What is a Liquid Coaster?

Postby Coaster Curt » Wed Apr 18, 2012 11:48 am

Sorry not trying to be stupid here but after seeing a few signatures that state how many wooden/steel/liquid coasters they have been on I got curious as to what a liquid coaster is.

^I'm not entirely positive since I don't use that classification for my own credits, but I think they are just water coasters, like de Vliegende Hollander at Efteling, or Sea World Orlando's Journey to Atlantis.

Either that, or they are log flumes and shoot-the-chutes.

This is a good example of what Premier Rides considers one.

Watched the video of that coaster and it just seems like a launched coaster, why would this be considered a liquid coaster?

I am not sure what video you where watching but is may have been drained. Here is a photo showing the splash down.

That coaster used to be a water coaster, but later had its water portions removed and became a launched coaster. So if you're watching a video of it, you're not imagining things, it is no longer a water coaster.

I think this is would be a better example of what you might be looking for:
