Going to Dorney and not Knoebels is a travesty. Please don't do that.4 points

Haha....$299 is for the Kings Dominion-only all-season Fast Lane. The all-park is $875. I added it to my Platinum as soon as they offered it last year after two kinda miserable trips to both CP and KI without it, and then got 3 days at each park with it. For me, that paid for itself. The fact that its valid all this year too is just icing on the cake. If you go to the parks enough it's doesn't work out that bad math-wise. Figure $150 a day at CP, $75-95 a day at KI or KD...you really only need like 7 days (or 5 to CP) to make it worthwhile. I've reached the point in my life where waiting with the public more than 15 minutes makes me want to blow my brains out, so it's completely invaluable to me.2 points

^ The Platinum Pass FastLane Add On is $850, so it's a little pricier than the $299. I bought mine from Canada's Wonderlands site and that way you get the Canadian conversion rate (something like $675 instead). I plan on visiting CP and KI multiple times this season, plus make a trip to Carowinds, so I am looking forward to having FastLane already paid for. I am actually selfishly hoping that CP doesn't offer it to the GP this season. Everything would be a walk on as there were very few people with season long FastLane last year. I told a friend of mine that I had spent $800+ on a Platinum Pass and FL and was roundly laughed at. We'll see who's laughing when I walk past them in the Steel Vengeance line and get on twice before they even move.2 points

Everyone in SoCal (and the rest of the country) had the same opportunity to travel to parks that weren't shutdown as anyone else. I don't think Newsom was exiling those who left the state (but it wouldn't surprise me if he was). Skimming back through the past few pages here didn't give me the impression that there were "serious doubts"...Six Flags is owning pandemic operations everywhere else, there's no reason to imagine it would be different there. The only doom and gloom came from Californians, who, pardon my stereotyping, tend to have somewhat of a "we're special compared to everyone else" attitude. EDIT: Look, I'm not trying to be argumentative. I just think that Californians are making a much bigger deal out of this than they should. The companies figured out how to operate in a pandemic last summer, there's no new special magic that needed to be applied here.2 points

They would explain it the same way every other park that does hard-ticket after-hours events explains them.2 points

Rented a car. in MY case. . .since going for Coasterstock - really wont' be doing anything in Cincinnati other than driving thru it to get to Kings Island tho the car will allow me to stop on the way there from Airport on Thursday to grab something local for dinner. . so that's a plus.1 point

The choice is between end of August this year or flexible date next year. Based on the advice so far it looks like we will have to wait for next year. We don't normally wait for more than an hour to ride something so it sounds like fast track is going to be essential for our trip. I'm not sure when schools are out in the US but I'm guessing if I catch the beginning of the season. Say in June, I should be OK?1 point

The trip is in 2022 if I'm understanding correctly. They will have Fastlane.1 point

Weekdays in July and August, if anything like last year, should be manageable. I think the longest I waited for anything at KI was an hour for Beast.1 point

Fast Lane passes are not being sold on a daily basis yet; its possible that they won't all year. Right now you can buy an all-season, all-park Fast Lane for all Cedar Fair parks through one of the sites that are selling them (that will be valid at Cedar Point), but as I mentioned it's super pricey. Two days at CP, especially weekends, are advised even with Fast Lane plus...there's just that much to do. Many major rides do not drop you right in the station either (Millennium Force and Raptor are the biggest offenders), so you might still have 15-30 minutes from the "merge" point. Steel Vengeance, at its height before COVID, got 45 minute Fast Lane waits and it DOES drop you in the station. Going on a Saturday and Sunday without a Fast Lane....you might have to skip out on some things. If the decision really is a "this year OR next year" and not a "this year AND next year" thing, I'd say you should wait for next year.1 point

Kenobels is incredible.. and not to be missed. it's also free to park, free to enter, and the food is inexpensive and very good.1 point

Ah good to know, thanks! Hmmm so thats added to my platinum pass? aka I get the fast lane for use at ANY of the Cedar Fair parks? If so....$299 is hefty but to use it for 4 or more parks not a bad deal tbh1 point

KI's Fast Lane has said "on sale soon" pretty much since they closed last season. The only guaranteed way to get it right now is to add the All-Season, All-Park Fast Lane Plus to a Platinum Pass using one of the sites that's offering it (such as KD).1 point

Today it was a sunny, but cold and windy Easter Monday and I hade time to pas by Liseberg for some updates. Not a full "little planet"-montage due to high winds.. The hotel construction is full steam ahead and the prepwork for water land och parking garage is going fine. /// Marcus And now something really exiting, Liseberg had Helix and Valkyria out for preseason warm up Going down..... I also purchased my ticket, interesting to see how crowded it will be given that it still hasn't sold out to my knowledge.1 point

