  1. I for one, might actually get to go on a TPR event for the first time here. We shall see... but IMHO, this is definitely a very good price for all the access and food too (All you can eat?...) they will not be happy if I do show up (profits going out the window).
  2. Ah man... Now I HAVE to join Club TPR. This is a first class looking mag folks.
  3. Pretty sure I see it. At least I BELIEVE I see it. A lot goes to power of perception/positive thinking... and a well placed cursor...
  4. I can atest to the *ahem* monster wedgies. Out here in Vista-land we have a Flow rider at "The Wave" water park. Learn that lesson once... and only once.
  5. Ah... I hope someone did the "Surf and turf" thing with dinner... You did mention that you were attempting to lose weight BEFORE the cruise, right?
  6. Absolutely! to bring a site up in 24 hours is indeed an accomplishment, even with all the bugs floating around. Great job Robb!
  7. Okay...the cap's on because it's a bit early, but...
  8. Oh...got to show a just couple of pictures... Me at the top of Stratosphere 90 Degree hill for "Speed" The loop for "Speed...the Ride"
  9. Well I just got back... Coaster count: (2) Did Manhatten Express at night, and yes... it was rough but I'm glad that I went on it. I also went on Speed...the Ride. That was a fun coaster, very quick and the first coaster that I've been on that goes completely vertical at the end. I did go to the top of Stratosphere. However, I really thought that the High Roller looked to be very wimpy, and decided not to go on it. The other rides however looked to be way to insane for me to try (yes...wimped out) I really did not feel too crazy about hanging over the edge on either X Scream or Insanity. Best attraction that I did however had to be Star Trek: The Experience. That was a ton of fun. Nice thing was that it is in The LV Hilton that I was staying at. One big complaint of the hotel... bad internet service. There was no WiFi anywhere in the resort, the connection line that my room HAD was all screwed up, and the ISP service in their business center would not hook up to my Mac. The staff there had no clue other than to say..."Yep, we can't seem to get anyone's Mac to work here..." Otherwise, the trip was pretty fun and I'm looking forward to bring my wife on a future trip (It's been 25 years for her as well!)
  10. 'fraid I have no photo of this... But it was a plain ol' Budweiser Draft sitting at a bar at the Las Vegas Airport, watching my poor Chargers lose to the Green Bay Packers... right before I boarded my flight. (Before that, I had some Klingon Kanogh(?) at the Quark's Bar at Star Trek: the Experience, in the Las Vegas Hilton.)
  11. James Madison High School, San Diego. Class of '77 (cane...wheres my cane?...)
  12. Okay...been there done that. But the picture still has blurring unless you use a delayed shutter setting so that you are not touching the camera. How can you take a shot of fireworks that way?...or for that matter...anything that you need a picture of right away? I mentioned that there is a huge shutter delay on it's own as it tries to either focus...or ( I am assuming) determine correct exposure. Tripods works great for portrait settings. But for action, particularly in lower light situations, not so much if at all.
  13. Thanks! for the most part I will attempt to try out all of those atttractions when I can get away from the conference.....which will be towards the late afternoon/early evening. Now for one last question before I leave in 2 days... BUffets. I understand that not all are considered equal. Again, 25 years ago, Circus Circus was the only game in town that you could do on a budget. Any changes?
  14. Glad to know that I am not alone! I have heard that the newer "SLR" digital like the Canon Rebel XT or the Nikon D70 or D50 work better and have a "shoot NOW" shutter control. A little out of my price range at the moment... but I might head in that direction for my next camera.
  15. Can anyone help me out in taking low light pictures with a digital camera? I cannot seem to get it set up right to take shots with low light levels, without a great deal of blurring. Flash only makes it worse, as the flash will only light up what is immediately in front of the camera. The shots that I want to really take are Fireworks. Which I do try with a tripod... but I also have a problem with the low light to get the camera to actually shoot when I want it. It has a huge shutter delay so the shot is gone before I can take it. The camera I have is a Nikon Coolpix 5700. It can take really great shots that are not motion based (stills), in abundant light. I never have this problem with my miniDV camcorder...
