    • This is a very Cedar fairs name change. Chupacabra is a more known name they do love random myologically creatures that known has heard of till they name a coaster after it.  Goliath was just to simple
    • It’s sad the way BGT and SWO have been run in the past few years and how they are currently run. The only thing they care about are the quarterly profit results. Yes they are a business and need to make money but the damage done to the brand and reputation is going to hurt them in the long run. Both parks have so much potential and yet they are operated with little care for the guest experience from the moment you get through the parking toll.
    • yup. .they officially just announced it tho give Rattler credit too - they said they thought it was a renaming. here are more details from the park's official site: https://www.sixflags.com/fiestatexas/welcome-the-fearsome-chupacabra?fbclid=IwY2xjawHJWX9leHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHTKre58EwF4KH4Ii25QLE1DMMXygb0QGKuBLRPZnBpIlBokAtg1Qcrexzg_aem_DAUSHjIeXWDmxk9SUdP47Q   including new ride logo:
    • Bert called it. Chupacabra, coming to SFFT next year:
    • I will be going on the 19th hopefully its not to busy then.
    • Pic's from last Saturday's "Feliz Fiesta" event at the park. it was cold, it was drizzly, but still had an amazing time. . . forgot to take a pic coming in, so instead got one on the way out. the park looks amazing.    and as noted, even with the day's conditions, we had a great time doing shows and looking at the lights (tho SOMEHOW, I never made it over to Santa!! - by the time I remembered, he was shut down for the night.   oh well, have to go back ) hanging around at the front gates, greeting folks as they arrived?  Park President Jeffery Siebert and a version of Abominable over in Spassburg. the new entrance sign for the DC Universe. it truly looks amazing, and it lights up at night!   (Kid Flash is over there on the right, and I noticed a Dipping Dots stand has moved over slightly, to kinda block the entrance queue from sight a bit more. . . yeah the ride isn't operating at all.    tho Jefferey DID tell us they are still looking at options, and hope to have some plan to get the ride up and going regularly again if they are able to). the new Cyborg Nebulaz looks almost ready to go! both trains are on the tracks, but this is just for looks at the moment, as the station is still in process of being built.   But the tracks are complete for the Metropolis Transit Authority. Poison Ivy is also up and running. and it looked like Batgirl was close, but maybe not operating as they are still working on Penguin (who's tracks go underneath the Batgirl coaster) one of the rides that was operating on this really chilly/wet morning?   Joker.. so we headed there first. and then over to eat something at Sangerfest Hall. and if you know me?  not really a trip to SFFT without a stop to take a pic with Sweet Connie. after food, and looking at the show schedule, Jim and I decided to take in the Looney Tunes Christmas show (the Tin Soldiers were cancelled as the ground was too wet) I mean. . it's a show for kids, but was still adorable. and Taz in his nightgown (and with lots of fart jokes) had the children laughing, and us smiling. we didn't hang around after the show for the meet and greet, but amusingly, when we walked past the meet and greet area in Spassburg - two of the characters were out anyways. so we stopped on our way to ride Pirates (and meet up with friends) to get a photo with them (tho not in their Chistmas show bedclothes costumes) we met up with our friends in Rockville. . .but before meeting up, I noticed the group of Jingle Elves, and the Christmas Cookies bakery were hanging out under the Rockville High School overhang (to stay out of the drizzle).  so we headed over there first to get some pics, as most of the Jingle Elves performers are regulars in SFFT shows, and I recognized a bunch of them. the Gingerbread Cookie man was a teeny bit creepy! and the Rudolf Cookie looked a bit angry. . LOL but after meeting up, we noticed we were right by Primos (and their Bar - which had the spiked Hot Chocolate options). so we grabbed a table and sat in there for a while drinking Spiked Hot Chocolate.     