisbees because of how the wind hits your face at a variety of angles. The mask has never come close to blowing away, but it will always slide down to my chin on this type of ride unless I actively hold it up during the ride. Wasn't there a statement in the California reopening guidelines that some rides may have to shut down if they would be hard to keep masks on for?1 point

^And that's part of the problem. When nearby coaster enthusiasts don't even want to go and shell out the money, a lot of GP doesn't want to either. It's overpriced and not operationally pleasant at this time. I hope they get it better and soon!1 point

This poor mall takes years to open and gets hit by a once-in-a-100 year pandemic when they finally open.1 point

^ Ha! That's the way to do it! Tell 'em you paid a lot for that trip! Of course, you should expect special perks.... And jail just happens to be one of them. What an ass.1 point

Fast Lane passes are not being sold on a daily basis yet; its possible that they won't all year. Right now you can buy an all-season, all-park Fast Lane for all Cedar Fair parks through one of the sites that are selling them (that will be valid at Cedar Point), but as I mentioned it's super pricey. Two days at CP, especially weekends, are advised even with Fast Lane plus...there's just that much to do. Many major rides do not drop you right in the station either (Millennium Force and Raptor are the biggest offenders), so you might still have 15-30 minutes from the "merge" point. Steel Vengeance, at its height before COVID, got 45 minute Fast Lane waits and it DOES drop you in the station. Going on a Saturday and Sunday without a Fast Lane....you might have to skip out on some things. If the decision really is a "this year OR next year" and not a "this year AND next year" thing, I'd say you should wait for next year.1 point
-
Haha....$299 is for the Kings Dominion-only all-season Fast Lane. The all-park is $875. I added it to my Platinum as soon as they offered it last year after two kinda miserable trips to both CP and KI without it, and then got 3 days at each park with it. For me, that paid for itself. The fact that its valid all this year too is just icing on the cake. If you go to the parks enough it's doesn't work out that bad math-wise. Figure $150 a day at CP, $75-95 a day at KI or KD...you really only need like 7 days (or 5 to CP) to make it worthwhile. I've reached the point in my life where waiting with the public more than 15 minutes makes me want to blow my brains out, so it's completely invaluable to me.1 point

Everyone in SoCal (and the rest of the country) had the same opportunity to travel to parks that weren't shutdown as anyone else. I don't think Newsom was exiling those who left the state (but it wouldn't surprise me if he was). Skimming back through the past few pages here didn't give me the impression that there were "serious doubts"...Six Flags is owning pandemic operations everywhere else, there's no reason to imagine it would be different there. The only doom and gloom came from Californians, who, pardon my stereotyping, tend to have somewhat of a "we're special compared to everyone else" attitude. EDIT: Look, I'm not trying to be argumentative. I just think that Californians are making a much bigger deal out of this than they should. The companies figured out how to operate in a pandemic last summer, there's no new special magic that needed to be applied here.1 point

The last couple of days i've been thinking about how to post new updates to this topic over the next couple of weeks/months. Here's my idea.. i'll just do a memory lane trip. Basically post pictures from all my TPR related travels, chronical order and favorite images. This could be one update from a small park.. or multiple updates from bigger parks. Maybe even a crazy amount of images from a single ride. It all depends on how you guys react to this. Let me know if you like the idea (or not) and keep posting comments. The more reactions i'm getting, the more motivated i'll be to keep posting pictures. To start this off. First Themepark i visited with TPR was back in 07 (time flies) The park was Klotten. Home to all kinds of playground areas (fun for kids and adults) and a crazy mouse like coaster (forgot the name and too lazy to look it up) felt like a perfect introduction to the fun TPR is.1 point

Near-perfect weather on a holiday weekend early in the season when the park is always severely understaffed and the experience was sub-par? I for one am shocked.1 point

I still believe Six Flags needs to install a food locker system for mobile orders. The bottleneck seems to be customer-facing staff, not the kitchens. If anyone has been to a Little Cesar's recently they have their Pizza Portals that keep your food warm and they unlock with a QR code and/or PIN code sent to your phone. The kitchen is able to just make food and toss it into these things.1 point

Trip Report from Friday April the 2nd We got to the park around 11am, the parking gate was slowly crawling cars through with the parking lot already quite busy for a 49 degree morning. All coasters, expect for River King Mine Train and of course Boss, were running. Screaming Eagle was hauling today, more so than on opening weekend, which was quite pleasant flying through the newly budding/flowering spring trees. Boss didn't open until around the last 2hrs of park operations, which was our last ride before the park closed at 6pm. Boss also gave a great ride, even though it was running "cold", though I agree the mid course brake is horrible. The moment we hit the MCBR, the train gave a horrible screech as it was slowed to a crawl. River King Mine Train had a bucket lift stretched to the first hill, with maintenance crawling all over it, the ride was not operational today. Though I did notice new wood on the base of the supports of River King, so that was a plus to see. Thunder River and Log Flume were still not operational though I heard they are suppose to open this weekend, which is supported by the fact that the Flume has it logs in the trough and I saw staff moving the Thunder's rafts from the holding pool into the lift area. All coasters that were running, from what I could tell, were running multiple trains which helped moved a lot of the crowds in the very long lines. Mr Freeze no longer had a reduced cap. sign. but I couldn't tell if it was operating multiple trains so someone who had a chance to ride would have to chime in about that. In terms of Covid, they are still not managing it well. I didn't see no cleaning going on around the park until closing when I saw a operator spraying down Shazam. Bathrooms were for the most part, at least in the Men's, dirty. Stalls and urinals were pretty well used, some stalls no toilet paper, and we encountered quite a few empty soap dispensers. Ride wise, the operators were not enforcing distancing. But at least on the Boss, they did make sure people kept there masks up, which was the only instance where I saw staff enforcing masks rules. Otherwise lines were long and close, but I really don't know how else they can fix that, besides enforcing a electronic queue. But this is Six Flags, and I don't ever imagine that happening, or like in the case of their mobile food ordering being used efficiently. So besides a hiccup at the food stand, I can say I had a good day, I love my local park even with its flaws. My kid is just getting into the age where he can start riding the big coasters, and while I wish we had a SFGA Little Dipper as part of our collection, he really warmed up to Screaming Eagle and got his first ride on The Boss which might be his next favorite in the park. Ninja is still quite scary for him though, and American Thunder is too rough for him New wood fencing as pointed out by Danrarbc, which I noticed they replaced quite a bit over by the Kids Area: I wonder if they will open a new restaurant in the old Go Fresh location, the park is really lacking in food options: This area looks quite dead, please SFSTL, revamp this area and open this section of the park up: Forgot there used to be a food stand here, looks like it hasn't been used in many years: Superman's old queue, almost striped of its old theming: Except for this: Two closed restaurants, one shot: Need to blend the Employee Restaurant facade with the area, instead of screaming closed restaurant: Boom Lift on River King Mine Train: New wood spotted at the base: Spot the nesting goose : Ninja: Something I noticed in Ninja, that was not common park wide, was the Covid "shields" in queue: Moon Cars are no longer hiding behind American Thunder: Took over an hour to get our food, which we ordered mobile from Colonnades after 1pm: Mobile Orders are the middle line, which they have a this tiny sign under the awning giving the only direction: Only two employees are manning the counter, which consists of three separate lines, one for drinks, one for mobile orders, and the last for ordering: We got in line at 140pm, didn't our food until 240pm , by then this is what the heat window looked like: Six Flags about had a mob going of frustrated customers, most of us were waiting since 1pm to get our food. That heat window had orders backed up into the kitchen. This was the only negative on our trip. 992957555_20210402_1433352.mp41 point

It sure has been a while. Covid has messed up lots of plans, lots of potential coaster trips. Hoping to ride some coasters later this year, and maybe check out some new stuff as well. Anyway, might as well try and post some more "old" stuff and maybe bring this topic back to life. Here are some Gold Rush opening day pictures. These are from 2017 (time sure flies)1 point

Even if they got it running reliably, it comes down to ridership. If it cost x amount to constantly maintain a ride that guests don't really care about that much it just doesn't make sense anymore. I really wonder how many of the people that are really upset about moon cars and Superman leaving actually ride them multiple times a visit.1 point

finally "won" the lotto. . . Austin Public Health announced that they were getting 4000 vaccinations in tomorrow, and they would open up the sign up site at 6:30 pm. my Spouse and i both got online, and waited - they do it by assigning random numbers to everyone logged in, and then they just go in order to see who can sign up. I lucked out with a very low number, and the spouse ended up with a number around 2800 - which was still ok, we reasoned, since they had 4000 appointments available. we both now have appointments for our 1st shot of Vaccinations tomorrow - at the same site, within a 1/2 hour of each other! (so we can go together to do it). FINALLY. . such a relief to be able to get an appointment (it's been rough, since he's so high risk, and had thus far had terrible luck getting an appointment!).1 point
