Rougarou
Hi Everyone! It's Michael from DC! I was originally from the metro Detroit area and moved to the DMV (DC Maryland Virginia) in 2012. My former home park was Cedar Point. In my backyard Michigan's Adventure , King's island and Canada's Wonderland. Now it's Six Flags America (right?) well my backyard is full of many parks and city limits, even more YIPEE! This summer, I decided to mix things up and opt out of renewing my Cedar Fair Platinum and opt into Six Flags season pass. It forced me to get reacquainted with my home park. So glad I did! I can proudly say "Six Flags America is my home park!!" - Here's pictures I took throughout the summer! ENJOY! CHEERS! Say Hello to Six Flags America! boldikus
Your photos are fantastic! They make a crappy park look really, really good. I do love the highs at this park but there are too many lows. If they add something amazing I'll go back, my last visit was pretty bad.

robbalvey
While I admit this isn't a park we frequent very often (partially because they just haven't gotten anything new to draw us back in a while) I think it gets a worse rap than it deserves. It actually does have three decent to great coasters IMO (Superman, Jokers Jinx, Wild One) A somewhat average, but didn't hurt you (at least the last time I rode it) coaster in Roar. And a good, but short drop tower. There are also a decent amount of flat rides, which is good. IMO the following coasters are crap: Batwing & Mind Eraser. And I haven't been on Iron Wolf or the spinning mouse since they moved them there, but I'm going to assume they are no different from when they were at their previous location, which also aren't draws for me to make a return visit. Every time we've been to the park, it *looks* nice and they do a good job with landscaping and keeping it up. Sadly, it's the operations and the clientele that have also kept us away. It's the only park I've ever been to where guests have made me feel "unsafe" after threatening me for using the Flash Pass system and the operations and security who were standing right there did nothing about it. Overall, if you're there on an uncrowded day and want to get in a few laps on their four better coasters, it's not a bad stop. Just one we don't need to make that often. cfc
To me, SFA is a park you visit in the springtime before it gets unbearably hot and crowded. I've had three visits there--two good, one bad. Not such a bad track record.

Pretty much exactly my opinion of the place from my trip last week. Pretty solid coaster collection, nice appearance near the front half and the park was mostly clean. The employees really killed most of the experience for me. Rude employees at Roar and Superman, safety negligence at Superman and Joker (not even bothering to say "all clear" on Superman and missing seat belt checks on Joker), and just terrible morale all around. The clientelle was distracting but for the most part everyone behaved. Oh, and the Gotham area is pretty hideous. The lack of shade and ridiculous walk to Batwing was irritating. Overall, it is worth the credits and some rides on the good coasters. I won't be returning until they make some major upgrades.
Samuel
During my last stop around Halloween, the haunt atmosphere was pretty good and the scare actors were into their jobs. Superman is also worth the price of admission if you've never been on it, and Joker's Jinx & Wild One aren't bad. For me to go back, it would take RMC Roar or a truly new coaster. Even then, I think it's more of a zip-in-zip-out park than the kind of place where I'd spend all day. Like Robb mentioned, the clientele can be sketchy. In my visits, the vibes fluctuated between unwelcome rowdiness and areas of pin-drop silence and desertion. Superman, which really is the star attraction and a lot of fun, had a station that just felt downtrodden. Miserableness hung in the air. Operations were slow. A lot of teens in line were acting too cool for school instead of allowing themselves to have fun. Those bad vibes really needed to be vacuumed out somehow; perhaps easier said than done, I know, and maybe things have improved since. I didn't come across too many responsible families or nearly anyone over 50. I find that parks that get the whole family to come out are more pleasant than those that attract teen hordes, young couples, and unsupervised children. "Where are your parents?" popped into my head several times. Also, that very non-immersive, unconnected back of the park from Joker's Jinx-on felt low-rent and was an atmosphere killer. The path to Batwing epitomized the cheap feel of Six Flags' circa-2000 attractions dump, which plopped in a ton of coasters and spammed superhero logos on trash cans, but didn't know how to make a park charming. I had similar thoughts about Six Flags Worlds of Adventure, which also received a circa-2000 steroidal package of superhero rides and Looney Tunes cutouts, but I never had a great time there. But all that said, thanks for the report & pics, OP! There are still some good rides, nice areas, and highlights to be found around the park, for sure. CoasterAuditor
I went to Six Flags America once in 2008 and I had a great time. It certainly is a low-tier park for me and shocking I've only been once since for the last three years I've lived down in Fredericksburg making it easily accessible. I do find the companys desire to invest in it lately somewhat encouraging. It's certainly a solid park and I love Superman, Roar, Wild One, and JJ. I do agree the atmosphere is pretty lacking and it makes it more difficult when you have people that frequent Kings Dominion and Busch Gardens like me comparing it. palmerleeberry
I often feel like Six Flags America has been treated like it was the bastard son of the Six Flags family; in as much so that a few years ago I boycotted all Six Flags parks until Six Flags America finally gets the props and respect it should deserve. I since then recanted that boycott and have visited not just Six Flags America, but also a few other Six Flags parks as well. But I will admit there was two seasons in which I purchased a Six Flags season pass, but not at Six Flags America ( one was at Six Flags New England and the other was at Six Flags over Georgia) even though it was the nearest Six Flags park to me. The last time I was at Six Flags America was during Frightfest a few years ago ( after the Ragin' Cajun debuted) and I enjoyed my visit there. Despite the negative press this park keeps getting, I feel that this park is decent enough, but it'd take something special to cause riders and amusement park flyers to want to return to this park season after season. I'm not perfect - I just love to ride!!!
Jason Maier
I have a love/no love relationship with SFA. Love . . . it's only a 35 mile drive away from where I live No love . . . . it has potential to be better, but . . . . isn't Sometimes I think of defecting to Cedar Point (I'm only 2 hours from King's Dominion and about 2 hours 45 minutes from Dorney Park) . . .
