The Angry Darren Mullins
October 22, 2016: Guilin Merryland I took a short trip this weekend to visit Guilin Merryland. This is a really nice park with several theme areas such as China, the wild west and South Pacific. It is themed really well for a Chinese park and there is a beautiful lake here. There is only one coaster now. It is called Family Coaster and is a Tivoli medium coaster. It was great to ride it. It became coaster #1035 for me. Until recently, there was also a Golden Horse spinning coaster called Magical Wheels, but this has been removed. I do hope the park gets another coaster soon. Hopefully they will go with something that will not be ready to be scrapped after 5 or 6 years. The park is also dirt cheap. It is $23 USD for a one day ticket. Food here is a little over $4 per meal. It is a large park and has a rapids ride and a shoot the chutes. Both get riders wet. The only downside to the park is the location. It is anyway from 90 minutes to 2 hours by bus to the park from the city. As a side note, I was also going to go to Victory Kingdom this weekend, but there is a serious lack of information available for the park. This is not good. I hope to come back to Guilin soon. I will visit Guilin Merryland today. It is actually about 2 hours away from the city of Guilin and is in the middle of nowhere. This park is set against the backdrop of some nice scenery. I love the building for the carousel. Many people were enjoying the pirate ship today. This is the only ride in the Europe section of the park. The rapids ride is well themed. This ride opened shortly after I took the photo. It gets you very wet. Guilin Merryland has an actual Tivoli coaster. This is the real deal. It is not a knockoff. Look at all that Tivoli... Here is the highest point of the ride. It is less than 20 feet tall. This was great to see after so many cookie cutter Chinese coasters. Here is an on ride shot to finish off the TR.
