Adventureland Long Island!

Hello All,

Since I have off from work this week, I had the opportunity to have lunch with my mother who works two blocks south of Adventureland, clearly I needed to stop by and grab some pics!

Another shot from just outside the fence!

I have to admit, I wasn't very pleased by the color scheme, and it doesn't really photograph that well, but in person it looks quite nice... Just not sure how long it will stay that vibrant...

Hopefully when the weather stops being so cold we will see more contraction happening soon!

Looks like most, if not all the track and supports have been delivered!

Here we see most of the tallest supports have been put up!

A shot of what I beleve will be the new station and queue area... The park has been vague about its plan

Farmingdale station on the LIRR is the closest, there are usually taxis near by... Shouldn't cost you more than a few bucks to get a ride... Fair warning though, sometimes LIRR is hard if your not on the right line, and it could cause you to have to go all the way to Jamaica Queens to transfer!

With the weather we've been having, and the speed at which their building this thing, I don't really think it will be open by the time you come sadly...

Drove past the park today on my way home. Does not seem like a lot has been going on, but given the fact that we have had multiple days of Stowe the past 2 to 3 weeks, that's not that surprising! Enjoy!

Sorry for my finger! I was driving away and people were judging me...

Turbulence started testing on Saturday. Not my video, just found it on youtube.

Not too spinny in this run but I'm still very excited.

Park has announced May 22nd as opening day for the coaster.

If someone needs help with Long Island Railroad, I can help. I work at the college across the street from Adventureland. School will be out by then, but I plan to come in to work to get some rides in!

Good to see the Hurricane was saved, as it went to Race City in Panama City Beach FL.

Unfortunately this place gets terrible reviews.

I plan to hit all the coasters in NTC the 2nd week of June. According to coasterbill, I should avoid Long Island (and thus Manhattan I assume) on a weekend? Not sure if I'll be driving or parking somewhere and taking trains.

I noticed Adventureland was open last Wednesday, which I thought was odd, so I drove down hoping for light crowds and lots of Turbulence rides. It was my first visit to the park. Unfortunately, I failed to realize schools were out for the day, so the park was quite busy. Traffic, however, was not bad at all.

Neither the Ferris Wheel nor dark ride were open to single riders. The log flume was closed until mid-afternoon, and the family coaster had too long of a line to be worth the wait. Otherwise, I got in all the adult rides. Their Huss Frisbee runs a long, intense program. Actually, all the flats had very generous cycles.

Turbulence is a blast. I enjoyed it so much more than anticipated. The first drop and the first hill afterwards are especially awesome, but the whole course really keeps you smiling. It didn't even feel "too short" even though it is actually over quite quickly.

I'm at Adventureland!

A nice little nook to relax and recharge (your phone and yourself).

Really nice scale Eiffel was a drive-thru for the Antique Cars.

This was the best element on the ride. You don't get anything like this on a Maurer or Gerstlauer spinner, both of which this ride outclasses.

It looks to me like Huss intended those boobies to be fully on display.

Cool flume vehicles.

According to the train conductor, this opened up later in the afternoon, but I had to get on the road by then.

There are a few spots of very nice landscaping.

DSC_0039.jpg.ac2d71a8b344004070ebd076ff4e736f.jpg

Pretty footer facades and safety caps for the bolts.

DSC_0043.jpg.7b5d39996116a4a277dc25a9ccff944a.jpg

I got in two rides, as the wait was over 40min by 1:00. Back row was my preference.

Unusual bolts and nuts look more like rebar than standard threads.

Nerd shot.

It is apparently designed such that evenly loaded cars spin the most. Cannot confirm or deny this.

I think the round cars looks really neat going through the course. Like huge M&M's on a coaster lol.

Arcade was immaculate.

Crowds were out in force, weather was absolutely perfect, low 80's.

I always try to grab a ride on any park's train.

DSC_0073.jpg.db0e9a7b608bb1bb4472b8923800adb7.jpg

Tons of funny statues and details along the route, making for a very entertaining ride.

Their "Dinosaurs Alive"...

I did not.

Pepper and tomato plants were growing. No picking the veggies!

You could get up close and very personal with the track in one section.

Family coaster looked like it was worth a spin, but not with the line onto the midway.

This was pulling into the park as I left.

My main objective for the day was actually to pick up some new furniture from Ikea Paramus, where I spotted this awesome clock display. I <3 IKEA.

Sweet report. Love the makeagifs.

Too bad I don't know you; I was sitting in my office across the street from the park while you were there.

Adventureland is really a nice hidden gem that many enthusiasts ignore, but it's worth a visit. Thanks for the report.

Thanks for the TR. Turbulence seems to be the forgotten new ride of 2015 and it looks like a great ride for its size. I really like the logo.

It's a fun ride for Adventureland (better than the SBF Visa spinners), but no reason for it to be mentioned in the same breathe as new coasters at other parks. Especially since so many spinners were added this year.
