  1. My guess is we might be getting Boomerang from Knotts, Most Boomerangs are 110ft, it would also be the cheapest way to add a new ride. Would also fit the "Hangtime" name.
  2. Rumor has it that once the park saw how much over-budget Rougarou ended up, they pulled the plug on the conversion. Looks like nothing is going to be happening to Vortex at the moment, neither a relocation nor a conversion. From what I've heard, was the park shelved the project in favor of Mass Effect 4D.
  3. My vote would be the proposed Knott's Theme Park in Old Sacramento next to the railroad museum. Here is the proposal submission: http://www.records.cityofsacramento.org/ViewDoc.aspx?ID=s6tFBnt4W+L9MlKqmrwNazJGh8NfYh5t Source: https://m.flickr.com/#/photos/robinshall/sets/72157618509002338/
  4. The Speed Coaster never left the design stage, so the railroad would have not been removed for that. Also Stealth's supports were designed around the Railroad, they wouldn't have done that if they weren't planning on keeping it in the long term. Hypersonic was a prototype, they saw an opportunity and the park tried to take it, IIRC walls went up saying there would be a new ride in 2001 (Right when the railroad was removed). At that point I believe the same reason why GoldStriker was delayed took in effect, noise complaints. The railroad disappeared, and the swings and the Mount Rushmore display came along.
  5. IIRC It was the Extreme Flyer/Whizzer/Goldstriker site, which is why the Hometown Square station got butchered. The Psycho Mouse queue is the original Scenic Railroad Station.
  6. I think that is what the height limit is because Dropzone is over 200 feet this reminds me, does anyone have the stats on the hyper (or was it a hypersonic clone?) that was originally supposed to go to this park? The Arrow Hypercoaster would have been placed near the Demon, elevator lift, I believe at 200ft for the first drop. Hypersonic itself was supposed to be put in place of were Goldstriker and Xtreme Flyer now stand, the former Whizzer/Railway site.
  7. I don't see Vortex leaving the park anytime soon, as for a floorless converstion, I don't think it's going to happen, the station itself is extremely crammed already behind buildings and on top of the park's service road. It seems to me more efficient to just make it into a sit down coaster. It would be cool to see it repainted to it's original colors too. What I honestly want to see is Demon with new coaster cars, preferably the new Vekoma lap bars with the stadium style seating, and just an overhaul of the general theming like replacing the lights in the tunnel, bringing back the foggers. etc. Couple of places to put a roller coaster: -Remove Psycho Mouse and the Go Kart track for a small Euro-Fighter, it would provide more square footage than the Inverti-Garden. -The perimeter of the rapids utilizing the old railroad right of way for a launched coaster would be cool too. It's actually really scenic back there, the railroad trestle is still up and so is the water tower, would make a really good mine themed/railroad launched coaster. -The Greased Lightin' station is still up, could always put a Wicked Twister/V2 Inverted launch Intamin.
  8. On a random note, I'm visiting Knott's Scary farm on Thursday 10/23, I have a reservation for Trapped: Lock and Key at midnight, I'm the only one going in I've done it previous years. If anyone would like to join me send a PM!
  9. A bit of a random post, but the former train ride that was in the park in the early days is on sale: Source: Discover Live Steam - Magic Mountain Steam Locomotive
  10. There have been a lot of rumors in the past season going around that Great America might be operating until Christmas. But these are all only rumors since ever since last year's Global Winter Wonderland. As far as I'm aware. The only Cedar Fair park that operates year round is Knott's.
  11. It might just be part of the Witch's curse at Knotts that all rides with the name "Wind" in it is destined to fail. It would be nice to see a flat ride there in its place. Or even just a garden, I'd be okay with that too since that area is soo cramped.
  12. Considering how many of those optical illusions there are everywhere on this ride...My wild guess is the world's first is going to be very gimmicky. I mean, there could be some surprises in the building, but I'm not getting my hopes up. Still, this seems to be a very fitting replacement for Black Hole.
  13. Gold Striker is looking amazing. http://www.pbase.com/spcrr/image/93343616 The former Whitcomb is the blue one sitting (Mistakenly called Plymouth in the previous post, due to the fact Plymouth's are common similar engines) Actually it went to the Kauai Plantation Railway, they had a whole big project of restoring 2 steam locomotives (which now sit at the same locomotive shop as the Former CGA Green Locomotive) but the project never completed and they sold off the whitcomb around 2008-2010. After that sale thought it's location has been a bit of a mystery. *EDIT* After some searching, found out it ended up back here in California, semi-local at Roaring Camp Railroad, Santa Cruz
