  1. You really can't think of anything going on in the world right now that might explain the hold up? Not one thing?

  2. I've seen reports that most everything is up and running on 2 train ops. Well done MM.

  4. If you read this thread during Holiday in the Park, you know Great Adventure will run their coasters in conditions hardly any other parks would. A few days ago, I got to the area early and decided to wait over by Prospertown Lake, which has a fantastic view of the park. Considering it was in the mid-40s with 30-40 mph wind gusts, I wasn't holding my breath I'd see anything running. I was wrong. Great Adventure confidently sent Nitro's trains completely empty. And I have never seen a B&M hyper come that close to valleying. It reminded me of that crazy hill on Arkansas Twister at Magic Springs that takes 7-8 seconds to clear. The ride opened an hour late and I made sure to be on one of the first trains. The mid-course trim was disabled and the return run gave far wilder airtime than usual. 357055588_NitroMiddle(Far).MP4 1893226511_Nitro1stHalf(Far).MP4

  5. I think I could have made it happen if I pushed hard enough. Ride op was pushing hard, trying to make it work which I appreciated a lot. But it was already so uncomfortable I could only imagine how banged up I would get on the actual ride. Shoulder restraints hit the back of my head when I try to pull them down; have to kind of snake my way into them. Maybe I just haven’t been paying attention, but never heard of raptors being fluffy/tall unfriendly before. Love how beautiful this park is and have loved the city of San Antonio so far. Love all the 90s music they play here! Going to come back tomorrow and try to get on IRat. Park has pretty much emptied out. Surprised they have so many bands playing. They’re attracting less than a dozen people per show. Seems like they could have used that money to open 1 or two more rides. Got on Superman, Goliath, Pirates, Road Runner, and the train. Didn’t fit on WW and didn’t want to do Pandemonium solo. No other coasters open (didn’t check the kiddie coaster). Road Runner ride op said this is the slowest she’s ever seen on that ride. Bit of a disappointment, but will try again tomorrow.

  7. How much time and money did they throw at this joke (turn on subtitles)? I find it interesting that the Efteling YouTube channel has nearly 200k subscribers!

  9. ^Thank you for reminding me that this existed. I love the music from the original animated film and I am also hoping that it can be revived and brought across the pond. I NEED to see the Plagues done live.

  10. It's funny that's the reason I'm going the 1st. It will be very interesting to see how things go...I have pretty good hopes that things will run smoothly but I expect slow operations and some unexpected breakdowns. Tomorrow might be my best shot to get stuck on something lol. Got stuck on Lex Luthor last time I went four years ago and that pretty cool albeit a bit terrifying.

  11. ^ Hope the after effects are minimal for you. David has his (finally) 1st shot scheduled for early April, Yay! I should be getting my 1st, a week or so after him. A "Burger Blast From The Past" circa 2020.... The Everything Burger! ... Discuss.

  12. Not sure if this is news or not but I passed by the park today on a run and California Screamin' was running test runs using what seemed like all trains. I've been passing for weeks now and it's the first time I have seen it go. EDIT: Incredicoaster*

  13. ^ LOL! Now which theme park was this taken, at? Thanks, Bert. I was trying to be more, uh...."low key" this time 'round, what with Covid all last year, etc. So I brought up the B-Day in other threads, heh.

  16. This actually reminds me of Buzzsaw Falls/Powder Keg at SDC. Most of the GP don't pay attention to know, but there's an old Buzzsaw Falls car wedged in the roof of the queue building and parts of the old track is reused for theming, most notably the "broken" rollback hill and the pieces of track littering the area around the launch. I can definitely see them following suit here since they are both Hershend parks and they like to theme their rides pretty well.

  17. I'll definitely second Drake's! The food is totally delicious (and my face is on all the promos). Bardstown Road is also full of fun bars and restaurants. Hammerheads comes to mind.

  18. Six Flags is probably not going to enforce any COVID policies whatsoever including this one. They put markers on the ground, “Do the Six” signs all over the place and rules on the website to trick the state into thinking that they’ll care. They might sort-of care at first since they’ll be the only park open and the news will probably be foaming at the mouth looking for a viral photo of a crowd but once Disney opens and people stop paying attention to them it will be the Wild West, it may even happen sooner... That said, please follow all state and local rules.

  19. The idea of you waiting out a tornado in a porta-potty makes me really, really happy. Also, Balder in a Box would be the best roller coaster in the world. Just sayin'.

