  1. Why would a ride op joke about such a thing? Some guy at an amusement park I will not mention said that if the kids wouldn't stop shaking the gates on the ride, that they will spontaneously combust. All it takes is one spooked guest and you're out on your rump. Things like that are something you think, but don't say. Like when kids ask "am I going to die?" you think "well, someday", but you just say "not today, little fella" or something to the effect.
  2. ^ Yup. Over everything you see at any amusement park in the entire world, Safety is the number one concern and has to be the number one concern for everyone from the head management to the 86 year old bathroom attendant.
  3. Nope. Michigan's Adventure does not play the National Anthem when they open. However, I have noticed that they have added "The Stars and Stripes Forever" to their front of the park CD.
  4. Dan, those Excalibur trains are also on Gemini at CP, and also get the "Fat Guy Approved" stamp because they are probably the only trains in the Cedar Fair chain that absolutely EVERYONE will fit in. Cheese Curds are bits of cheese or cheese product or whatever. They are very popular in the UP of Michigan as well, and we get loads of them on our Deer (Beer) Camp trips every August. I personally don't like them, but the guys with our group usually go through about 10 bags the whole week!
  5. I think this Amusement Attic is a great thread. I really love everything you put up here. Im a long time lurker, but rarely post. I was wondering though, is the narrator the same guy who does the little bits on CBS Sunday Morning nowadays? Also, is that Schwarskopf loop a good ride? It looks really fun and 70's like.
  6. Where would they put said ride? I'll believe it when I see it. Youd have to think youd have seen something by now.
  7. I once won tickets to it, and as a huge Star Trek fan, I am disappointed to see the closing of this attraction. But knowing three things: the lack of interest in the use of the property by the ownership of the hotel, the lack of caring by the ownership of the attraction itself, and the general agnosticism of the general public shown to Star Trek since the premiere and short departure of Enterprise, I am not very surprised by the closure of this place.
  8. It is clearly the person's fault, but the parents will be so blind with rage and or anger that they will sue the park anyways, and rather than spending legal fees up the ying yang, they will probably just pay them off.
  9. That is true. I was just astonished at the fact that the parking lot was half empty today at the park on a saturday in the summer. Its only a few hours to CP, even though it is in a different state, many Michiganders go to CP alot.
  10. They also have Shivering Timbers, but everyone seems to forget about Michigan's Adventure. I find it hard to believe that Geauga Lake had a lower attendance than MiA does.
  11. If a moving company is buying these wooden coasters and then moving them, then why didnt Cedar Fair move at least The Villain or Big Dipper? Cedar Fair can be so lame sometimes.
  12. Ironically, MiA has their own Falling Star. I work on it. Surprised he didnt say anything about that. That park badly needs a new flat ride now, but I bet they wont get one for another two years, as they seem to add major attractions every other year or so. I havent heard anything about building a pathway between the sides of the park, last I heard it was for maintenance. That park has so much potential.
