DoinItForTheFame
Hey All, Well, since we visit SDC a lot. . . and I mean a LOT!! Okay, well maybe not that much. But usually we are at the park every other weekend (weather permitting.) So instead of doing 5 billion different threads for different trip reports, I figured I'd just start one thread, and add to it each time I had a new trip report to the park! So... Check back often for updates!! With all of that being said, on with the first trip report!! First Visit Of The Season Well this was our first visit of the season, and it was a slightly busy day at the park. It was in the mid 60's and slightly windy all day, which made for some rather cold rides, but nothing to miserable! As always, we started the day out with a back row ride on Wildfire! I always seem to forget just how much airtime there is on that first drop in the back row! Holy mother of peal, it was amazing! The ride was smooth as glass, and full of forces! We did notice later in the day that one of the trains has much more, very noticeable"rattle" than the other. However, I forgot to check and see which train it was, so I'll have to update that later. After Wildfire we headed over to Powder Keg! Powder Keg was running great! The launch always takes me by surprise. For such a small coaster, that launch sure packs a punch. Also, the team was pumping those trains out so fast it was insane! There were several times the team would have the train checked and ready to go, and still be waiting for the transfer track to slide back down before they could dispatch. I was VERY impressed with the efficiency of the crew! After Powder Puff we headed over to Outlaw Run. As soon as we were about to board the coaster the ride broke down. Instead of waiting around for it to be fixed we headed over to check out Firefall! This was our first visit to the park since the addition of Fireman's Landing, and boy were we surprised. The entire area is so well themed, and so well put together that it really brought some life back to that area of the park! Also, Firefall sure packs a punch for such a small tower. They first two "drops" are crazy extreme! After Firefall we headed to Thunderation, and then did lunch! After lunch we headed over to Outlaw Run, which was running as great, and screechy as always! Did Giant Barn Swing, Fire-In-The-Hole, and then went back over to Wildfire! After Wildfire, it was back to Powder Keg, then Giant Barn Swing, Outlaw Run, Firefall, and repeated this 5 or 6 times. The park was looking great this year! I know it is early in the season, but all the crews were doing great! Everyone we interacted with was super nice and friendly! You could really tell that everyone there truly loves their job. Also, when did Fire-In-The-Hole get a LIVE Dalmatian?! We first noticed him after our second ride when we were coming back into the station on the right side of the coaster in a little area! We were really shocked to see a live dog as part of the theming for a coaster! Anyone know any more about this Dalmatian!? All in all it was a great visit to the park! Can't wait to be back!! Anywho, on with the photos!! First ride of the day!! The height difference between the station and this part right here is crazy! Next up: Powder Puff!! Fire!! This coaster really is a blast. Anyone know what is in this box?? That lady in the purple though. Such a unique thing on a coaster. Bye Felicia. These riders agree that Powder Keg really is a blast. Going down. So. Much. Theming. A much better use for Buzzsaw Falls. All I want is a roll back on Powder Keg. Is that to much to ask for? Smooth as glass!! (Well, at least in one of the trains!) S&S is that you? This is actually what powers Powder Keg. Not compressed air like everyone thinks. Going down! Wildfire doing its thing. Such a massive cobra roll. For those of you who are into this kind of thing... Theming at it's finest. More theming. Wildfire's old extended que line. Bye for now! Next up: Giant Barn Swing! Its a giant barn. . . With a giant swing. Outlaw Run! The station is so awesome. The front of the trains could use a little de-bugging. No one has ever taken this photo before. . . Going down. A few seconds later! Not today... This is the tunnel where babies are made. Going down (outside of the tunnel this time) Best way to clean up after the tunnel. Speaking of water rides Away they go to their very wet doom! Bless your little heart. Such a well placed ride! Lost River Of The Ozarks, lost it's sign. . . Waterfalls are always a plus! Such a beautiful area! It looks much better without all of that crappy Geyser Gulch "theming" in the water! Such a powerful tower! No trip to SDC is complete without a ride on Fire-In-The-Hole! Still better than Six Flags. Yes, you can buy furniture at Silver Dollar City. How you get it out of the park, and home I will never know. This is the real reason people come to SDC! Such a beautiful park! This is how you theme a water fountain! This is how you hide a giant indoor roller coaster in the middle of the park! I wanted to try these, but they closed early. Maybe next time! Instead, this was dinner. . . and it was REALLY good!! Maybe next time. So very well themed. Giant Barn Swing kind of swinging. No caption needed! All the babies are done being made for today. One last ride on Wildfire for this trip! One of the most beautiful views from a coaster... EVER! That sky though! <3 Goodbye for now SDC! I'll be back soon!! coasterkid124
I believe the metal box on Powder Keg's train is a pneumatic control for the restraints. It communicates with the computer and unlocks or locks them when needed. They work similar to hydraulic ones, they just use air instead of oil. Nice trip report. Theming like that makes me wish that Darien Lake was still under Herschend's umbrella.
