  1. I've worn contacts for over a year now, and I always wear them on coasters without a single problem as of yet. I even wore them yesterday on Superman Ride of Steel at SFNE in the pouring rain, and they didn't come out..
  2. For overrated...I'd definately jump on the bandwagon and say Medusa East and Nitro. Personally, I like BTDK up at SFNE a lot better than Medusa. The ride just lacks forces completely, except for maybe the zero-g roll. And I also saw a bit of roughness in the inversions, but it didn't add any sensation of speed. And as for Nitro, I just don't think it belongs in the top 10. The airtime is weak unless you ride late in the day in the back row with a full train. The helix is decent but still not nearly as forcefull as other B&M's. I love how everyone says Hulk is overrated. I'm honestly not disagreeing...but I've never seen it really hyped about unless I'm in Florida or looking at the Amusement Today poll. Before my first trip to IOA, I'd just seen a ton of people saying its overrated, so I expected nothing and was pleasantly surprised. I like the coaster a lot...but I'd agree that it isn't the most spectacular B&M coaster built.
  3. I tend to have pretty sensitive eyes to contacts being uncomfortable and popping out, but they've been fine through numerous rides on Superman: Ride of Steel. You should be just fine.
  4. ^It would especially be great for a park that already has a BTR... *rolls eyes* I agree with what nyguy said. Also, it could be that TGE hasn't yet put forth a proposal to the town of Queensbury yet, and don't want them to know of their full plans before getting permission to carry them out.
  5. If you're someone who lives around Great Adventure, and doesn't want to pay the extra money for the much-more-expensive Great Adventure pass, couldn't you just renew your Great Adventure season pass on the SFNE site, and pay less? Or can you not do inter-park renewals?
  6. ^^Yes, the limit was changed from 6' 4" to 6' 2" after the guy fell out of the SFNE version.
  7. You wouldn't be able to ride any of the Superman: Ride of Steel coasters. They have a limit of 6' 2".
  8. its not intensity that hurts bad hearts, its the g-forces... If we're going to say a ride has high g-forces, wouldn't we also then say that it's "intense". Not trying to argue, just stating a point. They're kind of the same thing. And, Expedition GeForce has rather high (and low) g forces as well. Hence the name. But, I'm just saying. If we're talking about doing a study on coasters in general, shouldn't we pick an 'average' coaster? That's like doing a study on risks of acquiring cancer for an average person, and picking only smokers for our experimental group. In m opinion, there has always been a bit too much bias against coasters as far as danger goes. Some members of the GP still think that there are no regulations on coasters, and parks build them at their own will, and with a blind eye to safety. "They should have made that hill smaller, cause its definately going to go right off the track one of these days."
  9. Did anyone else find it funny that they tried this one Expedition GeForce; being one of the most intense coasters out there? Why didn't they try it on another coaster, like Silver Star, or even Superwirbel?
  10. Excellent update, Jim. Especially the SFMM construction part. Have SFMM put anything into the Valencia town planning board yet that would suggest whether it's going to be a coaster/what type of coaster it will be?
  11. ^^Time Warp is a Vekoma Air Jumper.
  12. Me, my friend Natalie, and her dad decided to head out to SFNE for the day, figuring it wouldn't be too crowded since it was a Monday. And we were right. We ended up getting 5 of the 9 coasters in, and got on most of the flat rides we wanted to do. We got to the park at around 12:00, and went over to Crackaxle Canyon to start, since it's at the front of the park. We started off with two rides on Tomahawk, which had no line whatsoever. I really like this Huss Frisbee, especially with the new program this year which has it start spinning very fast when you switch spin directions at the very end of the ride. I'd probably say that Tomahawk is my favorite flat ride in the park. We then went on Rodeo, a Huss Breakdance, which had a pretty short line. It's a fun little ride, but not too thrilling, like a scrambler with an extra degree of rotation. We then headed down to Scream! to find another pretty short line. We were a bit disappointed to see that all 3 towers were running, but none in Combo mode. We waited about 10 minutes, then got on the tower next to the old Hellovator tower, the tower nearest the wave swinger, which was running Space Shot mode. This tower was pretty disappointing, since I'd only been on the tower facing Superman when in Space Shot mode...and this tower had a very weak launch and very weak airtime compared to the other tower. After that, we went on Thunderbolt, which had about a 15 minute wait. I really wish they let you choose which car you wanted to ride in on this ride. We ended up getting on in the 3rd car, and had a good ride, with a few decent pops of airtime, but it seemed a lot weaker than the last time I rode it. It was now about 1:00, and we decided it was time to go for a ride on Superman: Ride of Steel. After waiting about 25 minutes, we got on in the 8th car of the red train. After this ride, I started getting a little worried. The ride itself seemed a little tamer than usual...which I've never experienced before on Superman. But, you'll be glad to hear that it was back to normal when I rode again later that day. After riding Superman, we decided to head up to Batman: The Dark Knight. On our way up to Batman, we noticed that Buzzsaw, a Huss Magic Carpet, had no line, and I hadn't been on it before, so we gave it a shot. Now I understand why it has no line. This thing hurt pretty badly. You get a really unexpected slam in the stomach with the restraint on the first swing...and overall the ride was just really unpleasant. We then got up to Batman, which had a fairly short line. However, the b*tch running the queue had no idea what she was doing. One of the things I hate most about BTDK is the fact that you can't pick your row like you can with all other SFNE coasters except Thunderbolt. Whenever I ride BTDK, I always ask the attendant if I can wait for front row, and they're always fine with it. This woman told us "the park is too busy today, so we cannot allow you to wait for the row you want". Of course I replied with "what, you mean the 10 minute wait for this ride that is usually 45 minutes?"