Yay, a theme park! =) Heide looks like a really nice park, I've never really seen much detail of the place...until now! That log flume looks amazing, but then again, I'm a sucker for water rides. Nice update, I'm looking forward for more!

I am so jealous that you got to go to Heide Park (and Germany in general)!

Always excited to read your reports,

Nice shots of Heide. This makes me want to finish my Germany trip report.

Did you get uber-stapled on Collossus? The ops on that ride were shoving their weight into it in May.

^ They weren't shoving their weight into the restraints. But They pushed them down to the point where I was firmly held in by the lapbar.

That log flume looks fantastic! The Intamin Drop Tower in your trip report is something I am not a fan of. They accelerate towards the ground slower than the regular ones, but still fun.

Desert Race does look fantastic though! (And Colossus too!)

Germany June 28 - July 14, 2010

About a month ago I made a two week trip to Germany. I stayed with a friend and his family in the Hannover region and had an amazing time!
You can read my daily blog from the trip right HERE.

Der Autostadt

The Autostadt or "Car City" as it translates to, was something that was on the top of my list of things to do while I was in Germany. Not because I'm a huge fan of cars in general, but because it is the "home turf" of Volkswagen and I love me some German cars. I left early in the morning with Hans and his younger brother Cilas and we hit up the trains. It was about a two hour train ride to Wolfsburg, filled with near misses for trains and crappy card games.
But then we finally got there, and what a cool place it was! The place is basically a large garden like area with different showrooms for the companies that VW owns. Including theaters, restaurants, test tracks, shops, and other interesting things. Not to mention the crazy playground with the "wheel of death". ;]

It was really cool to see some of the cars there in person, especially the ones in the "museum" building.
This is also the last group of photos for my Germany report. It was a great trip and thanks to everyone who has been following these updates!

So car geeks of TPR, enjoy the photos. ;)

Along the walk way to the place, there were a ton of random placed signs. No Idea why they were there... But they were interesting.

The whole area was really well landscaped.

We had a game of kind of the hill... Yes we were stared at by other pedestrians.

The "Euro-Mir" like structures were actually where they held new VW's waiting to be picked up by their owners. For a slightly expensive fee you can take a ride up the tower in a glass box, which would have been pretty cool to do!

In the museum section they had a lot of past cars from various German car companies.

And to think of it... I came so close to getting an old VW type 3 fastback for cheap. It's a shame it wouldn't be reliable enough, they are really great looking cars!

In the true spirit of a German. We spent an hour or more watching a World Cup game in this van. There is nothing like a German and their love for "soccer". :P

If that elevator lift would be at a theme park, that would be one of the sweeting things ever! I still find this place a little neat that it is more of a garden park rather than a regular museum inside a building. Too bad there weren't any Smart Cars!