ytterbiumanalyst
Great trip report! Fire in the Hole has had a Dalmatian for a few years now. The kids always love petting the dog while it's in the queue. Oh, and bad move skipping the cinnamon bread. Never skip the cinnamon bread.
DoinItForTheFame
^ Never had any. . . So I don't know what I'm missing!! But we have decided we will get some on our next visit!

Shavethewhales
Great photos. I always like it when people point out the details in these reports. They've actually had a dalmatian around FITH for years now, though it's not there every day. They've gone through a few of them actually. I think an employee simply owns it and brings it with them each day.

DoinItForTheFame
Visit Two Of The Season! Sunday we went to the park expecting really heavy crowds, and insane lines. . . Boy were we in for a surprise. The park was the complete opposite. Judging by the parking lots, you would think the park was going to be packed, not sure where all the people were but the lines for the rides were almost non-existent. We got to the park around 10:00am, and around 3:00pm (which is early for us.) Not sure if it was just a lack of sleep, or heat exhaustion (or both) but were were both feeling rather miserable by the 3:00, so we called it a day and left early! First ride of the day (as always) was Wildfire. We finally figured out which train has the worst "rattle" and it's train two. The rattle is really distracting, and almost makes the ride feel rough. However a later ride on train one was just as glass smooth as expected!! From now on we will only ride in train one to make sure Wildfire is as amazing as it can be!! After Wildfire we headed over to Powder Puff which shockingly had a full que, and kept a full que almost all day. However, thanks to our Season Pass Trailblazer pass we walked right on in about 3 minutes! They were running only two trains, which was a little annoying, but nothing major. Sadly as we were waiting for our second ride on the coaster two separate guest ended up getting sick. It didn't cause any delays, but it was just awkward. . . Am I the only one who finds it awkward when a guest gets sick at a park?? Its like the giant purple elephant in the room that no one wants to talk about. Leaving Powder Puff we headed over to Outlaw Run which had a 0 minute wait. We didn't even bother using the trailblazer lane, we just walked straight through the main que and onto the coaster. Just as amazing as always. We then headed over to Fire In The Hole which ended up being a REALLY annoying ride because we were trapped near an over talkative enthusiast. . . After Fire In The Hole we tried the new "Southwestern Chicken" skillet food, and we were both highly disappointed. It was not nearly as good as some of the parks other skillet food. Not sure what it was about it, but it really just didn't seem to "fit" in the park. After the skillet food we rode Fire In The Hole again. Much better ride this time!! We left Fire In The Hole and we to Great American Plunge! First water ride of the season!! I had no idea how long the baby making tunnel was. But it was nice and relaxing. I also found a random part of the long flume that use to exist, but no longer does which I was going to take pictures of, but stopped caring because I was feeling like death. Great American Plunge provided a surprisingly large splash!! It was nice and refreshing, but not enough to make me feel any better. We did Grand Fathers Mansion, grabbed some Cinnamon Bread and then left! All in all, a decent day at the park had it not been for both of us not feeling good, and a rather annoying ride on Fire In The Hole neither of which were the parks fault. Thanks for reading, and I assure you the next update will have much more, and better photos!! As well as a look at the random old log flume! I think this is the first time I have ever taken a photo of this sign. I love the random tree right next to the house. It adds to the theming. "Erect?" *giggle* I swear I did not flip this photo over. Looks better than it taste. If I were Whitney Houston this would be my crack. Love the attention to detail. Wildfire's Sign always looks so good! Ride in train one... always train one. Powder Puff! I found the Dalmatian I was talking about in my first TR! Off they go into the baby making tunnel. YUMM! *cough* Edited June 2, 2016 by DoinItForTheFame