...which she didn't have an answer to. Of course, she directed us to another row and then turned away to keep dictating the queue, and since I've learned not to listen to SFNE employees, we walked up to the front row, just to wait an extra train for it. Before the current train left, she noticed that we were waiting for the front row, and she did one of the most ridiculously stupid things I've ever seen an employee do. She had 2 people that were about to board the 4th row go BACK in the queue line so we could take their seats. Of course, we told the people waiting to stay where they were and that we'd wait for the next train...and she said to us "I know what you're trying to do, you're just trying to go back to the front of the line so you can run to the front row", clearly hell-bent on making sure we didn't get front row, even if it meant making two people who were ahead of us in line going back to wait longer...and she told the 2 people waiting to go back to the queue line, and if they didn't, she was going to have them removed from the ride. This woman really needs to be fired, because not only is she not doing her job right, but she is also one of the people that drag down Six Flags New England's guest service...I just couldn't believe it. After all of that waste of time, we finally got on the 4th row of BTDK. BTDK is one of the better new B&M coasters IMO, and I even like it better than Medusa at SFGAdv, since it's pretty intense. However, there seems to be something seriously wrong with the coaster that I've never experienced before. The train was bumping up and down during the ride pretty badly. It wasn't painful since you're still in B&M trains, but it was like going down Vekoma track in a B&M train. I really don't know what was up with the ride. We went on a second time later in the day, and it was still bumping. After that, we got in a few more rides on Superman and Scream!...and also went on Cyclone, which was a lot rougher than my last ride...and I felt like I'd need to be on a few organ transplant lists after riding it. I also got to ride Mr. Six's Pandemonium...which was a lot better than I thought it would be. It has a few good pops of airtime, and the car spins pretty fast in some spots. I also rode Time Warp for my first time, and it was a fun ride, but I didn't like being held upside down for a few seconds, which was pretty uncomfortable. At the end of the night, we got in 2 great rides on Superman...and the coaster was running better than I've ever seen. Normally, because of whatever happens to Intamin track that makes it run faster on hot days, they close off cars 4 and 5...but they didn't have any cars closed off, so it was a very intense ride with extremely great airtime. Then, after our last ride on Superman, it was about 9:55, and everything was starting to close down. We got up to Scream!, hoping to get another ride, but found that it was closed. However, a ride operator saw us there, and told us she had 3 seats open on the tower nearest Superman, which was now running in combo mode! What a great way to end the day. Overall, it was a pretty good day at SFNE, despite the problems with BTDK and bad employees. The crowds were very light, so we got to re-ride the things we wanted, which included getting 6 rides in on both Scream! and Superman: Ride of Steel.
  13. I had almost forgotten how bad weekends are at SFNE...I've been there a few times on weekends, and it's almost impossible to ride anything. You'd have definately had a better time if you went on a weekday, but as you said, it was unavoidable. I went on monday, and had a maximum of a 25 minute wait, and got in 6 rides that day. It's good that you at least got to enjoy Superman, though. As for the new restraints, as Elissa mentioned, I've only seen a few people complain that they bother your legs, but they don't bother me at all...and don't have any effect on the airtime whatsoever.
  14. Nice little TR you've got. How long were the lines for Mr. Six's Pandemonium? I've been there twice this season already, and haven't gone on it because of 30+ minute waits, which I really feel isn't worth it for a coaster like that. It's good you enjoyed Thunderbolt though, it's a fun little woodie with some great airtime. Also, you said you saw Superman: Ride of Steel, but did you ride it? Unless you're not tall enough to yet... I haven't really seen people hate SFNE, either. On the contrary, I've heard a lot of people praise it, saying it's among the best Six Flags parks.
  15. Robb, as far as the "back up the spike" after the backwards part goes, both Great Escape's Boomerang and Six Flags New England's Flashback have the train come all the way out of the station and up the spike (Great Escape's train didn't come all the way out of the station until about two years ago)...but the thing that I've never seen before is the part you mentioned...how it went back into the boomerang. Usually it goes back onto the spike, then is stopped a few times to get it back into the station normally. It would be cool to sit in the front car of that boomerang, though...almost a 7th inversion! And that Pinfari Inverted coaster looks frightening...it looks to me like an SLC from lower depths of hell!