LOL. . so much they actually ran out and took the sign down offering it (I asked the bartender what happened to the sign and she told me we drank them out of Hot Chocolate).   expensive. . but do note, there are TRUE bartenders at Primos bar - and they free-pour.  so the drinks are gooooood. it was almost time for dinner, and we had to meet at the picnic area. . so we headed that way. but noticed that poor Sylvester was by himself in the meet & greet with no one.. . so we popped in to grab a picture and make us all feel better. (and you can tell from the smiles, we were feeling the spiked hot chocolate) no pics from dinner. . . not sure why, as that's very unlike me. but from the picnic, we got to go backstage to get to the tree lighting in front of Rockville High. passing the Superman train #3 undergoing renovations. Poltergeist really does look so amazing at night - and from the backstage area. the Tree Lighting Ceremony at Rockville. that's Santa way up there on the roof and the power of Santa Magic (and noise from the crowd) and the tree lights up. (and it starts snowing on the streets of Rockville) oh. .and fireworks too.   after the tree lighting (which was not as crowded as it typically is due to the smaller crowd today thanks to the weather) we headed inside Rockville for the Dickens show. it premiered a couple of years ago, and it's VERY good. . with a really great cast (who also are mostly the cast of the Majesty of Chistmas show). Love the Ghost of Christmas Future - he gives such Iron Maiden's "Eddie" vibes and then a group of friends wandered around taking pics - this one is from slightly earlier in the day, and is from my friend Russell. Jim and I stopped to get a pic in front of the "Singing Saps" show. and then we picked up Cinnamon Bread to take home for later. while Jim and Russell went out to the car to put it away, I took some pics in the main plaza while we waited for the Majesty of Christmas show doors to open. the park really does SUCH an amazing job at decorating for every event they do here. it really was only about this crowded today. . . sadly, it was too cold for many of the "big" rides. . .tho they did keep Iron Rattler, and Dr. Diabolical's Cliffhanger (as well as Boomerang) up and running all day for coasters. theater doors open for the "big" show. oh!  Goliath (as it was still called last Saturday. . let's see what it's called after today) was running all day too. . tho not many takers on it. as noted, mostly the same cast of the Dickens show, but damn do they all have fantastic voices. and the show is so good.   well worth seeing. with live animals too. and suspended Angels. the 3 Kings come down the center aisle. one of them on a Camel. it really is a highly recommended show. afterwards, the cast stayed on stage for us to take a group pic for the organizers of the Feliz Fiesta Event.  (very cool to be on stage with the cast) and then we hopped on the train to go around the park while the train played Christmas Carols. ending up at Crackaxle for end of night rides on Iron Rattler, and Cliffhanger. and by the beautiful Crackaxle tree.   and with that it was time to head home. I felt bad the park wasn't busier, but with the weather I get it. and huge kudos to the whole park - that was fully staffed up, even tho the crowd was light today. can't wait to go back in a couple of weeks.. the NYE fireworks show is 360 surrounding the park! and I have to tell Santa what I want
    • Well they better get it figured out before February 2nd, thats when Im going lol
    • Maybe they are trying to get stuff figured out before  Spring break season.
    • Kumba has been closed for a few weeks now, Montu and Cheetah Hunt are now on the closed rides list: https://buschgardens.com/tampa/park-info/ride-attraction-schedule/ To have 3 major coasters down right as it's about to be the most crowded time of the year is going to be interesting. That leaves a total of 10 rides open in the entire park that aren't kiddie rides. Unfortunately, they aren't adjusting operations to run the open rides at a higher capacity. There could have been more than a few hundred cars in the lot this afternoon yet Sheikra still was close to a 40 minute wait because they were only running 1 train.
