coasterbill
I will say that the week of 4th of July is very busy in Wildwood. Book a hotel yesterday if you are serious about this. Most hotels only book out week long stays that week since many Philadelphians/people in the area take their yearly vacations that week around the 4th. Now keep in mind when I say busy - busy isn't really a thing for the ride lines in Wildwood. On the weekends in mid summer after dinner til about 10pm the ride lines get longer, but we're talking about 20 minutes tops for the major rides. Don't let that deter you, however Wildwood, and the boardwalk itself can get mobbed in mid summer, which can get a little tedious. I go to Moreys all the time, but I usually avoid the big three holiday weekends if I can. They do a hell of a fireworks show though. We watch the Wildwood Fireworks every year from across the Bay in Rehoboth. Granted, they're not as impressive when viewed from Delaware but the show goes on forever. ytterbiumanalyst
Just catching up on this thread, and I'm so glad you decided to go to Morey's. You absolutely must get a hotel ASAP. Expect to pay over $200. I went last year on a Saturday in August, and stayed at the Hojo on the north end of the boardwalk. Highly recommended; it's a great hotel in a great location. The rooms are well decorated and up to date, and they offer free parking for guests. Most importantly it's one of the very few hotels that will allow a one night stay. It's right on the boardwalk, near Surfside Pier. I work in the travel agency, so I get discounted hotels, but I believe the rack rate was around $240. As for your plan to stay at Knoebels until closing then drive to Hershey, sorry but it's impossible. They both close at 10PM weekdays in August through the 16th. The week of the 20th Knoebels is open until 9 and Hershey until 10; and the week of the 27th Knoebels is open until 7 and Hershey until 8. Considering travel time, there's absolutely no way you're staying at Knoebels until closing and then going to Hershey. You would have to leave Knoebels early, and that's highly inadvisable. RobertWord
Ok so it sounds like the 4th is not something I would want to do. What about during a long weekend hitting Kennywood on Friday, Saturday go to Dorney (removing that from the other trip) and stay just outside philly. Then Sunday go to playlands castaway for a little bit and then spend the rest of the day at morey's and drive back to the philly area to stay. Sunday drive home? Then the Tuesday of my 2nd trip could be a slow comfortable death march of Lake Compounce (2 hrs), quassy (30 min) Luna, and down to casino pier to ride hydrus. I'm not a credit whore, but hydrus looks like it's worth the drive. I love euro fighter's and euro fighter- like rides.
coasterbill
That could work, just leave Morey's as late as possible since traffic at the end of a summer weekend leaving Wildwood is going to be a sh*t show.

I think I've decided to take a long weekend fri-mon to hit Kennywood (one of many times this year), Dorney on Saturday, playlands/ morley's with 90% of the time spent at morley's on Sunday and stay near philly, and Monday drive home. I just don't feel like paying that much for a hotel. I thought I read on here that knoebels closes at 6. Maybe that was for a different time of the year. The other question I had is about what week I should do trip #2. Obviously I'm thinking August.

Unlike Wildwood, Seaside Heights was a pretty big disappointment despite being THE Jersey Shore. One note on Lake Compounce is Boulder Dash. Like most woodies, it heats up if you ride it later in the day. However, the park seemingly refuses to run two trains on it any more so it can get a slow moving line (usually it's a half hour and a full queue = 45-60 minutes). If you arrive at opening, you should be able to marathon it for the first hour. Having said that, if it is at all possible to get a night ride on it, do not miss the opportunity. With its setting on the mountain, it's one of the best night rides out there. Unfortunately the park does tend to close early.
RobertWord
Ok guys thanks so much for the help. I think I have a plan that works. Spring break trip: Sunday drive to six flags America, process six flags pass, and possibly preview Monday: all day at six flags America Tuesday: kings dominion with fast lane plus Wednesday: Busch gardens Thursday: drive to Carowinds Friday: all day at carowinds (judgement call on fast lane based on what I was able to do the day before) Saturday: drive home 4 day weekend trip: Friday: drive to Within 2 hours of casino pier Saturday: half day at casino pier/ half day at SFGA.. I will have the six flags pass and I won't spend all day at casino pier and there really doesn't seem like anywhere else to go. Sunday: playlands castaway cove and morey's piers with the vast majority of the day spent at morey's. Monday: drive home Late August trip: Friday: drive as Far East as I can after the GF gets out of work Saturday: dorney park Sunday: drive to SFNE and preview Monday: SFNE, lake Compounce Tuesday: quassy, Luna Park, drive to SFGA and spend what's left of the day (if any) there. Wednesday: SFGA Thursday: knoebels Friday: hersheypark Saturday: drive home, maybe stop at cedar point or Kennywood