DoinItForTheFame
Third Visit Of The Season! Well, this past Saturday we made another trip out to SDC. It was a nice visit. Much better than the last one!! We did our usual round of coasters, and this time we hit up some water rides to keep us cool since it was really hot outside. We had some skillet food. We checked out the construction markers near Thunderation. Took some more rides, and then headed home!! All it in all it was a great visit. I wont go into much detail right now, but be sure to read the capitions for the photos! Enjoy! Ride Count For This Visit: Wildfire: 3x's Powderkeg: 3x's Outlaw Run: 2x's Thunderation: 1x American Plunge: 1x Lost River: 1x Fire In The Hole: 1x River Blast: 2x Giant Barn Swing: 1x Firefall: 1x Then it traveled through here, and back to the station. Back to the station which now runs under the que line. Next up? Wildfire! Such a beautiful coaster! Through the loop! WATCH OUT FOR THAT TREE!! Going down. Still one of the most beautiful coaster settings.... EVER! This pot is for collecting change, which will eventually be used to buy a new train that doesn't rattle. Such a well themed station. Even the plants are happy to be at SDC. Theming... EVERY WHERE. A really like that the park has this. A great place to eat. With really reasonable prices. Fire In The Hole theming! "Must take this photo..." The event that is going on right now. First ride of the day! Off to the "baby making tunnel." Going down. El Splasho! Part of the old log flume, with what looks like a drop out of the building down to the trench. Anyone know what happened to this half of the ride?? Best place to sit on Fire In The Hole! Next up?! Powder Puff! Oh... Maybe not. Still waiting for a rollback! For those of you who are into this kind of thing... A very powerful wall@+! Very interesting to watch. Sausage! Yas! You might consider a tic-tac. Such a beautiful park! Noted. This is where crack is made, and can legally be bought. *cough* it's a bridge... Interesting to watch this thing work. Interesting fact! This is actually used to power part of the building that makes the cinnamon bread! YAS!! Amazing food!! Time to go look at the construction site! More markers "E Coaster" Markers. More people off to see the construction! Thunderation theming! Looks good to me. Noted. This is where I was told SDC is getting a inverted launched family coaster next year... Maybe someday this will get used again!! Next up? Firefall! Love Firefall! Very well done... So well themed. This is where I was told that SDC is getting a 287.6ft tall 98.2mph B&M Hyper Coaster. Lost River Of The Ozarks has still lost its sign... So much beauty through out the park! Next up.. River Blast!! Much better than a fancy river boat. I think we are headed the right way. I don't know what is more fun, riding the ride, or shooting the people on the boats from the paths. Such a well themed station! Note the girl trying to hide from the riders. Such a fun area!! Then it was time to air dry. Looks like our season trailblazer passes wont be needed here. A much deserved ride. So. much. Theming. <3 Here is where I heard that SDC will be getting a launched B&M wing coaster for next year. . . Oh look, a giant barn! Those people are getting pretty high. Buzzsaw Falls is that you?? Interesting read. Wildfire's bubbles were working!!! ... Well, kind of. Going up(side down)! Going down! Such a great photo!! That's all for this week! Shavethewhales
Really great shots. That camera does really well with lighting, what model is it? That bit on the American Plunge is actually part of the old Jim Owen's Float Trip ride which sat on the same spot. American Plunge was built over it, but everything after the lifthill is new. The old course can be seen from Wildfire's Overflow queue and it runs underneath the pathway out there. Jim Owen's didn't have any drops though, it was just an open air boat ride with some thematic elements and a tunnel.