Coasterstock tix sold out in 15 minutes. Coastermania at C.P. are still available after being on sale for over 1 hour. What is this telling us???1 point

The last couple of days i've been thinking about how to post new updates to this topic over the next couple of weeks/months. Here's my idea.. i'll just do a memory lane trip. Basically post pictures from all my TPR related travels, chronical order and favorite images. This could be one update from a small park.. or multiple updates from bigger parks. Maybe even a crazy amount of images from a single ride. It all depends on how you guys react to this. Let me know if you like the idea (or not) and keep posting comments. The more reactions i'm getting, the more motivated i'll be to keep posting pictures. To start this off. First Themepark i visited with TPR was back in 07 (time flies) The park was Klotten. Home to all kinds of playground areas (fun for kids and adults) and a crazy mouse like coaster (forgot the name and too lazy to look it up) felt like a perfect introduction to the fun TPR is.1 point

Near-perfect weather on a holiday weekend early in the season when the park is always severely understaffed and the experience was sub-par? I for one am shocked.1 point

I don't think anyone is surprised. In fact, I think the general consensus is this is still a very impressive start for Magic Mountain. Things could have gone significantly worse.1 point

So, basically SFMM is currently like CP/KI/Hershey/SFGAdv/<insert major US park of your choice> last summer. Why are people surprised?1 point

Booked! I ended up using my Southwest credits for everything. Flying into Louisville on Thursday, doing Kentucky Kingdom, then driving to KI for Coasterstock.1 point

^^This is America, rent a car. Our public transportation system isn't quite up to the task! If you want a break during the day, want to go try a nearby restaurant, do things on your own schedule you'll want a car.1 point

Go for it. It's CP...how can you not think it's worth it? And if by "(possibly) overhyped RMC" you mean S V first, to my surprise it meets the hype. Second, even if it doesn't...it's Cedar Point lol It's always worth it. KI is a great park. Again why worry so much about one ride? It's a wonderful park, I actually feared it would be overhyped but I really enjoyed it. Can't let big parks be possibly thought out of because of 2 specific rides. Edit: Bill is right, if you're going summer though, fastpass required. I mean I just used rental car. I go for the most affordable/basic kind and its not far at all from the airport to KI so it wasn't too bad. Guess it depends on your overall plan though. If it wont move for 3 days that is a lot of wasted cost. Full disclosure: I know nada of the area so other means of transport you gotta research. Or uber/lyft? IDK but again Ive never used it for something like 40 miles apart.1 point

Amazing video as always, thanks for sharing. How slick do those trains look in black?! Great to see seven car trains too, I did wonder whether they'd be six car. I also really like the profiling on the first drop. The twist looks really snappy and kind at bit of an unnatural angle half way down so I hope that converts into some interesting forces.1 point

Lots of footage of Monster testing including two complete circuits at the end of the video for those who are interested in pacing and transitions between the elements.1 point

Mission accomplished. Had to play around on the tester to figure it out. Basically I have to kind of tilt my head back to get my head into the restraint and then it would go into place easily. Thanks to everyone who encouraged me to try again! Will some more thoughts to share later. Going to go enjoy my last few hours in San Antonio. Going to miss ZDT’s but got to ride WW and IRat.1 point

Oh I know this park runs coasters in conditions many wouldn't. I've seen Bill there talking about riding Nitro at times that makes me fear for his sanity XD So interesting, I mean the rides are ofc good but man...for most of my life I've hated the actual park lol and was always going downhill. Like it got to the point it was purely to ride a few rides but I loathed going. Esp knowing the type of parks you tend to like and feelings on others, this park always felt so half assed and dumpy at times, just with caliber rides. In fairness, it's been like 7 years now. Perhaps things have changed. I really should go again. Closely watching to see when Toro opens back up, deff will take a week day off and go asap. I reckon the crowds on an april weekday will be dead, as seems to be confirmed.1 point

^ When I went in 2017, you had to have either a one day admission to the park, or a passholder pass .... and then you paid for the event. I didn't have a pass so I paid more for the event. But I expected that. So they probably will handle it the same way. When they post everything for it, you'll be able to see for yourself. Here's the link to it: https://www.cedarpoint.com/events/coastermania And have an awesome time there! And as Bert would (probably) suggest..... DO NOT FORGET TO RIDE CEDAR DOWNS! See? Bert really lovvves Cedar Downs! June 05-2017.1 point
