  1. ^^ nice one! But really, it's just some really stupid German expression that's completely lost in translation. AstroDancer already gave an idiomatic translation. Literally, it's "take off like Mr. Schmidt's cat" Totally silly, as most of the other slogans Europapark used there. Am I the only one to think that the ads look rather cheap?
  2. Just to carry on with all the scientific reports, I found this one rather interesting. Homosexuality and Darwinism don't seem to be so contradictory after all. Now I can say: "I'm gay but at least my mom is superstraight!" *lol* I really don't know about the whole gaydar thing. Thinking of it, of course there are guys where it is totally obvious that they are gay. But I don't think that you necessarily have to be gay yourself to recognize them. The more I know someone, the less I'll be surprised if he tells me he's gay. The first impression is sometimes helpful but not more than a wild guess, imo. And it can fool you. My gaydar didn't do anything when I first met my boyfriend. But probably my gaydar just sucks.
  3. Trust me, it doesn't taste or look like any beer made in Bavaria. It's just what they want to make you believe. I always wonder how many people have actually purchased Bavaria beer thinking it was a German brand... I've never seen it being sold here in Germany, btw. Troy looks sexy indeed and it really makes me wonder why I've never been to Toverland... Stupid me!
  4. ^I didn't say anything against the ride. Actually, I'm quite fond of this ride. And I also think that it's rather respectable of the park to stick to the ride's godfather after all. I agree with you on the old Schwarzkopf darkride. It has its own special feel to it and the song they play inside is an absolute classic! There has been some persistent speculation that the ride might be taken down for a new ride. But this rumour has been around for some years now and nothing has happened. I hope that it will still be around for some time.
  5. ^No, they haven't dropped the sub name. And I don't think they will anytime soon. He's still the godfather of the ride, inaugurated and rode it himself. I can still see the photographs in the German newspapers. Even if there had happened some dubious things about your godfather in the past, he'd still be your godfather, wouldn't he?
  6. ^So the guy wearing just his underpants was not wasted enough for you? Great fair-report. I just love the Oktoberfest!
  7. ^I guess the itinerary is so packed with real theme parks that it would be crazy to hit Amsterdam just for this small credit. It may be a nice side-attraction if you are on a sightseeing tour in Amsterdam, but coasterwise, this thing has little to offer. Really, it's more like a ghost train with some light coaster elements. Since the wohle trip is about theme parks and not about city tours, I guess the group is better off skipping it.
  8. I voted for Fear as well because of the first drop and that extra element that you can't see that Force doesn't have. The "what the hell is going on"-element on Force is better though, imo.
  9. As the un-official official translator of the German part of the Mini-Europe Trip, I feel compelled to answer this question G'Sengste Sau geh ZENGS steh Sauw It means "burning mad pig" in a strange, southern German kind of slang. Nice try, MrMorgan, but not quite right It's more like "Gzenk-teh Zauw" I think. And it's spelled "G'sengte Sau", without the extra-s . Just like Robb spelled it. I like your translation, though Word by word it would be "singed sow". This term is normally used for your typical, "I'm-driving-160-miles-per-hour-on-the-autobahn-LEGALLY" and "why-should-I-slow-down-in-this-turn" kind of driver. When they see one, most Germans will say: "He's driving like a singed sow!" Ok, smart-a$$-mode off. Tripsdrill is awesome. And your photos capture that nicely, Robb! I don't know who's being the smart a$$, but our other German friends also told us it litterally meant "burning mad pig" (as well as a term for someone driving insanely fast.) I thank both you and Morgan for helping translate, but I'm not sure there was any reason to get so nit picky. Sorry Robb, I didn't want to offend anyone. The main reason I wrote was to add the mad-driving thing. Now re-reading it, it really looks like I put the wrong emphasis. Sorry to MrMorgan if I may have sounded a bit offending. No offence intended. Next time I'm trying to refrain from my nit-pickiness.

  11. The literal translation from the German comes out as "Sea Pigs". It's a bit of a let down really, I was expecting something far more entertaining... Actually, the literal translation would be "Sea Piggies". Is that more entertaining to you? If it's not, well, then trust me that having an English speaker trying to pronounce "Meerschweinchen" can be very entertaining, at least to Germans German animal names can be quite self explanatory at times. The German word for Sloth for example translates to "Lazy animal" or, my favorite one, platypus which the Germans refer to as "beak animal". But back on topic, Klotten looks like such a great place. I can't believe I've never been there although it's such a short drive from home. Something I've definitely to catch up.
  12. News concerning the strike: Negotiations between the Deutsche Bahn company and their train drivers failed and they are planning a new general strike for next week. This week, the strikes occured mainly during the rush hours in the morning. If your train is scheduled for this time of the day, good luck to you. But at least they will announce the particular date in advance. PS: MrMorgan is right. This has to be the crappiest summer in history. And the weather forcast for next week is not that promising to say the least.
  13. I just want to inform you that Talocan finally opened today. There are already quite a lot of pics at onride.de! Looks awesome to me. What do you think?
  14. This is not China, it's Germany. Be assured that they acquired the rights to do this since German copyright is pretty strict. Btw, this is hands down the best themed top spin ever!
