  1. crap! I can only hope for a miracle for it to be further adjusted and a little faster when I'll visit the States and KD in June...
  2. If everything in the site stays accessible for everyone (coastertube included), then it's fine for those who'd like to pay for some extra things ofcourse...
  3. Ι don't like the idea of another subscription for coasters. I already have one that comes with a magazine. I love this site and the thought that it will have a payment requirement is sad. As for the trips, it'll be great for those who attend regularly, but for me who lives at the other side of the world, the whole thing will offer nothing. I prefer to support TPR by buying cool coaster stuff and dvd's from the online store. I guess nothing is for free anymore...
  4. This video of port aventura made me wanna visit the park and so I did last year. Ok, the park itself is not better than Europa but I agree that this TPR video is one of the best. I've watched it like 30 times or more..
  5. Hello people. It's been a while since i read the forum and now I'm starting to become, lets say, more active. I'm from Greece, where the only coasters you can get on, are some kiddie ones in fair ground parks Some years ago, I came across Rob n Elissa's online videos. I was so inspired and fascinated by the coasters and the theme parks and was so eager to be on a real roller coaster and feel the rush. After a year or so, I was on a coaster trip in Netherlands with a roller coaster fun club. It was so amazing that i had become instantly addicted! Back home, turned some of my usual travel buddies into coaster maniacs too and ever since 2005, I travel and travel doing coasters. I don't have much experience in coasters (have only ridden 18 in Europe) and I'd love to make it to the States and ride all the major ones I keep watching in videos! My favorite type of coaster is those non looping, no overhead restraints, BIG airtime, intamin megacoasters. So my top coaster is Expedition Ge force in Germany. Which one would you suggest me to ride in the States? Is really Superman ride of Steel in SFNE much superior to Expedition Ge force??? And what about 'X' ? I'd really love to ride a 4th dimensional but i hear rumors that it's not that great after all... Any suggestions would be highly appreciated. Rob and Elissa thanks for the forum and thanks for those online videos that introduced me to the magnificent scream machines
  6. I don't think there is actually a roller coaster that can really scare me. I just feel some anticipation, then the adrenaline rush (if the coaster is really good) and of course pure joy. I also didn't feel any fear in the first time i rode a coaster. And I was full grown adult when i did it but still no fear for the scream machines. The same goes for skydiving too. The only time i feel fear, or actually, sheer terror, is when i'm about to bungee jump. I guess it has to do with the brain. I've done quite alot of research on this. In coasters, apart from getting used to them, you're strapped really good. These machines have state of the art technology and it's extremely rare to be in a fatal accident. On skydiving, before you get out of that door, you have all the noise, the wind whistling, the height so big that your brain is confused and not being able to compare it with other nearby levels of height, cannot actually conceive the distance to the ground (despite the fact that you know the feet). BUT in bungee jumping, you're perfectly calm and you fully realize the height. Your brain compares the distance with other high objects and despite the fact that you know it's quite safe, you're only strapped to a rope at your feet. You go at the edge of the platform and your feet are trembling in the fear of falling but you realize that what you fear it can happen to you, is actually going to happen by you. Your brain is so confused (being in a self preservation mode) and doesn't give the order to the body for the jump. However, you still do it violating all your brain opposite signals. The jump (unlike roller coasters) is 100% conscious, made by you and no other person can do the "dirty work" for you (like pushing you off). But during the fall and a couple of hours later, your blood and brain is sooo full of adrenaline that pure euphoria in its highest, is experienced. Adrenaline is the best natural drug ever! in small doses you have the roller coaster feeling which is pure joy. But when you go higher... Of course, every person has different levels of adrenalin perception. This is due to presence of some specific brain neurotransmitters. Some people (like me) have a very small amount of these transmitters therefore need much more adrenalin in their blood to feel the rush. Others may have the same effect on a coaster or even on a new enviroment a new job etc etc.. Another thing is that human brain adopts very easily. If you do bungee jump every day for a week, the fear will be totally vanished! The same goes for roller coasters I guess.. p.s. tiring bold, corrected
  7. well.. my last coaster was Goliath at Waliby world in the Netherlands in June. Such an amazing ride...
  8. I don't understand all this craziness with the POVs. I mean, it's so much different than the actual ride that it's really not worth it seeing POVs. When i watch a POV only video, I just pass it. What I really love is to watch, off ride videos with bits of POV. This way I have a much better picture of the ride. Just like the new dvd "Roller Coasters in the raw" which i think is absolutely awesome not only because you hear the screaming and the park's natural sounds, but because apart from POV there are lots of offride footage.
  9. Hello everybody. This is my first post here. I don't have much experience in coasters and I still haven't ridden the major ones in the States. From my limited experience in Europe, I can only say my top five 1. Expedition Ge Force (Holiday Park, DE) 2. Goliath (waliby world, NL) 3. Stealth (Thorpe Park, UK) 4. Oblivion (Alton Towers, UK) 5. Nemesis (Alton Towers, UK) What I mostly love in coasters, are those non looping, no overhead restraints, big airtime, intamin mega coasters. According to this, which coasters would you suggest me riding in the U.S? I hear a lot about "X" and Superman Ride of Steel in SFNE. Are they this good? Actually, is there a coaster in the States that is better than Expedition Ge force? Sorry for all these questions