  22. Monday, July 4, 2016 Liseberg: The Kanonen Era Jumping back in time a few years... Liseberg was the last park I visited on my first European trip in 2016. It wasn't officially a part of the TPR trip, which ended in Stockholm, but several people made the journey over to Gothenburg after the trip had ended. A few went on Sunday the 3rd, but I went on the 4th, meeting up with Joe S for some late-night rides on Helix to close out the park. As I mentioned in the main TR for the 2019 visit, the park's two premier coasters were running quite differently on both of my visits. While Balder was kind of slow in 2016, it was much more fun in 2019. And while Helix was having a bad day in 2019, it was running like dynamite in 2016, quickly becoming one of my very favorite coasters. This isn't a full TR of my 2016 visit, but I wanted to share some pictures of things I didn't really cover before. That includes more views of Helix, which wasn't running consistently enough for me to get very many pictures in 2019. Oh, and there's the whole Kanonen angle, too -- the moved-to-Iowa Intamin launcher that was replaced by Valkyria. Liseberg! It's shiny! AtmosFear ran for more than one cycle in 2016. And it was good! AeroSpin in action -- a ride I failed to photograph in 2019. I did ride it on both trips, and was quite dizzy when I was done. I did not ride the big wheel in 2019, but I did in 2016, so here are a few pictures from up high. This one is looking roughly north toward central Gothenburg, with the Lorensberg district in the foreground. Liseberg's main entrance. A view of the park, through slightly-difficult glass. Oh, Kanonen isn't the only ride that was removed between 2016 and 2019. Say a fond goodbye to Sagoslottet, the park's old fairy tale castle dark ride. Sagoslottet had some Peter Pan-esque ride vehicles. The pot-bellied emperor with no clothes is pretty much all anyone remembers from this ride, so that's all I'm gonna post of it. Here's the Lisebergbanan station pre-renovation. I never made it over to the far eastern section of the park in 2019, but there are some cool buildings, and one very nice boat. There's also a dance hall! Oh, and a departed Intamin launcher. Hello, Kanonen. Am I going to be drawn and quartered if I say that I liked Kanonen, but didn't love Kanonen? It's a really fun ride, it's just rather short as far as Intamin launchers go. With that said, it'll surely be the best roller coaster in Iowa! Airtime on the top hat! A Kanonen inversion, with a nice background of Balder supports. In 2019, I got to see the musician Hurula perform at Liseberg's main stage. In 2016, they were doing their normal Monday evening show Lotta på Liseberg -- starring Swedish entertainer Lotta Engberg. That's Lotta on the microphone in the middle. This was from the afternoon rehearsal. Liseberg's rapids ride is called Kållerado. I found that it was making rainbows. It's very colorful. Some views from the top of the hill -- here's Lisebergbanan with the old trains, and Balder running behind. Balder and Kanonen, together once upon a time. A Kanonen loop, and Balder sneaks in. This view is very, very different now. As promised, some Helix photos, since I had so few in the 2019 TR. Helix drops out of the station. You'll get some air if you're near the back of the train. A view from below of Helix's first drop. The Gothia Towers make a nice backdrop for Helix. Another example of the same. It's almost free advertising. So much excitement and upside-down-ness. Reactions on the launch track. Soarin' over Gothenburg. Another view from the top of the hill. Say hi to Lotta! So many inversions, and I can't remember which one this is. Flipping back around. Diving into the next element. Airtime on the return leg. With the right lighting, you can make a ton out of the scenery from the top of the Liseberg hill. Dramatic cloud picture! Going up? Over the highway. Train #2 gives me a near-perfect shot of an awesome ride. It should be obvious from several of these pictures, but, it was kind of a chilly day in 2016. Spiraling into the brake run. Well, that's a reaction. Almost had a Fabio moment here. Hitting the brakes at the end of the ride. Lisabanana makes an appearance over there. Great view of the wheel from the Helix brake run! Didn't post much from Mechanica last time so here's the ride sign. This is a strange-looking ride. It's also a strange-looking ride experience. Balder: 2016 edition. Lots of hairtime on those first couple hills, even in the cooler weather in 2016. Blue train! Red train! It took me a very long time to get this picture but it was worth it because now it's impossible to ever get again. Balder and Kanonen, at their highest points. That evening, Lotta på Liseberg drew a packed house. That's a lot of daisies. Helix is so good at night -- even the queue is awesome. It's very green. One more Helix shot -- with some sunset shadows on the brake run. That's two fun visits to Liseberg, and hopefully more to come some day in the future.

  23. Speaking of Batwing, the crew working that ride was incredible. They were averaging 30-60 second dispatches (as long as the ride didn't go down, which was beyond their control). That's amazing for any ride, let alone that one. Especially since it usually has dispatches in the 5-10 minute range. The operations at Six Flags America were way better than usual. I'm convinced they kidnapped a Cedar Fair staff.

  24. I prefer this much more. It is a right size expansion for the CA market. A 3rd park not fully connected to the resorts infrastructure and enclosed within the resort bubble would be a horrible investment.

  25. I'm not sure what will happen of this but I'm all for expanding Disneyland and DCA, and adding more shops, restaurants, hotels and experiences. I would love to see a Disney water park on the West Coast, like a cross between Blizzard Beach and Volcano Bay but with its own theme, and it could fit easily on that Toy Story parking lot plot of land.

  27. Rough day so far. Poltergeist and IRat not operating. Most flats closed. I also apparently don’t fit on Wonder Woman. Was a little surprised. I’ve never not fit on a ride before. I would say I have about the same body shape as Robb Alvey and am smaller than a lot of the people I’ve seen ride on YouTube. I fit in the seat, but the restraint won’t go down low enough for the center seat belt to clip. I’m 6’1 which I don’t think is uncommonly tall. Currently in the station for Superman. Ride is down.
