Gröna Lund Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

So now with this B&M inverter they have relocated the tall and noisy attractions from the old expansion plans to fit within the existing park where the zoning plan already allow for such attractions.

The ride would obviously been much better at the parking lot, but I do find it really hilarious that the bitching neighbors (who freely chose to move next to an amusement park who has been there for soon 150 years...) will end up with the same ride next to them anyway

As for the new expansion plans it's schedule that the public consultation will take part in the first quarter of 2017. I wonder what kind of park this new area will be, perhaps it'll be the new calmer Tyrolen area?

From the little I've heard it's going to be focused on both indoors an outdoors. Pure speculation would be that they are creating a new outside area on top of an indoor area that is digged down into the ground. The basement is too valuable IMO to create a parking garage (besides, almost all of the visitors come without cars nowadays).

I'm certain there already are but are there any other B&M inverts without a vertical loop? I feel like there are and I can't think of any.

I can't think of any either (aside from that weird kids one) but the barrel rolls are some of the best elements on these B&M inverts (aside from the batwing / pretzel loop things) and the fact that it has so many of them is pretty awesome.

It will be interesting to see how many trees and games they have to take out for this. I have faith in Grona Lund though to make it work and keep the nice feel of the park.

It kinda seems like a lot of the area will need to be demolished and rebuilt or significantly altered. Simply because there seems to be a lot of supports going through roofs and such. I Can't wait for them to release more detailed info and art!!!

Wow! 3 Barrel rolls, a short immelmann, and a corkscrew! Looks like a fast and paced ride!

Also, is it just me or does that first barrel roll looks elongated than usual? It looks like it turns 90 degree exaggeratedly and it juts out to the side to the right exaggeratedly, then the 180 degree of the barrel rolls looks flat with a possible downward slope. It may just be the perspective of the photo but if not, then this may be a hell of a barrel roll!

Looking at that layout again, the helix after the corkscrew looks like it will be really intense. I love that first zero-g roll right after the drop. I'm a fan of these small but intense rides! This looks like a winner.

I can't speak for how much landscape/trees will need to go, but it's looking to me that only two buildings will get demolished...the row of games/refreshments opposite Insane's lift, and the bumper car building. The plans do seem to indicate several new buildings in the area where the old games are (not to mention the station which appears to be underground) and an opened-up waterfront area where the bumper cars currently are, perhaps even with an extended boardwalk from the Twister/Wave Swinger area. I'm pretty excited to see how this pans out!

Wow. Grona Lund just continues to impress me. I know they'll find a way to fit in anything, but I was not expecting them to build a B&M. I really gotta get back to Grona Lund when they open this ride cause it looks awesome.

I took a couple of shots of the park, when I returned to it after a few minutes' break at our hotel.

These views are sure going to look different once that new coaster is in place.

Along with the new drop tower, of course.

...Because Gröna Lund doesn't already feel cramped enough as is.

Yes! It's becoming the Spaghetti Bowl* of Theme Parks!

*Everything over and under and around each other?

And that's an AWESOME thing, too! (o:

This will actually beat Blackpool, IMhO, as far as having overlapping

rides and attractions is concerned. And BPB has way more space, too.
