Yup! Stl files (stereolithography) are what most (if not all?) 3D printers use.

I am looking for a good section of track to model up to make a desktop model for, just something small. I just finished Fury's lift hill, and am looking for 3 of 4 more to make for myself. Anyone have any suggestions of a famous section of track?

Printers are pretty expensive. I use the one at my school. Personal can range from $350 for cheap ones to probably about $2000 for the good ones

And even then those are still considered the consumer hobby ones. The more industrial ones that I am using (and that I imagine he is using as well) can be upwards of $20,000. I know my school has one that can print in bio-compatible material that was $200,000, and they just got one that was $750,000 that can print in a range of stiffnesses.

Wow that's some serious money there. I guess my chance to experience one of these personally is next to nill. Oh well, these still look pretty cool. I would love to see a complete circuit model sometime.

I've been working on some small models of famous elements. I haven't printed any yet however. I am always looking for suggestions on what to draw up next!

Would love to have a model of Magnum's pretzel! Gatekeeper's keyhole elements would be cool to see done!

Though I bet it would be really difficult, I'd love to see one 4D car on track. Like X2 for example.