DoinItForTheFame
^ Thanks. Awesome to hear what was actually there before, I'll have to look it up!! Really great shots. That camera does really well with lighting, what model is it? Thanks for the feedback. All of the photos posted have been taken from my Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. But instead of just "snapping the photo and moving on" I'll take the time to line things up, and make sure the lighting looks good, then take the photo... If I don't like how the photo looks I'll delete it and try again. I know they are no where near the greatest photos, but I try to make them look decent. DoinItForTheFame
A bit late, I know but... Fourth Visit Of The Season! (Okay, more like 11th visit of the season. But I haven't felt like doing a TR in a while, soooo yeah.) We hit up the park on labor day weekend. We weren't to worried about the possibility of the park being packed, we knew we would get to ride what we wanted, and then head out. . . Well that was almost the case. We got to the park, and we started with our normal rounds. Back row of Wildfire, then over to Powder Puff, the Giant Barn Swing, and over to Outlaw Run. We go to Outlaw Run, and we were headed down the Trailblazer line as a train full of happy riders came flying into the brake run!! As we approached the gate we noticed them unlocking the restraints, and making everyone on the train get back in line. They sent out the empty train to get everyone on the brake run off the ride. They then dispatched the train from the station, and left it sitting at the top of the lift hill, and left the other train sitting on the brake run. Not sure what was going on, but we left, and figured we do everything else, and then come back to Outlaw Run later in the day. We went over and did Lost River, Firefall, American Plunge, ate some food, rode Thunderation, and Fire-In-The-Hole, headed back over to Poweder Puff, which was now down. . . So we swung by Giant Barn Swing, and headed over to Outlaw Run. Well, it was still down and we overheard the ride operator telling guest at the entrance of the ride that it most likely wouldn't be open again today, but might open the next day. Not sure what was wrong with it, but when we were on the park train we noticed all of the maintenance men sitting around the second set of drive tires in the station. Anyway, so we headed over to the train, took a ride around the park, went back to Wildfire, got in another back row ride, and then headed out!! All in all, a pretty good visit, with the exception of missing out on Outlaw Run!! Oh well, there is always this coming weekend!! We also noticed that the park started decorating for Christmas!! (Thankfully it makes me not feel so bad about having to start putting lights up on our house this weekend in order to get them all done in time.) So I also took some photos of the the amount of detail they put into their Christmas light display!! Anywho, Enjoy the photos! We have arrived!! They will seriously put lights on anything. This will still remain one of the best settings for a roller coaster... EVER. There is so much theming everywhere at the park. Off to the baby making tunnel. The skillet food never gets old!! Oh dear god. What a line. Thank goodness for trailblazer passes!! I love that even Fire In The Hole's pet Dalmation gets its own name plate!! Off to ride Outlaw Run!! Little did I know this would be the last riders of the day. There she sat, all broken hearted. Oh wait, no that was me because I couldn't ride Outlaw Run!! I think that date is like important or something... The lines were crazy!! Again, thank goodness for trailblazer! I see you over there. Someone is about to get very moist. The lights are so perfectly aligned. I wonder if this is real... For those of you who were wondering... There's something important about this cave. Leather?! Lights... EVERY WHERE!!! I love the way they went to all the work to make sure the lights followed the waves of the flag. I wonder how many fuses they blow. . . Lights... Lights... LIGHTS!! It's a Double Shot! And a forceful one at that. A look at the construction markers. "E Coaster." That tall one in the back is new. These might be important to the people building the new coaster. The all new "Construction Sight Tours!" There is a new fence!! More people off to view the construction! Thunderation sure does have a lot of theming!! And the station is REALLY tall!! The least expensive "Build A Bear" in the world! The park train!! Lets take a look... Interesting. . . OMG. These are just as good (if not better) than the skillet food! Such a relaxing park. Even Wildfires sign has lights on it! Lights around the food signs! (Seriously everything has lights on it!) They are getting pretty high up there. I see more lights!! Pretty sure half the park missed Outlaw Run today!! (Because, you know... it was closed and all.) More lights. The lights never end... "We will be the last to let you down." The back side of some of the Christmas lights. A broken upskirt shot. They are in for a blast! Away they go! Going down!! Through the trees. (That takes talent) This is what happens when the entire family ends up on one side of the boat. Hard to see, but that entire thing is covered in lights. So much attention to detail when hanging the lights. I see some lights on!! Such a fun ride!! Any guesses as to what's next?? You guessed it!! The train! The park wasn't overly crowded. I see more lights!! Poweder Puff! Yes, that's an inversion. Ha! Poor Ma. More Powder Puff! Where Outlaw Run sat for the majority of the day. Going down!! That's a lot of moistness. Keeping the old around for theming. Wildfire doing it's thing. A "NEVER BEFORE SEEN SHOT" of Wildfire's loop!! <3 Damn sun. And I thought I was bad with how many Christmas lights I put up!! Interesting to know. This is where it all started.

sdcfan88
Love the photos and review! I have visited the park 7 times this season and 4 out of the 7 times I have been there Outlaw Run has been broke down the entire day. I was quite miffed the only time I made it for Moonlight Madness it was broke down once again. Dunno whats going on with it this year. Personally for me Wildfire is the best coaster there and fortunately I have only seen it broke down once. As for the construction clearing by ThuNderaTion, yes it is getting huge!
