[RCT2] Warner Bros. Movie World America || September 94'

Recommended Posts

Hi my name is Jake P. I live about 30 minutes out of Hollywood. Warner Bros. Movie World America just opened up a few miles away from the Warner Studios, making it my new home park. I can't wait to show you this brand new park for years to come! After the massive success of WB Movieworld in Australia, they are trying their luck in Hollywood this time. The parks are very similar by the pictures I have seen as well as having some of the same rides. So I hope you enjoy the pictures I took on my first visit. Logo.thumb.jpg.d91672cb9fe7dee269757c5eff343be7.jpg

SCR10.jpg.d9fd692c0dd6db86ee1a9764499f17a1.jpg

After you leave that courtyard area, the rest of the park is on the opposite side of the plaza. The next attraction is the Roxy 3D Theatre. It was really good getting some cool air in the Hollywood sun!

SCR1.jpg.7fa087603e0258c64a3dc92dab109209.jpg

Here we are!

SCR11.jpg.5d985ea3c30abbeb742e11bbfc951921.jpg

Main Street is beautiful! so many different shops and places to eat.

SCR12.jpg.121c9396d7a53d04b206f8f8a1a85615.jpg

right at the end of Main Street is this large open garden area. with views looking out to the Hollywood hills that surround the park.

SCR13.jpg.718d42e14d39eda235070ec2b855fce3.jpg

At the T-junction, if you head right you come to this little Western themed area. Which in fact is home to the icon and main drawcard of the park...

SCR14.jpg.07810591aed373e14826a8ac021d23fb.jpg

I would like to present Stallion Express, The worlds fastest wooden roller coaster. Reaching speed over 67 miles in hour!

SCR15.jpg.328cff10819b7c7bb28e9a18d028ef27.jpg

The coaster sits right at the front of the park, visible to the car park. It is mammoth! The speed you get is insane as well.

SCR16.jpg.df8fe99f2ba44d0630607e353d63a9c9.jpg

Definitely the stand out part of the coaster. Plunge underground then back up into a double up! Pure perfection.

SCR17.jpg.63d52c099dfeb668b0525452ba1df587.jpg

after some more leaps and dips the rides plunges you into this shed where you do a crazy double helix in pitch black darkness, this ride just gets better and better.

SCR18.jpg.58413a814b48c977bb2b0939581a88bb.jpg

After taking on the insanity that is Stallion Express, I headed to the other side of Main Street to Looney Tunes Land.

SCR19.jpg.72fbe322a781880e284924732cc768b8.jpg

The land includes; Buccaneer Bugs (Pirate Ship), Speed Gonzales Taxis (Car ride), Marvin the Martian Space Race (Flying Carpet) and Daffy Duck Dodgems' (Bumper Cars). it is a great little place for the kids to hang out.

SCR2.jpg.1e80db5752a183d0e92feedf2e661986.jpg

The iconic arch way which is also part of Australia's park but I think ours is much more grand.

SCR20.jpg.e6fca6c51943c5fef33a17ce824472ad.jpg

next door to Looney Tunes Land is a construction site, which has been their since opening. Judging by the size of it, I'm thinking we are going to see a new coaster in the future!

SCR3.jpg.929f52027dfd455d464177f9e747e925.jpg

After you walk through the arch you arrive in this plaza. That stage at the back is where they perform the parks main show themed to the roaring 20's. It is really good.

SCR4.jpg.86bdb907efaa84663596af1de8fc5231.jpg

Lets go check out the first two rides!

SCR5.jpg.d28ad532d56bae0bd8fcc4da5065efa7.jpg

First off is Lethal Weapon Pursuit. The queue building is amazingly themed!

SCR6.jpg.ee4ce238200adfaf5fcd956a4731c4c4.jpg

Some of you may know that LWP is actually relocated from Six Flags Great America, it used to be called Tidal Wave. I didn't get to ride there but it is an insanely intense coaster.

SCR7.jpg.a72799339e7298a3679477f724d9b95e.jpg

The head chopper flying through the station is crazy!

SCR8.jpg.d8f27ab2b4c63cc5df1d0828c85f6e81.jpg

after Lethal Weapon we walked next door to Gremlins: The Ride. It is the exact same to the Aussie version, the only difference is the exteriors.

