  1. Hello ! I'm not new to the forum but I've barely never posted. I'm an MSc electrical engineer from Europe and for more than 3 years now I'm looking for a jobs in the attractions industry related to my studies. I've got wide knowledge in electricity, electronics, mechanics, materials, networks/communications, programming and some others computer related knowledge. I'm employed in the railway industries currently but I'm looking at every opportunity to get a job related to my passion. Unfortunately I didn't get a lot yet. I've been at IAAPA EAS shows 3 years in a row, I've attended safety seminars to get some contacts, I'm looking at every manufacturer website if there is some jobs offering (when they have a jobs page), I check also regularly the jobs board of IAAPA. I've got a large amount of business cards from people of almost every major manufacturer in the world, during the attractions shows many staff were very enthusiast when talking to me but after I've contacted them back I don't get any replay to my emails, like we had never talked in the first place. Until now I got an interview and 2 more contacts that were serious about hiring, 2 of them were declined for other reason than my capacities and 1 I've declined (with some regrets) because it was not corresponding to my level of studding (but I didn't get any formal offer anyway). I'm willing to move almost anywhere in the world but preferably in Switzerland, Germany, USA, UK, Italy Do you guys have recommendations ? maybe some contacts ?
  2. Hello, I'm traveling between New York and Boston the first week of April (30 March to 8 April exactly), but I could find any theme park to ride good coasters. The Six Flags Great Adventure, Six Flags New England, Coney Island Luna Park even Hersheypark are all closed before the 12th April. Is there other theme park maybe less famous that could be open during that period ?
  3. Thanks for all these informations. So it's confirmed that the park did not open before 12th April... it's annoying because in this case we have to re-schedule the whole trip in order to be able to go to SFGA... I've booked a car from 29th March to 8 April, then an Hotel in Manhattan from 8 to 13th. In this case if I still wanna go to Six Flags we should start with the stay in NYC then book the car for a trip that will finish with SixFlags. It also means carrying in the trunk of the car all the stuffs we will buy in NY shops... I'm not very enthusiastic about that idea... Maybe SixFlags will be for another time .
  4. Hello! I'll fly from Europe to NYC end of March and I will be visiting NYC 9-13 April. Before that I had to organize a tour and I want definitely go to SixFlags GA for King Da Ka. But I'm scare about many things: First is there a confirmed opening days ? It was March then 12th April, then 5th April... what is right ? My ideal day would be 7 or 8th April any chance to be open ? It's crazy that there is no information yet on their website. Secondly, id by chance it's open went I could go, how high is the risk to have King Da Ka closed due to the installation of the (sh****y) drop tower on it ? I would be so pissed off if the only time in my life I could come here the world record coaster would be closed. Third, as I can very rarely go to major theme park I prefer to put more money and enjoy it as much as possible. How expensive would be a flash pass to be able to ride and re-ride unlimited without wait ? Any promo for TPR members for 2014 ? (when I try the login at six flags accesso it's not loading the site...). Thanks for any help, as early as I can have reliable information the more easy I can prepare my trip.
  5. Already visited this year: Europa Park (DE) Gardaland (IT) plus some fairground's rides in Geneva (CH) Planned (for my very first trip to the USA): Six Flags Magic Mountain (3rd Sept) Knott's Berry Farm (5th Sept) Universal Studios (6th Sept) Most of Vegas' coasters (8-10 Sept) Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk (arround 16-18 Sept)
  6. Thanks for your photos and videos, that remember me when I was younger going to Mirabilandia every year (the year they added Katun I was so f%!king crazy !!). I used to love the Sierra Tornante wodden coaster, last time I went there it was still in function and I get very sad to see its removal. But iSpeed and Divertical look so awesome I should try to go there again, maybe next year. Rainbow Magic land seams to be a great park too but I'll wait for the first major coaster addition to go there because I've many other great European parks to visit before that.
  7. I'm coming Labor Day Monday... if the waiting time is like you said even on this day I'm ok without FP. About running to the coaster at opening, it's ok when I visit a park with my brother (like in Europa Park last time, we run like crazy to Wodan Timbur Coaster and it was closed ). But at MM I'll be on holiday with my girlfriend and she isn't really a coaster fan, actually she's ridden a coaster for the first time last year when I bring here to Disneyland Paris. She already told me she will not ride X2, Tatsu, LL and Superman with me . I think I'll try to go as fast as possible to X2 at the beginning then we will see if the FP is needed or not for the rest of the coaster.
  8. There's never a 3-4 hour line anymore. I haven't seen anything more than 2 hours 15 minutes this whole season, including weekends! In weekdays, it usually won't get much longer than 75 minutes in the morning and will usually drop to about 25-30 minutes around 4:40 PM. I will usually go to X2 in the morning and then go back for a second ride during the 4 'o clock hour. Monday shouldn't be bad. The hours are decreased to 10:30-8PM. You would probably be better going Tuesday though as Tuesday always seems to be the emptiest day of the week. But use this order: X2 Tatsu Superman: Escape from Krypton Apocalypse Riddler's Revenge Single Rider Green Lantern Single Rider Batman Lex Luthor: Drop of Doom Single Rider Colossus Scream Goliath Viper Ninja Rerides and any other rides Thanks for the list, it's stored in my smartphone. Did you forget Revolution on purpose ? is it so bad ? About going on Tuesday, of course it was my first idea, right after the holiday... but of course the park is closed ! (I still don't understand why). For me 45-75min wait is already very long... and even more for my girlfriend because she isn't a big fan of coasters . I usually always go to a park on weekdays off holiday, and wait no more than 15min at 95% of rides. In the case of Magic Mountain with "only" 30min per ride, 14 rides, it'll take 7h only for waiting in line ! If it's the case I won't hesitate to get a Gold Flash Pass, it could maybe be my only time ever at this park so I can afford it.
  9. Thanks for all the answers. I've also asked Six Flags customer services and they said Monday they're expecting less crowd in the park he doesn't even told me about Flash Pass in his answer. I think we will try without Gold Flash Pass first, see how it is and hoping there will be still left in case of crowd coming. And I'll ride as single rider many time because my sweetie will probably don't dear to do rides like LL, X2 or Tatsu. You speak about single rider line for LL, do you know if there is also a single rider line for X2, Tatsu and other major rides? so I can ride them faster while my sweetie wait me. (I'm a big fan of single rider lines, when I'm at a park with my brother many time we use it to re-ride faster). I'm very excited for this visit, following by Knott's Berry Farm on Wednesday and Universal studios on Thursday.
  10. Hello ! I'm going to LA the first week of September. It'll be my first time in MM and my first time in the US ever. So of course I've got the eternal question... when to go ? I'll land late on Friday 31th August and I'll leave LA on 7th Sept (Vegas baby!). I was hoping to visit on Tuesday or Wednesday just after the Labor Day but... it's closed ?!!? why the f** such a big park close in early September weekdays ? isn't it suppose to have still hot weather at that time ? So I've left for choice: Sunday 2nd or Monday of Labor Day 3rd... any advice ? Riding coaster on weekend and holiday is my absolute nightmare like most of you I guess. Any local can give me advice for this crucial choice ? Do I absolutely need a Flash Pass ? Gold or Plat ? Is the Gold Flash Pass allowing you to ride as many time as you want or only one time each coaster ? PS: sorry I didn't introduce myself, I'm reading the forum for a long time but it's my first post... I've just freaked out while organizing my travel so I've post in a rush. I'm Eluc from Switzerland. Electrical Engineer in railway technologies (like coaster but a little more flat basically) maybe looking foreword to to the coaster industry in the future.
