About a month ago I made a two week trip to Germany. I stayed with a friend and his family in the Hannover region and had an amazing time!

Goslar Adventures and a German Schützenfest

One of my goals while in Germany was to visit one of those old cities with those "story book" homes and narrow streets. Well, Goslar was one of those cities.

I traveled about 2 1/2 hours to get there traveling along the German countryside. I spent the day there with Hans and basically just explored the city. The architecture was awesome and there was a river that ran right through the middle of the city. Another cool thing is that the city was built to slope in towards the middle. So if there was a fire in medieval days, they would release the dams and water would rush down the streets to put out any fires.

Then as an added bonus there was a Schützenfest going on at the time. So we stopped there so I could get a small taste of German fairs.

The rides there were run absolutely insane. I never knew I could get that dizzy or get ejector air on a Schwarzkopf Monster III! I was kind of bummed that I was not able to go to the fair near where I was staying due to my host not feeling to great that day, but at least I got a good taste of their fairs.

Then we headed more towards the "outskirts" of the town.

This thing was insane! To think that my local park has the same model and they don't even run it fast enough to get your car to spin more than four times usually!

I think Europe fairs have better rides than most of our parks do! The inverted mouse is just all kinds of weird, Devil Rock just looks insane, and I cant even imagine getting airtime on a Monster! I really do have to get to a Europe fair before I die, to experience how rides should be run!

Heide Park

So we started off our day by flying down the autobahn to Soulta... Where, that's right, Heide Park is!

On the web site it says all of the major roller coasters have a maximum height of 1,95m. So when we started off our day we thought that one of the people in the group would not be able to ride much [but apparently he was able to ride everything as long as the restraint closed properly, so it all worked out!].

When we got to the park I could already tell that the park was very nicely landscaped. It also had a very nice theme entrance that looked similar to building you would find in an old village.

As for the park itself. It is very spaced out with a lot of room for expansion. The park also has a love with the green and white color scheme, which is very noticeable on one side of the park .

The park was home to many first for me. My first SLC, Vekoma looper, Intamin Pre-fab, Mack bobsled, and Intamin launch. As well as many flat rides that were in the "Flat ride city" section of the park.

Note Worthy Rides:

Scream: My first ever Intamin 3rd Generation drop tower. I loved how the cart would rotate on your way up, and the giant breeze you got while waiting in the station was awesome! [9/10]

Schweizer Bobbahn: My first ever bobsled coaster. It was a lot of fun, especially the swinging movements in the transitions between the turns. I also liked how long it was as well as the helix in the dark. [8/10]

Limit: One of the first SLC's ever built. Neck pains, weird speed decreases, and a headache... Nuff said! [3/10]

Colossos: Amazing airtime, and the swooping turn-around was really cool but the ride just rode like a rough steel coaster. [8/10]

Desert Race: Awesome launch into a tight banked turn, as well as some great "twisting ejector" airtime! I also really liked the sound track they had playing around the ride area. [10/10]

Big Loop: A surprisingly smooth and enjoyable Vekoma. The only spots of roughness were the entrance to the corkscrew. [6/10]

Grottenblitz: A very fun coaster, even if it is powered. The indoor section and theming was amazing!

Wildwasserbahn II: One of the best flume rides I have ever been on. The station was great and you weaved through a bunch of gardens and arches. There were also scenes set up for the lifts with effects and such. Not to mention the awesome last drop and an approved amount of wetness. [8/10]

Der Autostadt

The Autostadt or "Car City" as it translates to, was something that was on the top of my list of things to do while I was in Germany. Not because I'm a huge fan of cars in general, but because it is the "home turf" of Volkswagen and I love me some German cars. I left early in the morning with Hans and his younger brother Cilas and we hit up the trains. It was about a two hour train ride to Wolfsburg, filled with near misses for trains and crappy card games.

But then we finally got there, and what a cool place it was! The place is basically a large garden like area with different showrooms for the companies that VW owns. Including theaters, restaurants, test tracks, shops, and other interesting things. Not to mention the crazy playground with the "wheel of death". ;]

It was really cool to see some of the cars there in person, especially the ones in the "museum" building.

This is also the last group of photos for my Germany report. It was a great trip and thanks to everyone who has been following these updates!

So car geeks of TPR, enjoy the photos.

Heaven lies ahead!

IMG_1672.jpg.2e9f6bf5f040c8da25eb70d30a6300e8.jpg

Along the walk way to the place, there were a ton of random placed signs. No Idea why they were there... But they were interesting.

IMG_1770.jpg.655733fdb3157cdc9b64295ec39fe889.jpg

The whole area was really well landscaped.

IMG_1771.thumb.jpg.e812277f96c53b1fec632987d96bcd0d.jpg

Euro-Mir anyone? ;]

IMG_1774.jpg.789ae99f50b6de13e6f9c7bc8945434b.jpg

We had a game of kind of the hill... Yes we were stared at by other pedestrians.

IMG_1792.thumb.jpg.0392529bab1315d54b6228a9355ed33b.jpg

The "Euro-Mir" like structures were actually where they held new VW's waiting to be picked up by their owners. For a slightly expensive fee you can take a ride up the tower in a glass box, which would have been pretty cool to do!

IMG_1676.jpg.53afa70b7726d85fed87d42fa51d88ef.jpg

In the museum section they had a lot of past cars from various German car companies.

IMG_1679.jpg.5d74db81923e447430888914db6fc846.jpg

And to think of it... I came so close to getting an old VW type 3 fastback for cheap. It's a shame it wouldn't be reliable enough, they are really great looking cars!

To end the report, I leave you with this photo.

In the true spirit of a German. We spent an hour or more watching a World Cup game in this van. There is nothing like a German and their love for "soccer". :p
