  1. Swung by the park for a few hours to see how things would be in the covid world, and I have to say that magic mountain did a pretty good job. For those wondering, it appears the only checks for residency occur during the online reservation process. At the turnstile I was only asked to show my reservation (note on that: I wish they would update their system on the backend to tie the reservation to your pass so you didn’t have to show the reservation and then take out your pass for scanning). The parking attendant asked me for my reservation time (which was 3pm and I arrived at 4), so it appears they are allowing arrivals after your slated time. Since I didnt arrive until 4, so I wasn’t going to chance a long wait for any of the headliner coasters taking all my time to do a lap, but I was able to get on justice league and revolution with about 10-15 min waits at each. mask enforcement was great, hand sanitizer was readily available, signage was everywhere, more security has been added, and they were following all the LA county guidelines down to even having the ride ops checking lapbars wear masks and googles for extra protection from being in close contact with guests. They are running multiple trains on the coasters, but only loading every other row. So yes, I would recommend flash pass as the only way to ensure you can hit every ride. Now onto the photos to tell the story... With the vaccine site remaining open, you will probably be parked in the overflow lot. But good for six flags for working with the county to keep the vaccine site open! There is no shortage of signage with all the safety rules starting from the walk to the park (shuttle is closed). Also of note, since it usually drives me crazy: all the trash cans on the walk in were clean in empty. Always hate seeing those gross, since it’s such a bad first impression. like all other SF parks, to enter you first go through the thermal camera screening and then the touchless security check. These should make the typically horrible entry lines go away for good when things are back to normal. Love that six flags is leading the way for this much needed technology upgrade for the whole industry. presumably with crowds limited both for park attendance and indoor dining in LA county, we won’t be seeing the sports bar opening any time soon. However, most other dining locations did reopen with mobile ordering and designated outdoor dining areas. It didn’t appear Six Flags was ready for the high demand of the food (presumably since so many passholders have dining plans). Hope they will adjust now that they have some real world data. Ride closures were better than I expected. Most flat rides were open, with crazanity being the notable one being closed (others were the bumper cars and the chair swings). Both water rides were closed, as was ninja. Hopefully with spring weather here, they can at least get jet stream back up since the boats will create natural social distancing and allow full capacity loading. In order to open justice league, the preshow was disabled to move people directly into the loading room, where groups were socially distanced and loaded one per car. Great way to meet the LA county indoor ride time guideline of 15 min. Some examples of how they are doing social distancing to get rides open. nothing visible going on with the potential new coaster site yet. Security with the bright yellow shirts were very visible in the park and doing a good job asking people to put their masks on.

  2. ^ That's awesome, that you've come upon a song that gets you, understands you, and totally reps you too! I'm still looking for mine, lol. Good going! EDIT to add: Actually my current Go-To song is "Hasa Diga Eebowai" from the Broadway musical "Book of Mormon". And I shall not translate it, kiddies. Go check it out for yourself.

  6. Just left SeaWorld. My first time at SeaWorld San Antonio. I go to SeaWorld San Diego pretty often since they give teachers free passes every year. Lots of people today but I think most were there for the first day of the 7 Seas Food Festival. Texas Stingray was a walk on. Got a few rides on it. Great White was also a walk on but just did it once since I rode Goliath yesterday. Definitely not as forceful, but not too rough. That leaves Batman at SFOT as the only Batman clone in Texas I haven’t rode. Steel Eel should have been a walk on, but they only had one grouper. This person had to lead people to each row since they are no longer numbered, deal with Quick Queue and special assistance, measure the height of all kids, and send people with backpacks to lockers. They were only running one train and at least one car would be empty each time. Waited about 15-20 minutes since I got in line when the line was short. By the time I rode the queue in the station was about half full. Used my one time use Quick Queue on Wave Breaker to skip a 20-30 minute line. Saw the penguins and that was about it. Some of the food booths have not opened yet. On my way to Fiesta Texas now.

  8. It sure has been a while. Covid has messed up lots of plans, lots of potential coaster trips. Hoping to ride some coasters later this year, and maybe check out some new stuff as well. Anyway, might as well try and post some more "old" stuff and maybe bring this topic back to life. Here are some Gold Rush opening day pictures. These are from 2017 (time sure flies)

  9. This song is 100% written for me. A little emo, a little punk, a little political, and all over a bouncy rhythm with big band samples. It's like, AJR, have you been spying on me?

  11. Conneaut says they intend to keep the The Devil's Den, Carousel, Blue Streak, and closest to my heart, the Tumble Bug, though it will be closed this season for refurb. Sounds like the right track to me!

  12. How much time and money did they throw at this joke (turn on subtitles)? I find it interesting that the Efteling YouTube channel has nearly 200k subscribers!

  13. You really can't think of anything going on in the world right now that might explain the hold up? Not one thing?

  15. Back row. That way, she'll never want to ride another roller coaster again and you can save money by leaving her at home.

  16. Source I really like this idea. My wife and I have always wanted to try a cruise mainly to relax and for the food. Feels almost like a starter pack for people who aren't too sure about the cost of doing a cruise would be a great cheap alternative for us to do a very short 2 days before deciding if we really want to experience one of the longer packages once corona is over.

  17. If you read this thread during Holiday in the Park, you know Great Adventure will run their coasters in conditions hardly any other parks would. A few days ago, I got to the area early and decided to wait over by Prospertown Lake, which has a fantastic view of the park. Considering it was in the mid-40s with 30-40 mph wind gusts, I wasn't holding my breath I'd see anything running. I was wrong. Great Adventure confidently sent Nitro's trains completely empty. And I have never seen a B&M hyper come that close to valleying. It reminded me of that crazy hill on Arkansas Twister at Magic Springs that takes 7-8 seconds to clear. The ride opened an hour late and I made sure to be on one of the first trains. The mid-course trim was disabled and the return run gave far wilder airtime than usual. 357055588_NitroMiddle(Far).MP4 1893226511_Nitro1stHalf(Far).MP4

  18. We will have to wait and see. There's no reason to get lax about social distancing and wearing masks now when a possible 4th wave is around the corner. We should be even more vigilant now, even though we are all tired of the mandates. They are there for a reason and until we get heard immunity, if we ever do, then I expect the mandates will remain in effect to prevent employees and guests from getting Covid while at the parks. I don't see why Kings Island would not be doing the same protocols as last year since most Americans still have not been vaccinated. I also think being outdoors helps, but distancing is still possible and should be followed. You don't get on the rides any quicker by standing close together, so what is the harm in spreading out some for everyone's safety? It's common sense. 21. I'm not used to saying "The problem with this ride in it's prior location was poor maintenance but Indiana Beach will take much better care of it" Also, this Quimera thing is so crazy that nobody has mentioned that they're naming a ride "Polyp" yet.

  22. Hey, who'd have thought that the friggin' crow of all things would be more masked up than the patrons and employees?
