ThrillDude200
So, I haven't done an RCT3 project in nearly a year (my last one was the reboot of Florida Funland, and that had only one post). However, I am going to start this new RCT3 project called Riverside! It is centered around a fictional park in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with multiple flat rides, and one coaster! So, without further ado, here we go! _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________1980 1980 was the first season of operation at Riverside. The park opened on May 9th, 1980. Here are some shots archived from a newspaper on opening day: This was the entrance of the park. It included a giant fountain and a lot of plant life. Once entering, this would be the first ride you would see: the Carousel, which is fun for all ages! Tulips surrounded the ride, making for good scenery! After you get past the entrance, this would be the first area you went through: the Boardwalk! It had no rides, only some benches, but it still made for a great photo op! Then there was this part with 3 rides. It was called the Plaza, and the 3 rides were a Rotor, a tea cup ride named Swirl N' Twirl, and a ferris wheel called Big Wheel, which used to be the icon of the park. After that, you had the midway, which had 2 rides. Doesn't sound like much, but those 2 rides were awesome! The first one was Shipwreck, an Octopus ride themed to...well, a pirate shipwreck! This ride was the best in theming, but... The best ride at the park on opening day was the PTC woodie, Warrior! This coaster was HUGE, and it sure packed a punch back in the 80's! It got to the point where some people called the Midway "Warrior Street", after the coaster. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ So, that's my first post. Later, I will make a 2nd post, but until then, bye! ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Edited March 11, 2018 by ThrillDude200
ThrillDude200
No replies yet? Oh well. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________1981-1982 So, I am going to cover both of these years, because 1981 wasn't that big of a year, but 1982 had 2 rides. So, let's start with 1981. In 1981, a drink stand was added next to the Carousel. This was good for quenching thirst, but it wasn't much. There were also signs added so that people could know which section of the park they were in. They were helpful, but still not enough. People began to complain about the Midway being too small, with only a T-Shirt shop and 2 rides. So...Later in the offseason, construction workers removed the T-Shirt shop and started work on 2 rides in response to the complaints... The first one was Parachuter, an alternative way to see the park. The T-Shirt shop was relocated so that it wouldn't get in the way of the rides. The other one was German Swings, a swing ride in which people would be seated and then swung around! The best part was that it could be enjoyed by both people afraid of coasters and adrenaline junkies! Rotor also got a new coat of paint, with light blue and pink instead of orange and white. So, 1981 was uneventful, but 1982 sure made up for it! Tune in next time, and we will start to cover a newspaper which had a section dedicated to the park! But for now, goodbye! _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

HowieP
As a Grand Rapids, Michigan native myself, I can get behind this park! Good job!
