Press Release:

Capital Gazette: 8/19/2014

the Maryland State Department Of Labor and Anne Arundel County recently approved a bill for a new amusement park on the former site of the Maryland Renaissance Festival. In 2016, Maryland will open its brand new amusement park, located in Anne Arundel County, near the Chesapeake Bay. It is owned by a private company, and the land was purchased from the Maryland Renaissance Festival in Parole/Crownsville, which will be relocating to Severna Park in 2015. Located just 5 minutes from the Chesapeake Bay and Downtown Annapolis, the brand new "Chesapeake Bay Park" will feature two thrilling roller coasters, a family roller coaster, 3 flat rides, and two dueling Ferris Wheels named after two of Anne Arundel County's famous rivers that are arms of the Chesapeake Bay. The "South" Ferris Wheel is named after the South River, which is visible from the top of that wheel. The "Severn" is themed after the Severn River, which is visible from the top of that wheel. The Chesapeake Bay is visible from the top of both Ferris Wheel's. The park will also receive a water park in 2017. Photos of construction and progress will be posted soon as construction goes further.
