  1. I'm not going to lie. When my husband told me our park was getting a single rail coaster I was so very excited! Thought it would be a Raptor. Needless to say, I was less than pleased when I found out it was a kiddie coaster. I'm sure it will be great for kids and mine will like it, but I was kind of hoping for something more substantial in that spot. Hopefully they get out of their recent aversion to seating and shade in the kids rides area. That part of the park is BRUTAL in the summer. Never noticed before, but now that I have a kid and go....it's unpleasant.
  2. Managed to take the kiddo on Sunday to ride rides and check out some of the Fright Fest decorations. He's seen several horror movies (unfortunately) and loves scary stuff. He really wants to go in the evening when Fright Fest is going on but I'm wary about it. For a kid, he is absolutely fearless - but he's still just a little guy (he's almost 7.) NOTE: - he watched IT and Halloween at his Grandmother's house (not with me,) and loves them. To the point where his mother got him a Michael Myers birthday cake last year. I'm raising either a dare devil or a serial killer - I'll keep you all apprised Have to say, had the best ride on Scream Machine that I've had in YEARS. I'll still only ride in the front seat - but it reminded me of what it was like when I was a kid in the 80's. Wooden coaster rough, but not bad and full of airtime. It was awesome.
  3. ^Glad to hear bout the Scream Machine being open. Haven't seen it run at ALL this year. Went today and an empty train was stopped on the lift. Took my kid today as a reward for doing well for the first week of school. He's got some behavioral issues so this was actually a pretty big deal. Got to meet up with a friend, Doug, from the boards and the Mini East Coast trip several years ago. IT was awesome seeing him and meeting his kids. Got a few rides with them before heading our separate way. My kid LOVES water parks, even the one there. I am NOT a fan at all He did awesome in school last week for the first week of school, so I took him today and we went to the water park. Their biggest slide, with the toilet bowl and boomarang wall....they hand you this massive and heavy 4 person raft and have you carry it up 5 flights of stairs. My 6 year old did his best to help, but my tired old ass did not enjoy it....AT ALL. Spent the whole walk up hoping I wouldnt die and the whole ride down trying to catch my breath. Definitely a one and done for us. The wave pool must have been on "high" because it was kicking out butts. Kiddo loved it....me....not so much LOL Dry side was not crowded at all, which was awesome. Rode Dare Devil Dive with like a 10 minute wait (which is nothing for that.) Also managed rides on Mindbender, Catwoman, and Blue Ninja Hawk. One train on Blue Hawk, but the ops were on point and doing a good job and seeming to enjoy themselves - so kudos to them! Food service was miserable, as expected, but the food was good and there was plenty of it so I guess it balances out. If he's good again this week, I guess I'll be repeating this next Sunday.
  4. Went again on Sunday. Absolutely nothing going on at Scream Machine - ghost town over there. Lines weren't bad at all, but operations were pretty slow. That isn't to say that the staff wasn't pleasant; because everyone I dealt with was great as far as attitude. I think dispatches were slow because the crowd was being "special." In line for the Log Ride, I watched a couple 8 minute dispatches on Scorcher which were painful to watch (thank god I wasn't waiting on it.) It looked (from a distance) like people were being idiots about standing up and train had to be unlocked and locked repeatedly. Ninja/Blue Hawk is actually fun in the front seat and the Super Loop is more intense that I remembered. Oh the joys of going with a 6 year old. He's currently 49" so we are limited on what he can ride, but we make due. David
  5. Hi - it's me again. Took the little guy yesterday. Park was EMPTY which was nice. Actually had 2 walk-on rides on Daredevil Dive. I'd forgotten how much fun that ride is, as the line is usually miserable so I skip it. I finally got to ride Catwoman Whip, which was okay. Not as good as the Wheelie was, but maybe that's because I'm old. I'm really grateful that my kid is a daredevil, and will ride anything he can....but he decided Blue Hawk / Ninja is his favorite ride there. The new trains and track work make it tolerable and okay for a ride every once in a while.....but a mini-marathon on it almost killed me. I remember being a kid and being able to ride the roughest rides around with no problem. I sometimes feel like a kid on the inside, but my body is reminding me today that I am certainly one no longer.
  6. ^Don't know if you've posted elsewhere, but what kind of car did you get??
  7. Went to the park yesterday. As it was super cold (for Georgia) this weekend, the water rides were all closed. Got my little guy on Twisted Cyclone and Ninja / Blue Hawk for the first time. I didn't know he knew that many cuss words He really liked them. Park looked good, most rides were open, but with one train operations which slowed things down. Food service was very very slow as usual, so that was the only real downside to the day. We managed to ride Twisted Cyclone, Blue Hawk, Justice League and the Sky Screamer as well as getting food. We would have done more, but the 6 year old has the attention span of a gnat so we spent a lot of time wandering around and looking at the geese (he's kind of obsessed.) I still don't understand how we can be somewhere with roller coasters and rides, and my kid will want to play on the playground It is a mystery
  8. Yeah Bert - luckily there is a lot that he can do and enjoy. I've spent more time on the Antique Cars in the last year and a half than I spent on them in the last 30 years!
  9. So - with the Mask thing being updated....does anyone have any thoughts/predictions on how long the place will be a S*&tshow for? Went last Sunday (when masks were still being required,) and it was MUCh busier than usual for a Sunday. I'm assuming that now that the anti-mask brigade folks will get back to the park that it will be a madhouse for a while. I'm fine when I go on my own, but I'm usually there with my 5 year old great nephew, which is a completely different experience when it comes to lines, etc. He's a good kid, but when lines get over 1/2 hour he starts to get restless and grumpy. That's why I usually take him on Sundays. Thoughts? David
  10. ^I got an "almost" night ride on Voyage several years ago and it left me wanting more. That's the main reason I'm thinking of doing this event next year! Is the Santa Claus In still the only hotel in the area??
  11. Can someone here give me a basic overview of how Hollywood Nights works? I'm tentatively planning on going next year and really have no idea where to begin. Isn't it usually late spring?
  12. I've actually had a couple of fantastic visits this month. Went last Sunday and this Sunday - very low crowds and very little frustration. Staff seemed overall very helpful and energetic as well. Was hoping some of the Holiday lights would be turned on last night, but they aren't yet. Also, haven't ridden the Mine Train in the dark in about 35 years (a three year old will change your ride priority list,) and that was a TON of fun.
  13. Those trees lit up in the woods were really very lovely! Everything looks great (as I would expect from them.) Thanks for braving the cold and sharing these Chuck.
