P. 651: Montezooma's Revenge project terminated?

Recommended Posts

I remember when I was there in Sept.2016, shopping in the Marketplace

was like shopping in my own private little Ghost Town, heh. Not very busy at all.

It was fun to discover where the washrooms were, in the Marketplace. They weren't here. Sept.12, 2016.

They were here! Men's washroom on the left, Women's on the right of this 'waterfall'.

yeah, those are the secret bathrooms. but i think the cleanest bathrooms are in panda express since they seemingly constantly clean them.

HangTime is cycling test runs right now with the webcams up! I’ve seen it go a couple times now, in the rain. Looks good.

Interesting that they are showing it already...and in the rain! Testing how it runs in the rain? Might as well now as we don't have many rain days left in the year lol.

Does anyone know when the season passholder bring-a-friend discount days are? I bought a season pass, but haven't had a chance to pick it up at the park yet, and so I'm not able to look them up.

i've had a pass for years and since i've never used a discount day, never paid attention to them. i looked on the app, and online at my passholder page and couldn't find them. i looked through my old emails from knott's. last year they were, April 28 - May 7, August 13, 20, 27, September 1, 2, 3, 4, 9 & 10. i got that from the passholder emails they send out. if there were more, they weren't in the monthly emails. which, btw, only were send from march - august. so, maybe they will be similar days this year, or not. but i couldn't find 2018 info.

Even though testing is in progress, I am a little surprised the park never did a "train reveal" like other Cedar Fair parks did (Railblazer, Twisted Timbers, soon Steel Vengeance). I want to see those seats and lap bars up close!

Same here... although, Knott's Marketing had a lot of other stuff to focus on with the brand new Peanuts season and Boysenberry Festival just around the corner. Maybe they didn't want to overload their marketing and steal the thunder from the other events that are happening first?

I took a peek at the cam last night at about 11 pm and saw that Hang Time was testing repeatedly (more than five times). It looks like it flies through the course surprisingly fast.

You'll notice though that it doesn't seem to be stopping at the top but just rolling down the ramp into the drop. Could be why it's going so fast. Wonder why they are doing that?

I see, thanks! I'll keep an eye out for the emails.

I wonder how much that has an effect on the overall speed of the ride. Once the brake releases, it doesn’t completely fall after that. Part of the train is still in contact with the magnetic system, so part of me thinks whether they completely stop the train or not, the difference in speed is negligible or nonexistent.

I’m happy with the speed it’s running at now. Everything after the overbank/cutback actually looks pretty forceful.

Pretty sure it will work the same way Kärnans freefall works only forwards. The magnetic brakes will slow the train down, then the holding brake will hold the train while the magnets retract and it will then freefall down the drop

When they begin to test coasters usually they just want them to make it all the way through the circuit, break in the bearings and wheels, and pick up some of the required ride cycle testing time. Also it's to make sure if the brakes at the top suddenly don't work, can the train handle the extra forces? Most coasters that are being initially tested go through this and let the train go hog wild.

I expect as the days roll on we will see the train testing as it will when the ride opens.

However, as per any RCE, I would be stoked to take a ride with the way they are running it now lol.
