  1. The images that our tv stations were giving us of all of the shore points were pretty awful. This is from Atlantic city. Hard to believe I was there on that stretch of boardwalk last weekend.
  2. It's been pretty bad here in south jersey so far today. No signs of damage in any of our parks, but there are a lot of pictures floating around of the Atlantic City boardwalk being ripped apart. Also plenty of roads washing out as well.
  3. When Dick came out to announce the winners of the annual costume contest, he did mention that "new trains were being assembled and shipped across the country soon," so take that for what it's worth. This year was my second PPP and I've already got my sites for next year. I definitely know why some people shy away from this event, but I really think it is what you make of it. To me this event embodies everything that I love about the industry. After a long 6 and 7 day-a-week summer it's so nice to camp out for a weekend, see some familiar faces waiting in just about every single line, it just renews my love for my job and reminds me why I wanted to get into "the biz" in the first place. The park is just so charming every time I visit, but on the Saturday night of PPP it just hits a totally new level. By the way, I hope that those who did go caught a little bit of the costume parade this year. The photo below may or may not be my friends and I sporting our winning group costumes....
  4. Stuntman's freefall at SFGADV was so appropriately named for where it was placed within the park: Movietown! Nestled nicely right in between the batman's. and not too far from Movie Town's Water Effect. One of the cooler things about this first gen was that GADV did Physics Days for all of the area high schools. They would give a make shift "G Meter" and allow students to ride the coasters and tower with it in their hands. Really a nice visual to see that meter fly as you dropped! It was very sad to see it go as not only has the park not replaced it's empty space with something new.. but GADV no longer has a true drop tower of any kind now.. one thing that I've felt the park has missed for years.
  5. I had no idea it was possible to grab two at a time. It's hard enough grabbing one, I'm trying to figure out how it's even feasible to grab two. Two hands? Multiple fingers? Magnets? Laser beams? Miniature elves hidden in your sleeves that jump out and grab the ringy dingy ding-a-ling dings then toss them to you? UGH... how!?!? Lean forward, grab the first one as fast as you can with index finger.. than second one with your pinky finger. Triples for Knoebels carousel is really hard. If I'm not trying to catch the rings I can probably get three to fall out of the holder but.. its too fast for that! It was mentioned maybe a page ago if anyone had rode both Black Diamond and Golden Nugget. I want to revive that question! Outside of watching the building fall apart.. I never got to ride it or see the inside at Moreys.
  6. Here you go Robb. I don't have any pictures of us in costume but, here we are putting finishing touches on! Lego Minifigs!
  7. ^I'm one of those 2 at a time people. It's all about the technique! But if you can master it, you can grab about 20 rings on average. We ended up riding Black Diamond Sunday once all of the hype died down a bit. Still waited the better part of an hour but, by then all the glitches seemed to be over with and the line was rolling right along. I have to say, yet another great great move for the Knoebel family. I remember as a kid watching that desolate golden nugget building from afar ( mid 90's or so) wondering if I would ever get a chance to ride it. I agree with the folks earlier on in the thread that a few of the effects were a little off in timing.. but still what a blast from the past kind of ride!
