[RCT3] Carolina Coast Park (1949 - present)

Recommended Posts

Neon Pink, Green & Yellow

This coaster better be worth destroying a lot of charm. Something this large could backfire, very badly, if it doesn't pull in the right numbers. I would hate to see this park turn into another bankruptcy case.

The new teaser posters on the parks fence are making me very excited!

Ooo, this new coaster looks really tall... and is that a loop I see?

Whoo, a name has finally been released! Looks like the coaster is themed to electricity? That should be interesting to see...

I want to see more!

Well alrighty then

May 25th, 1985- Hey there!, 1985 is finally here after what feels like forever! The park definitely delivered with the new tallest rollercoaster in the Carolinas! Take that Carowinds...

The view from the parking lot has a very welcome new member

However the front entrance still has its same classic charm. Its hard to believe that this park is 35 years old this year and still looks so good.

Peace and quiet until opening day crowds arrive

I noticed that the park put up some signs on refreshment stands... I don't know why they put one up on this building though, no idea what they were thinking there... (Note to self: Take down sign on building! )

Kiddie-Land still as colorful as ever!

I'm glad you love Voltage, Bush...

Now this is interesting, its a Scrambler on the Roof. There are bathrooms downstairs too, its an interesting combination. Oh yeah, the scrambler also gets like a foot away from the edge so it feels like your about to get chucked off the roof every time your on the outside... Its awesome!

Dodgems and food. A match made in heaven...

There it is! The parks baby, Voltage . You can only see the "Batwing" in this picture, but since its the best part of the ride you don't really need to see the rest... Just kidding

Shot0165.jpg.1cce7cc26ef03d857b57747cb6076d98.jpg

The station is a little sparce, but its clean and nicely landscaped... Fortunately since Voltage had zero line running THREE trains the queue didn't need much shade.

Voltage is a looks a lot taller up close! That loop has to be at least 60 ft tall...

Batwinging across the coast!

Complete overview of the ride, with stats... As you might notice the design of this ride borrows heavily from Viper, another Arrow Mega-Looper. However the batwing next to the path is from Vortex. This coaster is shorter than Vortex in height and both in length though, at 2,900 ft long and 122 ft tall. With a max speed of 52 mph its also faster than Viper... In my opinion it does have a very Arrow-y design though so it feels realistic!

Turbo-Looper with its typical long line

A better picture of the Scrambler.

A "full train" getting off of Voltage... Don't let it fool you, its a bit of a crown muncher.

Kiddie-land absolutely packed!

Shot0172.jpg.322aba863da2e565073a982d9d5419c1.jpg

Even the Antique Cars had a line...

Shot0174.jpg.a1deaa7e826fa38b121bcca855e58f08.jpg

The park started to get really full at about 1 PM

Voltage showing the signs of a crowded day

Shot0177.jpg.03630b45291da67b3069960f2a183990.jpg

The teacups ended up getting a wait time of about 35 minutes or so... Insane for a kiddie ride

Shot0178.jpg.2d2de18030d82fb364bf5d15f091ce0b.jpg

The Dodgems were slightly less bad with only a 20 minute wait

Shot0179.jpg.59676a5072265730264f77e960dfb1f8.jpg

And speaking of wait times here comes the CCP king! Turbo Looper! Which ended up breaking down

Well I ran out of film here . The night got progressively better though, Wooden Warrior closed and reopened at 8:15 so I got rerides until about 8:45 when I ran over and rode Voltage at night... It was amazing! Can't wait to see what next year holds!

June 3rd, 1985 Well, I went over to the library and they had the latest aerial photographs from the park! Here they are...

Shot0181.jpg.4701350ba6f0c77bf51f06551b01ee1c.jpg

The first seems to be an offset picture to show the relative height... Voltage is almost as tall as the Observation Tower!

Shot0182.jpg.cb114d02a4205b1478509b9f13da8efc.jpg

The second one shows how massive the new expansion was though... Holy Cow the park looks like it almost doubled in size!

Shot0180.jpg.bf890b4a5b5d6c651b252f0f6048cae5.jpg

Oh yeah, my mom also got me this postcard from the park... Its pretty awesome

Very nice! Makes me miss playing these games and building parks. My seriousness gave way to ride-crashing people-tumbling tactics so I gave it up. Plus, the more elaborate my parks became, the S l o w e r they became so I could never finish one. Probably updates to my computer would fix that, but I'm not all that in to computer plug ins et al.