    • @Nrthwnd I think you might actualy be right about this being a cello... The short description of the Musical Carousel from KY Kingdom's website says this... "Well Cello there!" Which basically confirms that it is indeed a cello, not an oversized version of a violin like I thought before... My bad 😂
    • A Holiday Stroll Around Christmas Town   Ah, it 's that magical time of year again. The smell of fresh pine trees is in the air, the laughter of happy children is everywhere, and adults are downing copious amounts of holiday grog. Yes, Christmas Town has returned to Williamsburg.  Care to take a stroll with me around the park to takes in the sights of the season?  We start with the walk from the parking lot to the park entrance. Preferred parking, which is included with my membership, was full by the time I got there on Sunday, December 9, around 4:30 pm. I had to park in the outer reaches of the Ireland lot, which offers both tram service and a new path for those who care to hoof it. The tram line was huge, so I took the path.   The walk took about ten minutes, and it gave me another view of this version of Santa. This used to be in Festa Italia (aka Holiday Hills), but it greets drivers as they enter the parking lots this year. Looks like Santa misplaced his reins and harness--or perhaps he's using invisible magic reins to keep his reindeer in line.     The Enchanted Tree with the Big Balls greets you at the entrance to England. It wouldn't be Christmas Town without it.   I've always liked England's traditional wreaths and garlands. On the left is the Globe Theatre, where you can take in BGW's musical version of Dickens's A Christmas Carol--Scrooge No More. It's probably the best of their holiday shows. How can you really go wrong with this Dickens classic? Some of the cast appear as carolers between shows and perform in front of the theatre. And keep an eye open for Father Christmas.   It's always a "Blue Christmas" in the Scottish Highlands. Ireland, of course, stresses the green and gold. The Abbeystone Theatre is the home of Gloria, a show about the birth of Christ using traditional and contemporary music.   Ireland is also where you can partake of Santa's Fireside Feast. This building has hosted a few other attractions over the years. The scrambler (aka Le Catapult) used to be in this building. It's also the former home of the Enchanted Laboratory and Castle O'Sullivan shows. Now it's Santa's buffet away from the North Pole, and Mrs. Claus always makes sure there are plenty of cookies.   I like the path between Ireland and France. The luminaria are a nice touch, it always smell like freshly cut pine trees, and the gypsy wagon looks nice with its festive green lights.   France is also looking very festive.  The Palace Theatre hosts Twas the Night, a figure-skating show, if that's your thing. The Merry Misfits vocal group also performs on a stage next to the ice-cream parlor. Griffon was closed, as were Apollo's Chariot, Pantheon, and Tempesto. All the park's other coasters were operating.   Fort New France (aka Canada) is where you board the Christmas Town Express for a grand circle tour of Busch Gardens and, if you're unlucky, a bunch of people singing off-key carols in your ear for 20 minutes. (This is just one of the hazards of the holiday season.) Still, it's a nice ride and on Quick Queue (seriously, the line for this can get very long on busy days during Christmas Town). They were running two trains last night, so the wait wasn't bad. I didn't get any decent photos of the trip, but I like these wreaths in the New Caribou Station.   Here's Santa's Workshop in Germany--a nice meet-and-greet spot.  The Burgermeister's Hideway speakeasy is running a Christmas-themed program with appropriate Christmas cocktails, but it fills up fast. Let's head to the Festhaus for a brew.     During Howl-o-Scream, the Festhaus is full of fiends, but during Christmas Town it's home of O' Tannenbaum. a synchronized music-and-light show held on the Christmas tree above, and Up on the Haustop, with modern Christmas songs. It also has this cool chandelier and some magical theme-park snow.   Hmm--looks like this Porsche might have crashed in the snow. The tow truck can't get here until spring, so we may as well decorate it.   The view from the bridge between Germany and Italy.   This is my favorite of the park's many Christmas trees.    It also provides a nice backdrop to the freakishly large Santa heads of Holiday Hills (aka Festa Italia).   The large Santa heads and candy canes remind of bit of the Christmas decorations of my hometown in California when I was a kid. Of course, we didn't have a spinning teacup ride, which is probably for the best.   That about says it all. Let's move on to the the Polar Pathway.   There's another synchronized music-and-light show here. They use some 1950s style Christmas music, including some rockabilly stuff.    Never before has a natural disaster looked so festive.   The Sesame Street Forest of Fun celebrates trees of all colors.   Time to head home via blue Scotland . . .   . . . and Merrie Olde England.   Be sure to wish Father Christmas a "Happy Christmas" on your way out.   "Ho, ho, ho! The president of the Claus Organization thanks you for visiting Christmas Town. Go home and continue to make merry!" Thanks for joining me on this stroll through Christmas Town.
