[RCT3] Project DL: Darien Lake Recreation

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

A few months ago, I got a request from DarienLaker for a recreation of Darien Lake 1996. I decided to recreate the current version of Darien Lake first so it would be easier to make the 1996 version.

I already started the project and I decided to share updates on my project with other Darien Lake and RCT3 fans.

Before you point out that the roller coasters are out of place, I have a trick for recreations where I open up a sandbox "construction zone" where I place some rides from the park, Decorate them, save the scenery, and put the park together like a puzzle.

I already started to put Darien lake together, starting with the waterpark.

It's not much, but here's how much I gotten done so far. It will look nicer over time

Brain Drain. I struggled a bit with the Green and Blue slide

The Ranger is back from the dead!

O.K. I see two things wrong, Ranger was over by Viper's exit, not by Ride of Steel, and the other half of Brain Drain is purple and black, not red and black. Other than that you're trying your best it recreating my home sweet home park.

P.S. Ranger was removed in 2016, but it was present in 1996.

^thanks for pointing out the Brain Drain error

I said in my first post that the Waterpark is at the actual Darien Lake scenario. The roller coasters and rides are at the "construction zone" sandbox, meaning I choose a random spot, build and decorate the rides, and then I save the ride and scenery and place them in the Darien Lake scenario where they will be put in the correct spots like a puzzle.

(The sandbox loads faster than the Scenario Editer)

Plus, I threw in Ranger for fun

^I'll give you a few tips for recreating Darien Lake 2016 and 1996:

*Even though it's gone now, please throw in the 'Cuda Falls water slides (P.S. CF used inner tubes) in the 2016 version just for fun!

*Motocoaster's supports are yellow, but the track is gray

*Ranger was more blue than teal

*Boomerang has a teal track

  • 2 weeks later...

After enjoying my time at SFGAM, I decided to get back to work

Shot0738.bmp

Started adding supports to Motocoaster.

Shot0739.bmp

Ride of Steel with some more accurate supports

Shot0740.bmp

I recolored Boomerang with the correct colored track

Predator version 1. Is there a ct of this ride?

Now moving to the actual DL Scenario, I started Ripcurl Racers. This is WAY harder than it looks.

This Darien Lake project is going to be a lot harder than I thought with very little resources on Darien Lake from 1996. I don't have any pictures of DL from 1996 and Googling for pictures of Darien Lake circa 1996 shows very little relevant results. I'm trying my best to help out Six Flags Astroworld on these project(s).