Very nice! I am looking forward to this! I hope you dont ever take out that Lethal Weapon Shuttle Loop it looks very good with the park! Stallion Express makes me think of Old Texas Giant! But what brand or company is that wooden coaster! I think it might be John Pierce that built the Old Rattler at SFFT!

Only a couple weeks left of the year and WBMWAmerica just announced what is going into that construction area! Here is the press release below:

Warner Bros. Movie World America has had a massive first year of operation, but we aren't finished their because we are excited to announce that next year (1993) we will be bringing a brand new roller coaster experience! Police Academy - Stunt Drive will send riders on the wildest ride in Hollywood. The coaster model dubbed the 'Autobahn' by the manafacturer, Giovanola, is the modern take on the traditional Wild Mouse layout. Police Academy - Stunt Drive will have hairpin 180 degree turns, extreme speeds and steep drops. This roller coaster will have the whole family coming back for more!

Here is the logo that was also relieved

This sounds really exciting! I haven't really heard of Giovanola before but they also are constructing a similar ride in Germany as well. I can't wait to see the ride when I go back to Movie World next year!

Here we are, opening day of Police Academy: Stunt Drive! Let me just say how insane this ride is, I was expecting a much more smooth and slower version of a wild mouse but it was the complete opposite. The bigger turns are taken with extreme speed then straight into a pretty steep drop, it was crazy! The coaster is rough but it is suppose to be, i hope when is grows older it doesn't become worse. Anyways lets check out the photos.

SCR21.BMP

Lets head on in! straight to Police Academy.

SCR22.BMP

The bright colours on the turns really make it pop!

SCR23.BMP

SCR25.BMP

SCR26.BMP

The brake run is inside this alleyway which is really cool!

SCR28.BMP

Lets head over to the first area to take a few rides on Lethal Weapon and Gremlins!

SCR30.BMP

I tried to get on ride photos but staff told me to put the camera away.

SCR31.BMP

This is still the most intense coaster in the park!

SCR33.BMP

And that will do us for today! Police Academy is a perfect addition to the park and will be a fan favourite

SCR36.BMP

It is a very fun little ride!

SCR37.BMP

Just the amazing views of the Hollywood hills just make this place perfect!

SCR38.BMP

Lets ride Stallion Express!

SCR39.BMP

SCR40.BMP

The bottom of the first drop gives some extreme G-Forces!

SCR41.BMP

SCR41.BMP

Before we leave the West, lets stop and have some Chicken.

SCR44.BMP

Of course I had to stop and ride Police Academy Coaster! The line was so long but worth it.

SCR45.BMP

PA Coaster feels out of control! Definitely a great addition.

SCR46.BMP

Hey guys! I reader sent in some photos of a new construction site that starts right between Police Academy and Looney Tunes land. Then the dirt continues all the way down the narrow path into a large site. I wouldn't think it would be another new coaster, It is a very large plot of land. Maybe a dark ride or a whole new precinct? But then I also got my hands on the parks new map which has the area blurred out with the words "Coming Soon" over it and at the bottom it shows the Batman logo!?!?!! We are getting something themed to Batman!

Hey guys, I just came back from the Media Day for Batman: The Crimewave, My very first time being part of the "media"! Movie World were really great this morning with the guests. But lets talk B:TC, was a cool ride! I wouldn't call it thrilling but a really spot-on family attraction. The ride is exceptionally themed from the actually ride itself to the queue to the exterior. The whole Gotham City precinct is complete (another 2 year expansion till it is done) but what the have now really blew me out of the water. The attention to detail in the buildings are amazing, which really separates this Batman attraction from Six Flags Magic Mountain's coaster. The park also gave the media the opportunity to go into the construction site of the phase 2 of Gotham! They said it is the largest in terms of construction out of the three years. I also got some great photos as well!

I have a description of what happens inside of Batman: The Crimewave if you want to give it a read but excuse my grammar, it has been a very long day.

Queue: The queue starts when riders enter through Gotham City Hall, inside it is all been abandoned. TV's still are on with the news talking about the Arkham Asylum escape is the biggest to date. The queue goes through the hallways of the city hall. Then one cycle amount of riders will move into the secret bat cave where batman is on the screen. This preshow explains that there is a major crimewave right now in the city, and Batman needs our help. The video proceeds to talk about the safety guidelines. Then the doors open up and riders sit down in the ride vehicle.

