  1. Six Flags St. Louis is the only park of the 3 built from the ground up by Six Flags Corp that remains fully owned by the company. OT and OG are owned by limited partnerships and Six Flags is hired to manage the parks. The other parks for the most part were purchased after they were built, ie Great America owned by Marriott Hotels and purchased by Six Flags in the 80's (this is also how Six Flags got the rights to Looney Tunes and Batman), Six Flags owns the land, others like FC are a lease type style. I'd say the company owns more than it leases.
  2. Will the Jack Program be back this year on the Ferris wheel? or is that finally dead for good now. Last year there was talk about it returning....
  3. Excalibur no longer says returning this summer, it now only says down for rehab.
  4. Rumor has it that SoG Goliath was designed and intended to be for Six Flags STL.
  5. I have been meaning to post but does anyone else hate how slow the Ferris wheel is now. I liked it better when it went faster and around multiple times.
  6. *** That Building was a Texaco Gas Station Interesting, I would have never known that, I wonder if anyone has any archival photographs of the parking lot with the gas station? What is the deal with all that unused land anyway by the parking gates? It looks like it was never really used besides random pathways, and a pet kennel that I don't think is open anymore. I wonder if they could ever expand a roller coaster out there and have a fly over moment like Gatekeeper at Ceder Point, that would be a pretty awesome use of all that unused land and get people excited when sitting in line to get in. That unused land I believe used to have picnic tables for people to eat. The pet kennel is still open. Last time I was at the park this month I saw 2 dogs in there. The land used to be a lot better up-kept. In fact that whole toll plaza road and flowers hanging from the street lights.
  7. I wanna say it closed down in the very early 90's. I remember when I was a kid that you almost always waited in a long line to exit the park once it closed for the night. They have had cops directing cars onto 5th street. That's how busy the park used to be and how many ppl used to stay until park closing.
  8. The current one might not meet current building codes or safety requirements, particularly the stairs to the operator booth. Odd stair spacing and a place to smack your head if you weren't careful. I think this will look great when it's done. I'm not crazy about a superhero theme in Britannia but this might bring a retheme of the area. Hopefully this brings a much need cosmetic restoration to the Carousel since it's right across the midway. They use the lights on Fireball and Spinsainty, don't see why they wouldn't put them on this. Our park does not maintain lighting packages at all. They let sky screamer lights fail and have not fixed. Fireballs lights glitch. A large amount of lights are out at Spinsanity. They killed the chasers of the eagle. They killed the pumpkin on the wheel. Sure they might work for a season or two. Which is sad. Lights at night are awesome.
  9. All I've heard is that maintenance is hoping to get it reopened by next season. Most of the rumblings I've heard about the new addition are pointing to an Endeavor going in Highland Fling's old spot. Of course, we employees really don't have any more knowledge about future additions than most people. But it makes the most sense to me- they already have a queue and ride pad just sitting there. And Fling was a family favorite, lots of guests seem upset when I tell them that it's not there any more, so I'm sure it would be a hit. Whatever ends up going there can't be much taller anyways due to Dragon's Wing flying over the area. That is what makes the most sense to me. I loved Highland Fling and an endeavor, hopefully the higher capacity model, would be nice to plunk down in that spot. Assuming it has a lights package that many of the new ones have, it would really brighten up that area of the park at night. Sadly six flags St. Louis doesn’t care to maintain lighting packages
  10. Actually both the regular white lights and Fright Fest orange lights stay on Colossus all year long. That is one of the nice parts of having the new, longer lasting LED lights. Without it, it would be a LOT harder to do the lights in terms of taking them down and putting them up each year. I had noticed the clock program hasn't been on for a while now. (During the 55 hour weeks, it seemed like the giant clock was almost mocking me as I left each night, counting down my hours of sleep.) I will go ahead and look into it tomorrow and report back. Did you find anything out on this? guess no one at the park is willing to answer you on this?? HW-I guess this one won't get answered?
