  1. A Boomerang coaster is only innovative for Carowinds...why do we keep getting crap from other parks passed off as "new"???? Consequently, any coaster is better than stupid new additions to the water park. I was always hoping Carowinds would go for something huge like a hyper to put up a fight with SFOG, but they seem to be content with 2nd...check that 3rd in attendance behind SFOG and now Hard Rock in the South.
  2. Six Flags over Georgia has nice folks. Six Flags Great America's staff looks worse than the average 'carny' at the local fair. I am still upset though SFGA's got KingDa Ka instead of SFOG. Rumour in Atlanta was it was down to Great America and Georgia...and New Jersey won.
  3. Robb, Sorry your trip to Knotts was such a bust. Although, in my experience, I have never expected much from parks so early in the season. I have had to deal for years with parks not being able to open rides purely due to lack of manpower to operate the rides safely. But, I have a solution...Self-riding coasters...No more ride technicians! A really long stick available to push the green button once everyone is on board! What do you think?
  4. Well, I do not think I can add any more additional help that has not already been offered by Elissa and the others. IMO, the hotels listed are good for being as close as possible to the SFOG park. If you can, get your tickets for SFOG ahead of time, the ticket windows are some of the slowest people I have ever seen....anywhere. IF you find yourself staying in Valdosta, before or after coming from WA, I recommend, the Holiday Inn right at the WA Exit, I think it is Exit 13 off of I-75. It's classic and clean. WA is a smaller version of BG-Tampa....it has rides...it has animals. It is a nice, large park. They have a major concert just about every day during the summer season, so be careful and check the schedule! Christian Concert Days are huge in Georgia.
  5. Robb, At Epcot, when you were there at that drink station, were the drinks all foreign, or were they drinks that are available everywhere? At one park here in South Carolina, there was an exhibit on the art of sweet tea... Just Kidding, but that would be cool. I know the worst sweet tea would be better than the best of the "Beverly" Home Parks: SFOG, Carowinds Fav Coaster: Swamp Fox (Family Kingdom, Myrtle Beach, SC)
  6. Annual season pass holder for Carowinds... The answer is...it depends. To the first question. To the second question, no, one full day (10am-6pm) is more than enough to see and ride everything if the park is average. PARKING TIP: If you arrive early, if you want to hit BORG Assimilator first, park in the FRONT entrance of the park, if you want the other coasters (Top Gun, Thunder Road, etc., first, park at the BACK entrance) Carowinds judges how many staff to have BEFORE the schools let out, usually around February when they have auditions. If it is 70 and 80 degrees here like it was last year, that weekend will be packed. If the number of staff is large, everything is open, all rides, including Water Works which due to early summer opened the second weekend of April last year (two weeks early)and the park is busy. If it is still cold, they will be on skeleton crew, have the BOGO (buy one get one free) coupons at Bi-Lo (grocery store) and the park will be empty. WARNING! If it is cold in March, the water rides WILL NOT BE RUNNING! NOT AT ALL.
