_IntaMAN_
Ah, that's exactly what I was looking for (to know whether it was open or not). I'll be more specific next time Thanks Larry.
JJLehto
I know probably an obvious answer since this is an enthusiast site but: this seems like a smaller park, with some cool coasters, but many smaller ones. Is it worth doing this AND Magic Mountain on WCB? Because I have limited in LA and not sure if I should spend 2 days at parks. So how's the park?? Jew
^Knott's always goes above and beyond in hosting West Coast Bash. I would HIGHLY recommend doing both days of WCB.
RCFreak
I'm digging the move for WCB to September and after last year, I'm much more excited for Knott's this year! I'm really hoping for another tour of the Log Ride to get a better look at the changes and upgrades they are making. I know probably an obvious answer since this is an enthusiast site but:this seems like a smaller park, with some cool coasters, but many smaller ones. Is it worth doing this AND Magic Mountain on WCB? Because I have limited in LA and not sure if I should spend 2 days at parks. So how's the park?? The parks during WCB shine their brightest (still not saying much for SFMM recently...) so if you have plans to hit them both, that is the only time I can say hands down is the time not to miss. However, I will say it depends on your priorities for what you want to see and do in the SoCal area. There's plenty of other things to do in the LA area, and it all depends on your interests. There's still over 8 full months left, make a list of everything you want to even possibly see out here and see where WCB (or more specifically the second day at Knott's) and decide for yourself if you know it'll be a while before you can come back. Thanks guys. Yeah that's it, it will certainly be a while (god knows when) I'd be back so kinda pressured to do much as possible, both parks and other stuff...and get myself to San Fran as well! Guess it's an opportunity I won't get for a long ass time again, and with what you two have said about the great quality of WCB I think I'll deff hit both parks. buckaroo234
i will say at last WCB SFMM disapointed while Knotts shined bright. I ended up dropping the cash for a Season Pass to knotts right there at the park. SFMM was just depressing.
XYZ
KNOTT'S UPDATE 1/26/13!!!! So, I was at Knott's yesterday and took some photos to share of the construction. I forgot to take photos of the Schoolhouse Road construction. Basically, all the old asphalt from the schoolhouse to the glassblower has been taken out and will be replaced by nice, new concrete. We will start this update with Boomerang. Now, you're wondering: WHY DA HECK AM I STARTING WITH BOOMERANG??? Well, Boomerang is getting new paint! Yes, Boomerang's track will be painted green! It's safe to assume it's getting re-painted since a portion of the ride has already been re-painted. The remote control cars probably got removed for Boomerang's re-paint. New support and catwalk paint! (Supports will be re-painted with the same color) Another look at the new paint. Hopefully, Boomerang will get some nice, new Vekoma trains. Since Boomerang is getting re-painted, I would assume that the ride will close for some time very soon. Hopefully, Xcelerator's track will get re-painted. If Xcelerator's track does get re-painted, then Xcelerator & Boomerang's paint will definitely make the Boardwalk look nicer. It's good to see that the 2013 Boardwalk expansion will give some old rides some new life. Riptide is still under re-hab. One of the motors is still waiting to get replaced (or refurbished). I wonder how long this shop's name will last. Now, we take to the sky with the 2013 Boardwalk expansion construction! Most of Coast Rider's footers have been filled in. Some re-bar across the street. CONSTRUCTION! Future site of the two flats. Some dirt and a footer. MORE DIRT AND FOOTERS!! Enthusiasts LOVE footers. The 2013 Boardwalk expansion will look really nice next to a green boomerang. More construction! This is where Surfside Gliders will go. This is where Coast Rider's lift will go. Windseeker! OH MY GOSH! There's actually a worker fixing the ride! Hopefully, it will open soon. I'm gonna shoot you! Update over. Edited January 28, 2013 by XYZ
Wes
^ Nice update....hopefully the whole Boardwalk gets some new paint before the new additions officially open.
cfc
I always though that Boomerang's color scheme was butt ugly, in addition it simply being a painful ride. At least they can address the first problem. It would be a shame to lose a shop name like "Perilous Paraphenalia." (Do items in the store attack you?) XYZ
^ Nice update....hopefully the whole Boardwalk gets some new paint before the new additions officially open. I do hope that Riptide & Xcelerator's track get re-painted. Both rides still have their original paint on.
jray21
Hopefully Xcelerator gets re-painted, with a new color scheme. I wish they were getting something major, but anything is better than Perilous Plunge. I never rode it when I visited because of the cycle times. Intimidator305
I always love it when parks change the color schemes of rides as it is always good to have some change. I can't wait to see Boomerang with the new paint.