Ride: The entire ride is surrounded by city buildings. Once the riders are ready the lights flicker off and the music turns up. A light shows Cat woman on top of one of the buildings looking at riders. Cat woman says, "Well well well, look what we have here. Batman has sent others to do his work, he's too scared to face me hahaha! Well then let's get this fun started!" Then the ride starts to move with just the lights in the windows on. Once the ride gets to a 90 degree swing. The penguin lights up and says "When it comes down to it, who's holding the umbrella?" Then a gunshot is heard and a burst of flames shoots up on the other side of the building. He then proceeds to say "I believe the word you're looking for is "Aaahh"!" Then he returns to the darkness. The music builds as the ride progresses to swing high and higher into 2 inversions. After the second rotation the ride pauses upside down. Mr. Freeze is on top of a roof next to a cannon. He says "It's a little hot tonight, let me cool it down for you." Then big blasts of smoke come out of the canon and the corners of the building to get everyone on the ride. Then the ride does 3 full rotations the other way. During these rotations, words such as HaHaHa! And question marks light up with sounds like "Riddle me this!", "Who is the Joker now!". Then the ride starts to slow down to a stop. Lights show batman holding Cat woman, he talks to the riders asking if they are okay and thanking them for their help. The ride then stops as the Batman theme is played and these walls rise hiding the AA characters from sight.

He is a rough idea of the rides layout

SCR57.BMP

Very quiet morning before park open.

Media.thumb.jpg.dc43c0b45e09a30ff390354b4b2a9df5.jpg

I collected my Media pass and headed off to the ride.

SCR60.BMP

Welcome to Gotham City!

SCR61.BMP

The detail is amazing!

SCR62.BMP

Inside city hall is where the Crimewave takes place

SCR64.BMP

Then we got our construction tour!

SCR65.BMP

So the first ride has been constructed, an Enterprise. A spokesperson from the park said that all off next years additions will be villain themed. So what will this one be? Hmmm

SCR66.BMP

This is going to be extremely detailed when it is finished!

SCR67.BMP

SCR68.BMP

The back of the city scape

SCR69.BMP

Then before the park opened we jumped on Police Academy for a wild police chase!

SCR72.BMP

The park opened while I was walking to Stallion Express

SCR73.BMP

Up we go!

SCR74.BMP

What an insane ride.

For a park that uses no custom archy pieces it looks quite nice, but I think adding a bit more variety would help things really stand out, like more variety in vegetation, wall types, etc. Quite intrigued about the Batman ride. Overall you've done very well with this park.

I haven't been on Lethal Weapon for a long time!

SCR79.jpg.367e80a93f6167c2a15c337aa167d692.jpg

Even though this coaster is old, it sure does pack a punch.

SCR80.jpg.3e02f78e7f9ba4cee4efac7eae8d4b54.jpg

And backwards!

SCR81.jpg.2a96cda84358ac7cd6abfda8e356de94.jpg

As it is already midday, I stopped at the VIP Cafe for lunch.

SCR82.jpg.80ceeba9b77dcf21047dd9ca3e3a44cd.jpg

The cafe shows a great view of the backside of the Gotham City Buildings.

SCR83.jpg.01095be72c72be74e6ec8987feb97d76.jpg

I haven't seen the show run this year, Hopefully it is coming back.

The park was dead today so I had a quick lap on Stallion.

SCR85.jpg.0702187a8cd3703cc133830d72823822.jpg

And finally, the all new Gotham City!

SCR86.jpg.e1de18c8adbc22753231be0a3a3d5fc1.jpg

The ride is really well themed!

And a pic of construction on phase two of Gotham from the wall next to CrimeWave

You have skill, but the objects you're using are awful. Kudos for making them look better than they have any right to look but I'd suggest giving up on the expansion objects and using a workbench.

Awesome, never heard of a workbench before. Definitely will try it out in a future project . I'll stick to what I have done in this project though.

Go deeper into Gotham City, where crime runs free! In 1995 get ready to face the dark side of Gotham, as you come face to face with two of the baddest villains alive. Be spun and twirled in the air byPoison Ivy's Twisted Steel or take on the wrath of The Penguins Revenge. That;s not all, take a break at the all new Donney's Pizzeria as well as see the evil stunt spectacular, Villains Unleashed. 1995 will open phase 2 of 3 in the Gotham Project, it's so good to be bad!