Brassinthegrass
Odd... I never noticed that the tops of Boomerangs don't match up.

Koasterking48
WindSeeker is going to be open this Friday This is not 100% for sure. They removed that date from the website, so they could be expecting a later date. Or it could have been a human error
willh51
All those neon-colored paint jobs look especially crappy when they start fading and get dirty. Boomerang definitely needs some new trains. More than any other I've ridden, Knott's version left me unable to brace my head from a side-to-side assault. Hopefully the Boardwalk area will look less pavement-y in the coming months.
Wags
Sorry to hear about Boomerang's new paint, they must be planning on keeping it for a while. I was hoping an El Loco would soon be in that spot. Also would much rather see Xcelerator completely repainted before worrying about Boomerang, it looks awful now. coasterbill
We're going to Knotts for the first time at the end of February and I hope Boomerang is open because I'm a filthy credit whore.
rcdude
It looks like a bit of work has been done since I was there are couple weeks ago. Everything appears to be on schedule for a Memorial Day opening. I'm guessing we'll be seeing vertical construction begin around the end of next month once all the groundwork is complete. It's also good to see that the park is working on Windseeker, and I hope they're able to get it back up as soon as possible. As for Boomerang, that shade of green combined with the yellow-green of the supports is going to make the ride really stand out. I'm not sure how it will look, but hopefully it looks better than the current color combination (I've never been a fan of the purple/green combo). Unfortunately, it looks like Knott's worst major coaster will remain for quite a while. In Boomerang's defense, it's not the worst one out there, but unfortunately it's not one of the better ones either.
disney4me2001
I know I'm going to get a lot of crap for saying this, but I hope Boomerang stays for awhile. Yes, anything would be better than a Vekoma, but the Knott's version of Boomerang was the first Boomerang coaster I went on and it was one of my first looping/inverting coasters in general. So I'd hate to see it go just for sentimental reasons. I remember a day when I rode it probably about 20 times in one day! This was right after Xcelerator was built, and not only was it not open during that trip, but I likely would have chickened out anyway (the launch looked intimidating to me at the time!). Obviously there are a lot of Boomerang coasters out there (including a "new" one that was moved from SFOT to SFSL- still laughing over that! ), but the one at Knott's will always be special to me. Of course, my favorite Boomerang coaster is actually Deja Vu/Goliath- haven't ridden it since it got moved to SFNE, but I did get to ride it a few times while it was still at SFMM! As for the paint job, it'll be weird to see it completely green. I like the current purple and lime green colors, but I do really miss the original blue and teal! Just for fun I think it would be awesome if they had gone with Deja Vu's colors just to throw GPs off- "Hey, didn't this used to be at SFMM? YOLO!" Hopefully it'll get a new train though! Gnome
Many times I ask myself what else would they and could they really put into that space that Boomerang sits on currently? Of course, I think have the original corkscrew ride there would still be cool, but those days have been long shipped off to Idaho.
thrillseeker4552
Boomerang has lots of potential to be a great ride. A new paint job along with new Vekoma trains would actually convince me to ride it rather than pass it like it isn't there. I'm glad Knott's is catering to their classics rather than remove them. Boomerang really is a great ride; it just has a painful, old train. I feel the same about Viper at SFMM. If they could replace old Arrow/Vekoma coasters with newer, more comfortable trains, they really can be amazing rides.
Xmeister
I'm so glad Boomerang is losing that horrible paint job! I myself was actually quite happy with the original blue, and wish they'd go back to that color scheme with the white trains. Not that I've ever loved the ride mind you.
